This contemporary romantic suspense novel from five-time New York Times bestselling author Melissa Marr earned widespread critical acclaim, with Kirkus Reviews calling it a "riveting whodunit that delivers a bouquet of teen romance, paranormal, and thriller." And BCCB declared, "Between the suspense, the horror, the romance, and the wit, this will have equal appeal for fans of Sarah Dessen and Rosemary Clement-Moore."

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A Good Read I got this book a few months ago and didn't actually read it until yesterday, but I'm sure glad I finally did because it was a pretty entertaining book. For a mystery/thriller it kind of lacked on originality in my opinion, there wasn't really huge plot twist or surprise that kept me on my toes. However it was still entertaining and flowed really nicely, a good quick read I would recommend for anyone.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Gripping Contemporary Murder-Mystery "Made For You" by Melissa Marr is an enthralling and gripping contemporary blend of murder, mystery and romance with a taste of the paranormal that sparks with high intensity after an injured Eva Cooper-Tilling awakens injured in a hospital room. As Detective Grant and the police search for the hit-and -run driver, Eva discovers a unique new ability to divine people's deaths when she touches their skin. Wanting to unravel the mystery of why someone would want to kill her and her friends,, Eva joins forces with Nate an old flame with a seedy reputation and her best friend Grace, a newcomer to Jessup who hides a secret in her past. But, as Eva's friendship blossoms into romance with Nate and clues to the killer's identity begin to emerge death will stalk all three. Melissa Marr has set the stage for this page turner in Jessup, North Carolina, a community that values people by their social class and ancestry. In this backdrop Eva Cooper-Tilling, her family considered one of the most wealthy and important of the elite, blends in by pretending to be less smart , observant ,and very accepting of the shallowness and faults of her friends. Yet for all her pretensions including a suitable boyfriend, she yearns for the arms of Nate Bouchet, a boy haunted by the infidelity of his father, a step-brother with muscular dystrophy and a reputation as a drinker and "man-slut". With the hit-and-run accident that almost kills Eva, the author sets a dark, sinister and violent mood tempered only by unconditional love, friendship, forgiveness and deliverance. The story is told through the eyes of Eva, Grace and the murderer who calls himself the "Judge". It's action-packed, intoxicating and mysterious as the only clues to the assault and murders are flowers which hold strange meanings, and messages carved into the backs of two of the victims. With clever dexterity Melissa Marr creates a realistic tale with a lethal obsession, strange ability and a blossoming romance that's not only highly entertaining but grips the reader with every twist and turn as events unfold. My only criticism is that Nate's down-slide into depravity and Grace's past were never fully explained. Eva Tilling is a smart, independent and caring seventeen year old who's logical and highly responsible because of neglectful parents who are constantly out of the country. Nate Boucet, the teen with the pariah reputation masks his sensitive, compassionate and loving side, distancing himself from Eva and her friends until a near tragedy crumbles his reserve. It's their love that gives them the strength to move beyond any road blocks that could hamper their relationship. Included among a diverse score of personalities who add power, passion and depth to this story is Grace Yeung the sensible and outspoken best friend who hides her own secrets ; Piper Kennelly the obnoxious snob who's targeted by the killer; the tarnished, and sexually addicted Amy; and Eva's ex-boyfriend Robert Baucom who's popular, artificial and a cheater in love with a girl considered unsuitable. Yet of all the characters it's the Judge, haunted by an abusive past who adds chills and suspense to the plot with his manic obsession, impatience, delusions and mercilessness. I thoroughly enjoyed " Made For You" with its dark foreboding and fascinating complex characters in an imaginative and well-written plot. I rate Melissa Marr's first foray into this genre highly and will look for more novels by her in future

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Loved this mystery, such a smooth read, so worth your time! "Made For You" by Melissa Marr is a wonderfully easy book to enjoy. It's been dubbed a "contemporary YA novel" that "is a twisted southern gothic tale of obsession, romance, and murder." I, however, would say it's an easy to read and enjoyable mystery with a tiny bit of paranormal thrown in to make it interesting. The term Young Adult (YA) can sometimes be confusing. I guarantee adults will enjoy this book, I certainly did and I didn't feel like it was somehow "dumbed down" or less enjoyable because young adults would also love it. The mysterious story centers around our main character, Eva Cooper-Tilling. She is a smart, privileged, wealthy seventeen year old who is remarkably unspoiled by her upbringing and circumstances. Eva is wonderfully self assured and self reliant, as the reader, you root for her to rise above the harrowing mess she finds herself embroiled in. Eva lives in Jessup, a small Southern town that relies on status to keep everyone in their place. If you're from the right side of the tracks so to speak, you are worthy to be in the popular group. Eva finds these rules endlessly boring, tedious and stifling. She admits that her friends can sometimes be callus and status climbing but she's loyal to them and blames the small town for making it's young adults bow to duty, parentage, wealth and status. The mystery starts when someone runs Eva over, leaving her on the side of the road, broken, battered and with a serious head injury. When Eva awakens in the hospital after several touch-and-go days of unconsciousness, she finds she has an unusual new skill. When others touch her, she can see their deaths. Eva, because of her brain injury, is unsure what to make of her new visions. The Police question whether the accident was indeed an accident. Maybe someone deliberately tried to kill Eva. So starts the headlong rush to find out just what happened to Eva and weather there is in fact a Killer in her small North Carolina town. I really enjoyed reading this book. I found the addition of Eva's visions easy to accept as they were so well written. I certainly am not surprised that the book was so enjoyable as Melissa Marr is "the New York Times bestselling author of the Wicked Lovely series." I loved trying to figure out who was obsessed with Eva. I found myself wishing there were more pages in the book when it ended as I loved the characters so much, I wanted them to continue. I think that's a really good sign, when you miss the characters you just read about. The one extra detail that made me want to read "Made For You" was that it was based on true events that happened to the author. Melissa Marr was inspired by her own "harrowing experiences with a real-life stalker". I have to give this book a five out of five. No book is ever perfect but this nudges itself out of the fours and into the fives by being just so easily accessible and smooth to read. I look forward to more Mellissa Mar novels. Let's hope she continues to write mysteries along with the paranormal books she also writes. HarperCollins is publishing this book on September 16th so check it out then!
