Following the successful model of Me on the Map, Sweeney demystifies an abstract concept by presenting it from a child's point of view. In Me and My Family Tree, a young girl uses simple language, her own childlike drawings, and diagrams to explain how the members of her family are related to each other and to her. Clear, colorful, detailed artwork and a fill-in family tree in the back help make the parts of the family--from
siblings to grandparents to cousins--
understandable to very young readers.
Joan Sweeney and Annette Cable continue to collaborate on the highly successful Me and My . . .  series.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great intro to genealogy! We bought this book for our daughter for Christmas (she's 4 and a half). I am a genealogist so I wanted to share my interest with her. It gets the basics down and also touches on interracial relationships, which can be something a child might be curious out when it comes to their own family tree. It could be a little more interactive but it explains it well enough and allows the child to get a grasp on a what a family tree truly is. There is a blank family tree in the back for your child to fill in as well.

From Our Editors

This paperback edition of Me and My Family Tree introduces young children to the science of genealogy. Created by the author and illustrator team of Joan Sweeney and Annette Cable, who are responsible for the popular Me and My series, Me and My Family Tree uses simple diagrams and language to explain how one little girl's family members are related to each other. The book also includes a blank family tree so that your child can fill in his or her own genealogical details — and learn more about the relatives!
