In 1671, Sir Henry Morgan, last of the British buccaneers, assembled more than 1,000 cutthroats and sacked the Spanish City of Panama. Knowing that Morgan was coming, the Spanish loaded the ancient galleon Nuestra Señora de la Trinidad with an incredible quantity of silver and gold bullion together with a large number of people, then hid her behind the Island of Taboga in the Gulf of Panama. The pirates took the city in short order and nearly captured the ship, but the Trinidad slipped away in the night, never to be seen again. I spent a number of years in Panama and became fascinated by the mystery of the lost Trinidad, reading everything I could find on the subject. Unable to search for her myself, I have done the next best thing by writing a modern day novel that mixes high adventure, drug smugglers, itinerant treasure hunters, and a bit of romance with a synopsis of documented facts concerning the lost Trinidad, together with my prediction of where she lies today. Will someone who reads my novel find this incredible treasure? I certainly hope so! (If you're the one who finds her, sending me a couple of gold ingots would be a nice gesture....) By the way, Morgan's flagship ran aground and sank at the beginning of his invasion of Panama. The wreck has recently been found and is being documented. Do an internet search on Morgan's ship Satisfaction and read all about it.
