Schuyler Van Alen wants an explanation for the mysterious deaths of young vampires. With her best friend, Oliver, Schuyler travels to Italy in the hope of finding the one man who can help-her grandfather. Meanwhile, back in New York, preparations are feverishly underway for the Four Hundred Ball, an exclusive gala hosted by the city's wealthy, powerful, and unhuman-a true Blue Blood affair.
But it's at the after-party, a masquerade ball thrown by the cunning Mimi Force, that the real danger lurks. Hidden behind the masks is a revelation that will forever change the course of a young vampire's destiny.

Rich with glamour, attitude, and vampire lore, this second installment in the Blue Bloods saga will leave readers thirsting for more.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Mystery and Intrigue, vampire style. The vampire elements of the book are unique, and are not the sole focus of the story. It's interesting the learn more about the characters we fell in love with before.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from great teen book different from other vampire books: less about romance and more about solving a mystery, also a darker tone.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Slow I didn't like Masquerade as much a Blue Bloods. This was also slow and hard to get through at times.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great action-packed sequel! With a new mission on her hands, Schuyler and her best friend Oliver travel to Venice in search of the grandfather that hasn’t been seen in years, and who Schuyler believes will hold the answers to her questions about her Blue Bloods heritage. Back in New York City, plans are underway for the annual Four Hundred Ball – a gala both celebrating all things Blue Bloods. Mimi’s bond with her twin brother Jack runs deeper than just mere siblings and she becomes increasingly envious at Schuyler’s crush on him. When some actions borne out of jealousy send the vampire world into disarray, the centuries-formed alliances are put to the test and the Blue Bloods must decide who they can trust. While I do love books set in Manhattan, this was a nice twist with adding Venice to the mix. The level of detail and insider knowledge to the local fare was worked really well into the story. My only gripe would be that there wasn’t enough of the book set there. I adored the descriptive extravagance of the masquerade ball, with all the mysterious possibilities of flirtations that entails. This book also begins to set up the bigger story arc, where the focus shifts from Upper East Side glamour to jetsetting vampires hunting down a larger evil. Even so, de la Cruz’s fashion background still comes out in her books with the fabulous way she works in the details to outfits – even when it’s not for a fashion show or gala scene. Great second installment with an action-packed second half of the book. This, and other reviews can be found on

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So much better than the first one!!!!! I thought that this was going to be a pretty good sequel after reading the first one, but I was so wrong!!! This was a great sequel, it exceeded my expectations. It was really exciting, the mystery definantly picked up and more in this one, the characters developed more in this book, making it that much better. There was some more romance in this one, which made it really good as well. In this sequel, Schuyler has to kind her grandfather in Venice, meanwhile, Mimi plans the Masquerade, where only Blue Bloods are invited to got to the after party where the masks are worn. A mystery guy approaches Bliss, she has no idea who it is, but the mystery reveals him more than just a guy hiding his identity. Soon the plot picks up, and Mimi does something dangerous, making this book an exciting sequel that makes this series even better. The first book is a little bit dissapointing, but once you read the secound one, you won't regret reading this Vampire filled trilogy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great even better than the First This book was also one of my favourites that led me to read on. I was good with the love affairs going on with each character well developed as we learn more about them in every book. I read the first three books in the series in a matter of at least 3 days because they were that good to read.
