about

When thirty-four-year-old Chloe Morgan appears on Hank Oliver's doorstep in Cameron, Arizona, she arrives with more than her old white German shepherd, Hannah, and a rambunctious young horse in tow. Chloe is pregnant with Hank's child, and she's as tough-talking and vulnerable, skittish and tender as when last we saw her in Jo-Ann Mapson's acclaimed first novel, Hank & Chloe. As Chloe and Hank settle somewhat uneasily into domesticity, a local Navajo legend named Junior Whitebear returns home to collect his father's ashes and renew his own spirit after years spent in the art-world fast lane. When Junior arrives at the reservation, he doesn't expect to find a son he fathered unwittingly nine years ago; nor is he looking to fall in love with Chloe and to deliver her baby girl. Both events change his life, and the lives of those around him, forever. A passionate love story, Loving Chloe explores the emotional complexity of a love triangle with sympathy, humor, and compassion.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Raw Romance in Arizona Chloe has come to Hank with their child in her belly, her head still muddled and her heart still unsure. Enter Junior Whitebear and experience a true example of a love triangle and its brutal face of struggle, deceit and anguish. I was disturbed more than once on how the story played out and can't say that I ended up liking the characters in the end, though Mapson does a brilliant job of developing them into rich personalities. She brings their past to the present, to show us how Hank, Chloe and Junior came to be who they are now. The story is gripping and the feelings are real. My heart broke a couple times over and I wanted to scream out at some decisions that were made. I really felt the anguish that everyone was experiencing in making decisions that would change their lives forever. I would have loved to give this book a higher rating, but there were many times that I thought that Mapson jumped from 'scene to scene'. I couldn't always figure out what brought the charact

From Our Editors

The main male characters in this book discover they’re fathers at an alarming rate. Hank, who lives in the mountains of Arizona, receives Chloe who’s carrying Hank’s child. Junior Whitebear comes home to tend to his father’s ashes -- he’s been away working as a renowned artist -- only to discover he’s got a nine-year-old son. Jo-Ann Mapson’s story also rests on a love triangle when Junior falls in love with Chloe and helps her deliver her baby. Loving Chloe is a heartfelt story about magical and rapid change told in clear, wise language.
