Rated 4 out of 5 by from Supernatural served up hot About thirty years ago nineteen children were all born on the same day, at the same time, some premature, some past due, all prophesized. Eighteen are the last of the Outsiders, a race of supernaturally charged defenders of humanity. One is pure evil born to a human set of parents. He brought about the death of all the other Outsiders except the eighteen and one guardian meant to keep them all safe. Spells gone awry and only three of the babies end up with the guardian. One of the missing fifteen is eventually found. That left fourteen lost children spread out across the planet. The race is on to find the fourteen. They are all grown and evil is hunting them. Isabelle is one of the lost. Although she had a few weird things happen while growing up her parents convinced her it was all coincidental or imagination at work. She has no clue of her powers. A woman with a strong protective streak she has worked hard to become a social worker. When her latest assignment sends her to the backside of nowhere to investigate an abused child she walks into a trap. Pursued through the woods she literally runs into Kal, one of the Outsider children raised by the guardian and her soul mate. Kal has had a harsh upbringing. Thinking himself unworthy he’s given up on looking for a soul mate. All warrior with both offensive and defensive powers he’s protective from the get go. The chemistry between Kal and Isabelle is instantaneous and off the charts. While on the run with Isabelle, Kal explains their mutual heritage. You might think their connection is too quick but with the side of supernatural that is served up it works. The presentation of backstory, character and world building and action are paced well within the heat of their relationship. There was enough angst and violence to get a real feel for the evil of their enemy. The presentation of the secondary characters has me waiting for their stories and wanting to know more about the other thirteen children that are out there somewhere. I’m definitely looking forward to more in this series. I was given this book in exchange for an honest review.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice Series a good read LOVE BEYOND TIME (The Outsides #1) – REBECCA ROYCE This is the first of The Outsiders series it give a background into what happening. Like all good firsts should do. 18 individuals, 9 males, 9 females and 9 pairs of soul mates they are strong separately but together they make a complete unit that make their power stronger. A good versus evil story where the Outsiders are the good, they are trying to bring balance to the world and stop evil taking over in the forms of demons. The evil at the moment is demon called Sebastian. The leader of the outsiders Abraxas sends all 18 of the children to safety with Veli but only three (Leonardo, Charma, Kal) make it to him the rest are scattered all over the world they find Marina. Veli and the three he have then spend time either looking for the others or running for their lives from Sebastian. It is only when all 18 are together as soul mates that they can defeat the Evil. In Love Beyond Time (Kal) finds his soul mate in Isabell. While they are getting to know each other Drew turns up and he is the soul mate for Marina. Unfortunately Drew doesn’t think that he is good enough or that he wants to be involved in what is happening. Kal gets pulled through space and the other need to find him before it is too late. When Kal is found they also find that two more outsiders (Gabriel and Alexa) are with Sebastian they believe that Sebastian is good and the Outsiders are the evil that need to stopped. After receiving this Arc for an honest review I can honestly say I was not disappointed and think any reader of the paranormal will enjoy this story

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Rebecca Royce does it again Rebecca Royce has my vote for this new series, The Outsiders. My perception of the first book is that it is action-packed and exploitative in its nature, with the main characters finding out what their individual talents-powers are and how far they can be utilised. The balance of good and evil being out of kilter and the striving of the main characters to restore that power has the reader gripped from start to finish. Added to this are the twists and turns to the tale which continue throughout the whole book - I hope they continue through the series as it was an element to the tale that was particularly gripping in my view. For me, this was one of the first books related to magic that I have read and a departure from most of the paranormal books I have so far read. That being said it certainly caught my imagination and I look forward to continuing reading the series. However, it did take me a little while to get into the book (this has happened with other series I have read, so it was not unexpected), but once into the book I became hooked. So hooked that I was irritated when interrupted to go to work! I am, therefore, pleased it is part of a series as there was an element of some of the plot being hurried along. I am hoping in the next book the pace slows a tad, so the storyline can be savoured. There was a slight use of slang when the two main characters were interacting and it grated slightly. I would personally preferred that such slang words were not used as it seemed at odds with the deep relationship they had. However, this was a personal preference and did not overtly effect the tenor of the book. Once again Rebecca Royce has not disappointed this reader.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great beginning!!! Rebecca Royce just does not get it wrong! I must say this first book certainly holds a great deal of promise for The Outsiders series. This book introduces us to the concept of the Outsiders and to the first set of soul mates for the group, Kal and Isabelle. Those two are electric... and not just because of Kal’s powers. ;-) What a great couple! I really love the concept of the Outsiders soul mates and how they make each other stronger. There’s really a little bit of everything in this story... drama, romance, intrigue, magic, sensuality, and love. I’m really looking forward to the next installment in the series. I have a feeling this is just going to keep getting better and better! * I was given a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The 1st adventure in a new world. I’ll admit it – the new covers on this re-release drew me to the book. I usually have to be in a certain frame of mind for science fiction-fantasy type stories, and when I started reading I wasn’t sure I would be able to finish it at this time. However, once I got through the prologue the characters story drew me in entirely. Poor tortured Kal, his life started out on the same rotten level as the other Outsiders, but his never improved. In fact, while their ‘guardian’ Veli seemed to suppress all of them, he held a nasty disdain for Kal simply because he never liked Kal’s father. And when Rebecca Royce decides to make a character suffer, she has some serious skill at crushing their souls. The Dark Evil hunting down the Outsiders has one agenda, torturing humans until he can rule the world. He plays twisted mind games with the Outsiders, which reveals the completeness of his evil. I’m almost afraid to see how the character develops in future stories. I’m hoping he doesn’t. Isabelle is the fresh, bright force not raised with the other Outsiders she’s able to call BS on the guardian Veli when he pulls stupid stunts and belittles Kal and the other Outsiders. I felt bad for him at the beginning of the story, but by the end my feelings for his character shifted. I’m looking forward to the next story in the series; to watching the five characters I’ve grown to know develop and find the remaining members of their race. It’s going to be a great ride.
