Date published: 2017-05-23
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Standard, but beautiful I really enjoy the artwork. The format leaves something to be desired though, as it's quite difficult to color near the spine. There's also a lot of narrow line work, which can be quite tedious and not so relaxing - but ultimately, I enjoy coloring these magical pictures. My advice though - color in a well-lit room and keep your pencils sharp!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful coloring book! Little bit more complicated than others Johanna's coloring books and you always need sharply sharpened pencils. Paper quality amazing! Have lot of fun playing with coloring pencils and soft pastel.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great idea! I love that they make these intricate books for adults to colour in. I prefer the more whimsical ones, the ocean scene isn't really my thing. But it is still lovely! #plumreview

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I loved this! My favourite colouring book! Just wish some of the spaces weren't so small!
Date published: 2017-01-17
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Perfect Gift! The perfect gift to give someone (or for yourself) perfectly designed and good quality coluoring book. The paper could've been a little thicker as some pens do go through but with that being said, the paper is already thicker than the typical colouring page. I definitely would recommend this book as well as the others by Johanna Basford
Date published: 2017-01-11

Date published: 2017-01-09
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Beautiful This is my second book from the same artist. The artwork is beautiful, as always. Paper should be thicker or one-sided, that way I can use pens and markers like I prefer. Otherwise, it's a great book.
Date published: 2017-01-05
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Another beautifully drawn book Beautifully drawn, only problem were a few of the illustrations have a border around it, so it was a bit difficult to colour the area where the pages are bound. #plumreview

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One of my Favourite Colouring Books I think that art in this series is the amazing and the Lost Ocean book is no exception! I totally recommend it ^^
Date published: 2016-12-16
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Cute and fun I think this is a neat little colouring book and an excellent way to distress and divert my mind when needed. I wouldn't say it's calming, because a lot of the lines are small and the designs are very busy and time consuming. However, I find it enjoyable to slowly colour away over time. The designs are all very cute, magical, whimsical, etc, so it's pleasing to look at. My only annoyance is that the designs for very close to the spine and the book doesn't flatten out very well... but this is a very minor detail for me, and I plan to keep getting this artist's books :)
Date published: 2016-12-13
Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is what got me started This is the book that started me on colouring craze. While hesitant about the level of detailing at first, it turned out to be just the thing I needed to stay focused for longer! The 4-page spread at the back was a nice little extra.
Date published: 2016-12-11
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Gift I'm not into colouring but I bought this book for a friend. She was very pleased and has enjoyed many hours relaxing and colouring.
Date published: 2016-12-10
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love It I got it for Christmas last year and I love it. The details are incredible, the images ... it's a work of art. If there is one issue I have that is completely personal it's that it's too pretty so I don't want to colour it in and mess it up.
Date published: 2016-12-06
Rated 5 out of 5 by from By Far My Favourite Joanna Brasford's coloring books are by the far the best ones out there, the pictures are the nicest of all the other ones i've tried

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great! Great combination of very detailed and larger patterns, perfect alternative to reading as a relaxing activity
Date published: 2016-11-14
Rated 5 out of 5 by from My favorite coloring book This is by far my favorite coloring book. I love the ocean and the illustrations in this book are beautiful.
Date published: 2016-11-14
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great addition to the series If you've bought one of Johanna Basford's other coloring books, you'll know exactly what to expect with this one - excellent and repetitive artwork. Still, I've had a lot of fun with this book and I love all of the underwater imagery.
Date published: 2016-11-11
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing! The paper of the book is nice, and design is suitable for adult coloring. Fun and not overwhelmed!
Date published: 2016-11-10
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Beautiful The pictures in this colouring book are stunning and incredibly detailed. As with any book, the downfall is that it can be difficult to colour close to the book binding, and you can see the colour on the other side of the pages. I would have enjoyed doing some of these pictures in coloured ink, but thicker paper would be better for that. Overall definitely my favourite colouring book. #plumreview
Date published: 2016-11-10
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bought as a gift I bought this colouring book as a gift, but went back to get one for me too! The pages are so detailed and fun to colour and the paper quality is great too.
Date published: 2016-11-08
Rated 5 out of 5 by from absolutely gorgeous! this is an exciting book. It is on good quality paper and very fun to find the hidden objects, in the detailed pictures.
Date published: 2016-11-06
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Incredibly Stunning I absolutely love Johanna Basford's coloring books, the amount of detail she puts in is perfect. I love sitting down and spending hours filling in the details. I am so excited to see what new books she'll be releasing her art is simply beautiful. I really recommend this coloring book in the growing coloring book market.
Date published: 2016-06-13
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Intricate and takes time I love the colouring pictures in this and there is a little legend at the front that shows you what types of objects are hidden throughout this inky adventure!
Date published: 2015-12-25
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lovely Colouring Book Lost Ocean is an absolutely beautiful adult colouring book. If you like underwater scenes, you will probably enjoy this book. Basford is an wonderful artist and her pictures are full of incredible detail. In fact, if you are going to colour this book, make sure you have a good pencil sharpener (and maybe some reading glasses?). Some pages are mandala-like, others are scenes, and there are a few less detailed pages. However, each page would easily take hours to colour in. Even though this book is clearly aimed at adults, my 10 year old daughter has enjoyed colouring in it as well, but she is a patient sort of child. She loves the imagination in the pictures and searching for the hidden pictures in each page. The pages themselves are thick and can even stand up to colouring with a sharpie marker without bleeding through. It would be better if the book could lay open flat as many of the pictures span both pages and it is difficult to colour in the binding. If you are looking for a book to take advantage of the meditative aspects of colouring and love the ocean, this is a great one. Disclaimer: I received this book from the publisher for an honest review.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Other books are better I love her coloring books i have a few of the other ones. I was super excited to get this one because i love the ocean. But i was disappointed. Doesn't seem like she spent as much time on this one looks computer generated. Many of the pages to color are generic. Was hoping for more sea creature designs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful drawings to colour Okay, I admit it - when I first heard about adult colouring books, I was skeptical. Could sitting down to colour be enjoyable? Relaxing? Dare I say - stress relieving? And then I tried it - and the answer is yes to all of the above. Johanna Basford has a number of adult colouring books out - all quite amazing. I thought I would dive (pun intended!) into Lost Ocean: An Inky Adventure and Colouring Book. I liked the gold accents on the cover - it hints at treasure within. (I'm a magpie - anything shiny catches my eye!) Now, are you one of those people who will start at the beginning and do all the pages in order? Or are you like me - I'll pick the one that appeals to me and start with it, choosing another as the mood strikes. Lost Ocean offers a wide range of choices from intricate, to simple. Basford has touched on all things oceanic from images of creatures of the deep - fish, octopuses, mermaids, lobsters, crabs to sunken galleons and their treasures, whimsical designs and more. The last picture is a double sided four page foldout - okay I am indeed saving that one 'til last. Every page from cover to copyright page has images to bring colour to. And then there's the added fun of trying to also find hidden images in the drawings - diamonds, rings, keys, gold coins and others. (No worries - there's an answer key at the back!) Lost Ocean is produced on nice, clean, crisp white stock - all your colour choices will show up true. I thought I would start with imagining some brightly coloured fish under the waves. Remember - there's no 'right' way to colour - enjoy it! Have you tried adult colouring books yet? Lost Ocean would be a good one to get your feet wet! (pun intended!)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fun way to kill time Apparently I am very bad at colouring but this helps me take my mind off stress in my life. It also helps remind me to look at the big picture rather than every little mistake I make.
Date published: 2015-12-08
Rated 5 out of 5 by from This book is amazing. Pre-ordered it a week before it came out, got it a week after it came out and actually got it earlier than expected. The book is well made, thick white pages, and no slip cover, they just made the actual cover the way the slip cover would have been, over all great quality. All Johanna's books area amazing, the art work is top notch. Makes it hard to decide wither you want to colour it or leave it blank and just look at it.
Date published: 2015-12-03
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Still a favourite. The standard. I enjoy all the books by this artist. I wish the format was better. It's too tedious to color near the book binding which makes finishing your page difficult. The pencil colors bleed onto the page facing it. This should be one page without another facing it and a couple inches border around each image. The images are fun to color although far too repetitive.
