Rated 5 out of 5 by from Emotional I couldn't breath with this one. Chest literally hurt from the emotions. This is what a love story is. Not just a romantic lovey-dovey kind of story. Refreshing to read a book that is a perfect balance of fantasy and real-life scenes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Loved it! I found this to be a very emotional book! I was sobbing at my desk at one point! But it was a great read!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Amazing Story Great storyline overall. I loved the little quirks that Jojo Meyes brought in the characters. However, I did find it a little difficult to really connect with the characters. I personally thought the movie had a lot more emotions.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Loved it! I'm not one for romantic novels, but this book was just so good! Although sad, its very heartwarming. The movie is really good too!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Brilliant story Wonderfully written and a beautiful tale. So honest and truthful. For anyone with disabilities, it is a story that is so close to home and so beautifully understood. For those without disabilities, it is a great look into the thoughts of those with disabilities.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing story I got this book as a birthday gift. I absolutely loved it!!! What an emotional roller coaster it put me on. I couldn't put the book down. I highly recommend this book.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from so beautiful and sad and brave and heartbreaking ... LOVED IT!!! I don't read romance novels but with all the hyp and tweets from chapters and i always trust chapters I decided to buy it. I was so happy i did. To me this really isn't a romance novel its a love story. It's beautiful, sad, heartbreaking, brave, frustrating and i sound redundant so so sad. I'm still frustrated by Will the fact that love was not enough. I'm understanding and Jojo did write and inform well the battles and demons and sadness that Will had to deal with on an ongoing basis day in day out every second of his day. It broke my heart. Louisa is a heroine of grand proportions. A brave, kind, lovely and quirky girl she had my heart. I love this book and highly recommend it 100%

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simply Amazing This book was recommended to me by one of the sales clerks at Coles and to be honest, I was skeptical to read a "romance novel", but I soon learned that Jojo Moyes does love stories with a twist! After reading the synopsis, I was certain I would never understand how love could not be enough for Will to not want to end his life, but by the end of this book, my perspective changed regarding this subject.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Me Before You Well, I didn't cry quite as hard as I did with the Notebook, but I am thankful for that. Well written characters with a somewhat darker plot, Me Before You really touches you and makes you think (unusual for a romance type novel).

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Enjoyed it! The book was a bit slow at first but the plot picked up. A lot of detail. A lot better than the movie. I loved the characters. The style of writing also gave the reader a good sense of how each character feels.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazingly thought provoking Will and Lou are a love story like no other I've ever read. On one hand I learned about what it might be like to be a paraplegic and on the other, to love a paraplegic. I read this book twice and had deep reactions both times. Thank-you Jojo Moyes for an excellent book that brought me to new human awareness.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice story, but perhaps a little over-hyped I read this book in a day while home sick, and I did enjoy it. Obviously if I'd hated it, I would have put it down and just watched tv or napped, however I did enjoy the characters the the perspectives on disability and the effect it has on those affected and the people around them. I did not have the same visceral emotional reaction to this book as many did, and I think that it was talked up a ton and perhaps I was just expecting too much. This is a decent and easy read that will certainly make you think.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A roller coaster of emotions I read this a while ago, and it's a real page-turner. My heart broke so many times, but along the way, it also felt warm and comforted by our leading characters.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Heartwarming read! This is a really great love story that will make you laugh, smile and cry. The characters are great and relatable, and the story leaves you looking for the best from your own life. I am a big fan of Jojo Moyes, and would recommend this as well as her other books if you are looking for enjoyable stories.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Story I have yet to see the movie and not sure that I will. The novel was so good I don't want to wreck it. Jo Jo's writing is easy but makes you feel like you are there. Very moving

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautifully tragic love story This is hands down one of my favorite books, but it breaks my heart every time I read it. With thoughtfully and lovingly written prose, the words in the book are intoxicating and heartbreaking all at once. A beautiful story with dynamic characters - especially the bubbly, quirky, vintage loving Lou. I devoured this book and found it near impossible to put down.
Date published: 2017-07-12
Rated 1 out of 5 by from predictable I was given this book by a friend and really couldn't get attached to any of the characters. Found it to be really predictable about what would happen for the most part. Fans of romance books will probably enjoy it though.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Classic Chiclit I was recommended this book by a friend, but I wouldn't have picked it out myself. Glad I read it - the writing is well done - but the ending seemed a bit to cliché (and also horribly sad). Very girly.
Date published: 2017-06-07
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Okay book I bought this book because of the trailer (of the movie) and I was a bit disappointed. I'm really happy of the theme the author wrote about in the book and the way she explored it, but I was bored half of the time and had to force myself to finish the book.
Date published: 2017-05-22
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tear jerker but such a good story! I finally gave in and read this book and I think I cried for about the last 100 pages. You obviously know what is coming just from the title but the depth the story goes to really keeps you drawn in. The author really brings you into both stories in the book even though it is written from mostly one point of view. I highly recommend this book just be prepared for the tears that ensue.
Date published: 2017-05-08
Rated 4 out of 5 by from an emotional read!! This book has a powerful message and I love that it is about him having the choice of what to do with himself.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So amazing I loved the movie, so I decided to purchase the book to read it as well. Usually I read the book first then the movie...but I did things opposite this time. I really found that since my love for the movie was so great I was very excited to find out more about each character that wasn't portrayed in the film. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who loved the movie, its a wonderful expansion.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Definitely recommend! Sometimes a book comes along that just hits you right in the heart. I absolutely loved the plot line and Will is such a sassy, hilarious guy who definitely brings out the best in Louisa. I loved their love story so much but be prepared for the very emotional ending! A wonderful heartfelt story - defintely a must-read!
Date published: 2017-04-27
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Loved this! This book definitely takes you on an emotional journey! It's heartfelt and sad but at the same time really makes you open your eyes and take a better look at the little things that are bothering you at the moment and realize that maybe they're not so important. Perfect balance between love story and real life heartache.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Conflicted I loved the characters but I was slightly upset by the subject matter. It was definitely not what I expected but I couldn't help but fall in love with Louisa and her determined spirit. It's a good read once you can get past certain things. I don't want to spoil anything so I will leave it at that.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love It! I had heard about Me Before You and wanted to read it, as all the comments about it were so positive. I ended up seeing the movie first, which solidified that I needed to read the book! So I did and I loved it even more than the movie. I have purchased the sequel and am eager to read it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Flat, one-dimensional storyline After rave reviews from friends, I tried to get into this book but I found it really boring and the characters so one-dimensional. Couldn't even finish it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I mean... The main reason I felt in love with this book is because I can related to it in so many way! It is very charming and beautiful. !
Date published: 2017-02-07
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Ableist and Unromantic I'll admit it. I finished it and I cried like a baby. I liked the main character's sense of fashion. But a romance novel this was not. And on the pure fact that the moral of the story was that it is better to be dead than to be differently abled was completely offensive. So, yeah. One star.
Date published: 2017-02-06
Rated 5 out of 5 by from One of my favourites ever! Jojo Moyers did a great job creating the main character, so funny. A hard to put down book. Nice narrative. Forget the movie, read the book instead.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Predictable After all the rave-reviews surrounding this book, i had expected much more from it. The story line was straightforward and easy to follow and the characters were relatable and easy to like and understand. However, I found it easy to predict the ending and a little cliche.
Date published: 2017-01-18
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Book! I read this book about a year before the movie came out and reread it after I found out about the movie version. This book is amazing, if you liked the movie, you'll enjoy this even more!!

Date published: 2017-01-13
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Loved it I picked this book up yesterday morning, and could not put it down. I stayed up reading til 12:00 a.m. just to finish it, even putting off the long anticipated Season 2 premiere of Outlander!! I was expecting good things from this book, based on the reviews, but was not prepared for just how riveted I was by the story. I have to admit, I was surprised by the ending and that's all I will say about that. This author reminds me of Jodi Picoult, who is one of my favourite authors because she has a beautiful way of writing about difficult subjects and making you empathize with all of the characters, even if you don't agree with them. Will also reminds me of Lincoln Rhyme (Jeffrey Deaver), for obvious reasons (if you know that character). They both have traveled similar paths. Rhyme is also one of my favourite fictional characters so that probably made me love the story even more. I'm going to start The Girl You Left Behind next.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good read This was a beautiful love story of 2 people who found each other at difficult times in their lives. I found myself hoping for the happy ending throughout the whole story and was a little disappointed with the ending. All in all it is a good read and heartfelt story that makes you think about the meaning of life.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Predictable but Enjoyable I am a skeptic when it comes to books made for movies, for books with hype, and for books with melodramatic scenarios. But what can I say? I enjoyed it. I cried. Not a book I'd reread for depth of character or plot, but still worth reading when you need something to really get into quickly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful I fell in love with Lou, mostly because she is so relatable! I love how strong she is, and her passion for what and who she loves. Moyes had me laughing, crying, and screaming at friends to read this!
Date published: 2016-12-12
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Loved it. A very knowledgable and insightful perspective on the topic of quadriplegics and other topics surrounding the issues and conflicts and emotions involved. It is heartbreaking and devastating. I can't imagine being in these situations or having to watch someone go through it all. I don't think I'd do well in Will's or Louisa's position, my heart yearns for both of them. I did not like Katrina. I'm sorry, but she had a superiority complex and ridiculously selfish attitude from the start even when she was the tiniest bit sympathetic she still made assertive points about herself. The story was beautiful, I loved Louisa and Will. I truly loved Louisa for her character and personality; and her determination towards making Will happy. The ending was somewhat what I expected but also unexpected. I didn't expect to feel the way I did upon finishing this book but it's an okay feeling. The message portrayed is something I fully agree with and the way this book carries the message is perfect. Although I do have wishes that things had turned out differently, I think the ending overall was still really good. I have mixed feelings that's basically what I can say about this haha.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My New Favourite Book In anticipation of the upcoming movie release, I purchased this book so that I could walk into the movie with the full story. I'm glad I did: the movie was enjoyable, but nothing compared to this beautifully written and emotional masterpiece. Heart wrenching with just the right amount of humor and romance. I appreciate the research that Jojo Moyes had to have done to write such a detailed description of what Will Traynor had gone through. I could read this book forever.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Loved Me Before You by Jojo Moyes is an absolutely amazing novel, both story wise and the writing style. Lou lives a simple life, always just accepting what she has and never dreams of anything better. Lou puts up with her exercise obsessed boyfriend Patrick, who is self centered, constantly tells her to lose weight and doesn’t treat her with respect, Lou knows she doesn’t love Patrick but he helps provide for her family but can not stand her matched boyfriend. Lou constantly feels under her sister’s shadow, since her sister gets all the opportunities although she got pregnant and dropped out of university. Lou constantly has to give up all the things she deserves in order to provide for her whole entire family. Will, a paraplegic who was so adventurous before his accident. In the novel they influence each other, making each other live to the fullest and fall in love in the process. Will’s parents hire Lou to convince Will not to commit self-suicide due to his dissatisfaction with life. I didn’t know what to expect, I saw that it was going to be a Major Motion Picture so it was safe to assume that the novel would be extraordinary but it was much more. Me Before You by Jojo Moyes teach life lessons that everyone should learn, lessons about how to enjoy what you have but also that If you have the opportunity to explore new things never to settle. Throughout the entire emotional story, as a reader I never failed to be bored, whether the dialogue between characters captured me or within my own mind I was always intrigued. The ending was absolutely heartbreaking but I am glad it was not a cliché ending. Louisa was a very easy character to connect with as well as Will; although he would seem to be a stock character, Moyes happened to make him completely different from the typical ‘bad boy’ character. Jojo Moyes created a beautiful piece of literature, one that will last beyond her time. This story leaves a significant impact on any reader; I definitely recommend this novel to everyone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful story! This is such an honest, thought-provoking, and heartbreaking novel. It brings up difficult questions about a controversial topic, and it made me think about what I would do if I were in the characters’ shoes. I found myself unable to stop turning the pages, desperate to find out what happens next. This book is never predictable nor is it cliché. It is the kind of story that stays with you long after you have finished reading the last page! I highly recommend this novel. #plumreview

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing realistic characters and world! I absolutely loved this book. I was a little hesitant as I had heard the subject matter was a little dark. Despite the heavy content. Moyes writes beautifully and realistically with loving wit thrown in throughout to soften the content. Laugh out loud funny and ugly cry ending. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really Enjoyed this book! I really enjoyed this book and I was sad when it was over. I really enjoy the light hearted writing style of Jojo Moyes and the characters that she developed throughout the novel were very enjoyable and realistic and easy to relate to. I have now read two novels by Moyes, and I cannot wait to read more of her works!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very enjoyable I really enjoyed this novel. It has such a good story and the characters are very rounded and dimensional. I'm glad I picked up the novel, the movie absolutely pails in comparison.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Cute and Easy to Read While it wasn't an extremely original and a bit predictable, it was a very cute and fun story! There were a bit of controversial themes surrounding disabled peoples in it, and that may bother some people, but for the story and characters itself, extremely likable!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Such a good story I watched the movie before reading the book. As usual, the book is soo much better than the film. There is so much to this story, it is not your typical novel. It is easy to lose yourself in the story and not put the book down. Such an incredible book!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Couldn't put it down! I absolutely loved this book. I fell in love with Lou, Will and their story. It was heartbreaking, funny, and tragic all the same. I was so captivated by the story line and the characters that I had to take a little break to recover before reading After You. It touches on many different subjects - free will, quality of life, finding your own path in life, and moving on. I strongly recommend.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Did not like Just finished reading this and it took me nearly 5 months to get through, I usually get through books this length in 2 weeks. The plot was so predictable and boring, and the characters felt very two dimensional. I especially hate the ending because **SPOILER ALERT** the main guy kills himself because he can't live with being disabled. What kind of message is that sending to young disabled people, because that's who the book is being marketed towards. I felt that the entire book was incredibly ableist, and I can't believe that this is supposed to be a "feel good, happy, rom-com" when it was just disgusting. Overall, if you're thinking about reading this, just don't, save your time and read something by another author.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Ok but not great *Spoiler alert, maybe* The plot for me was predictable. I wished there was a moment where Will thought about changing his mind. I wanted more dialogue between the two main characters instead of just reading what Louisa was thinking the whole time. She was supposed to be chatty after all. There were definitely some good twists but for me the ending was not as poignant as I would have liked. Andddddddd it took so long for them to kiss...sorry I'm just a girl after all.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from EHHHHH..? i ordered this book from the library on an audio book and i came out extremely disappointed. what i did like was jojo's great writing. the characters in this book felt very much alive and full of life (especially Louisa Clarke). what i didnt like about this book was the strong sense of ableism. bacisally i felt that at every moment will was devauled and only used as a plot devise. i also didnt like how the entire plot of this story was to make louisa more happy and to have a life and not will's. i also felt like how the characters didnt really hlp will at all. there was no talk of seeing a therapist or talk to other quadriplegic people and get real help. now i will stil read more books by jojo moyes because i did like her writing but i didnt like this book

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Just a good book. I can not say that this was my all-time favorite book. Although it was a great book, there was nothing that emotion-triggering about it up until the end. It was a lot like the movie "The Intouchables", but a love story instead. This book did bring up a controversial topic into fiction literature, and through that, many characters got to express different views on the topic, which was interesting to read. PS: DEFINITELY read before watching the movie.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Wasn't Great This book definitely isn't wasn't worth the price. I went into the story not knowing the ending, but when I found out I was very intrigued to read how that difficult topic was going to be wrestled with by the characters.... The characters were loveable enough, but I kept wanting more especially from Will and the main Lou. The switching of the perspectives in the latter portion of the book was kind of a lazy way to tell the story. I never as a reader truly got inside the mind of any of the characters beyond the superficial (Lou was only slightly deeper... but even then it wasn't very reflective). You could already piece together the entire characters within the first few paragraphs.... Seemed like a fluff piece that was made with a hollywood movie in mind at some point. Overall if I'm going to be investing time and money into a book this wouldn't be it. Save yourself both and just see the movie instead.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Whirlwind of emotion What a beautiful and emotional book. With every turn of a page it sends you on a whirlwind of emotions from happy to sad to all the feels inbetween. You feel yourself being pulled in two different directions between Lou and Will. Always routing on Lou to do her best in hopes to help will, but at the same time trying to understand and see the way Will feels from his perspective of his situation. Although it is quite predictable on how the story pans out, you do feel invested in the characters and still go through all the emotions as if you didn't know the outcome. Overall this book was beautiful and beautifully written. I would recommend this book to anyone who asks about it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Would Recommend! I bought this book knowing I would probably like it. I was not disappointed. It has a good story, moves along at a regular/sustained pace, the characters are lovable in their own way, and there is no pretense of perfection. You know not to expect a fairytale ending, and that's alright. From the beginning, I was hooked, and I would recommend this read to anyone. Make sure you have tissues if you get easily emotional.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Intense and Quirky- A Rare Find! I got through this book way too fast, despite my best efforts to put it down and walk away from it. Although it was a quick read, that is not because of poor writing; the writing is perfect and it is impossible to draw yourself out of the world in the book. I walked around like a mope the whole time I was reading it, and for days after. It's one of those books that made my heart hurt, and completely consumed my thoughts. I just wish I could go back in time and read it again for the first time. Definitely a must read.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolutely Intoxicating - A Must Read! I read this novel in a 30-hour time frame, even though I was trying to force myself to put it down so that I could be a part of Lou and Wills world just a while longer... Still, weeks after reading it, the story and themes are in my thoughts every day. Once you finish this book, you by no means are done with the intricate and breathtaking story of Me Before You. An absolute classic that I am getting everyone I know to read. Thank you, Jojo Moyes for giving me this reality to escape into.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from THE absolute must read Just finished my second reading of this fantastic book, in anticipation of the movie coming June 3rd. Me Before You has been a personal favourite of mine for years. I’m fairly certain I have talked to almost everyone I know about the book at some point. I have worked for Indigo for almost many years, and I am 100% serious when I say I have never received more enthusiastic, consistently positive feedback about any book recommendation I have given than I have for Me Before You. Friends, family members, co-workers – everyone makes the effort to come back and tell me how much they loved Louisa & Will’s story. This book is not your standard ‘chick lit’ – it is book about two very ordinary people in an extraordinary situation, and is written with equal parts humour and heartbreak from a very talented writer.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Why am I not enough for you? Contains Minor Spoilers: Me Before You first grabbed my attention when it's movie trailer was first released. I was so overwhelmed with emotion, I just knew that the book would make me feel that way and possibly more. So off I went asking for a copy for my birthday, after receiving a copy I wasted no time at all in starting it. I always hate when people say "Don't judge a book by it's movie.", it's usually always correct, especially in this case. By just watching the trailer, I had assumed a bunch of things when going into the book. Most of which turned out wrong. Me Before You is not primarily a romance, sure it's sort of there, but it's definitely not focused around it. Me Before You is a book of trying to convince Will to live, to show that life can still be like the way it was before the accident. With this being my first read with a quadriplegic, or really my first experience in general with one, I did not know what to expect, but it wasn't what I got. From where Will started off, to where he ended up, I understood why he didn't have the motivation anymore. To live a life of travel, adventure, and excitement then suddenly not being able to do those or really anything anymore, it was be devastating. If I were put in a similar situation, I would hope that my parents would respect my wishes. To be completely honest, I did not find anything romantic in the novel at all, it was all so bland for me. We were given a bland relationship between Louisa and her first boyfriend, then we were given the relationship that was Will and Louisa. But really, in same ways that could be only considered one sided because of the way Will treated it. Then there was the way Louisa viewed it, just because you made someone fall in life with you, that doesn't mean you're going to change their perspective of their life. Where the novel was bland, the movie trailer depicts that the film will probably be taking a different route when it comes to the story, which will probably be for the best. I'll definitely be seeing it in the near future, reading the novel's sequel on the other hand, that won't be happening.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Loved it! I read a lot of different types of books, and this one kept me captured. Jojo Moyes makes you fall in love with all her characters. It was definitely hard to put down. I've read many books in my lifetimes and some as sad as Fault in Our Stars and I identified them as heartbreaking but it never brought me to tears. I have never cried reading books... but this book... I was fighting hard not to. It's fortunately not the whole book that's a tear jerker but it's definitely worth a read! Love it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best book I've read in a long time!!! This book definitely will hold a special place in my heart from now on. I'm generally a slow reader but I read this fairly large book in 3 days! Could not put it down! I don't think I have ever been so invested in book characters in all my life. The author writes with great flow as well. This book will make you cry however! You will cry A LOT. However, it will also make you ponder your own life. Read it people!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What A Loaded Book ... WOW Wow ... Heading into this book I was aware that it was a tearjerker; but I somehow envisioned a lighter read than this. Not to say that I was disappointed; I was completely enthralled with this novel and its characters. I felt that the author put a great amount of time and research into crafting a topical plot whilst portraying the characters and situations as accurately and fairly as possible. Moyes has really made me think about the quality of life and living to ones' potential. Additionally, through the plot Moyes has established a good argument for and against Dignitas and assisted suicide. Ultimately, "Me Before You" was an insightful and entertaining read. That being said, I did take exception to Louisa’s family. I found them to be unduly cruel to their oldest daughter; who by the way was the main breadwinner for the family. To put it simply ... I binge read "Me Before You" in just over a day. I just couldn't seem to put it down. All in all, It is fair to say that this book is one that will be sticking with me for some time. Next up I shall have to obtain a copy of the follow up, "After You."

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Brilliant! It's A Must Read! I wish I've read this book earlier because this book made me feel happy and heartbroken throughout the entire book. Jojo Moyes you got me to love your characters and even cry at few times, which is hard to do. Once I picked up Me Before You, I could not put it down! Started reading it at 6pm and stayed up until 3am to finished over half of it and then finished it around 5pm the next day! I didn't expect what exactly would happen but once those tears came I cried until the end of the book. Lou our main character is living a simple life, working at a local coffee shop, lives at home with her parents in a small house. Then the coffee shop ends up closing leaving her jobless. She then finds a job as a caregiver to a paraplegic who has no function except his arm and his face. Will. What has started off as a horrible job for her turns into a love where life and death comes to the forefront. I really loved Lous as a character because she is different and can bring a smile to anyone she meets. I did not like her boyfriend Patrick, he cared too much about himself and not about his relationship with Lou. Now on to Will. *breath* I adored him. He was funny and when Lou came into his life it brighten him in ways that many would not understand. They formed a special bond then eventually bloomed slowly into romance. It felt real. There is not that insta-love that normally happens in books, and Jojo Moyes did an amazing job with his character and you can see how he did want to be strong for his parents and even for Lou (currently crying while writing this review). I even loved all the secondary characters! Me Before You is definitely one of my favorite books and has given me a new perspective to live life to the fullest because you may never know what will happen the next day. It definitely ripped my heart into little pieces near the end but it was worth it. If you haven't picked up Me Before You, go get it immediately, you will not regret it as it is one unforgettable read. It will one book that will forever be on your mind! Very excited to see the movie as well in June!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Ugh This was drivel of the worst kind. Every cheeseball cliche the author could throw in, was. Super predictable fluff. If you want an easy, bland read that won't challenge you in any way, go for it, but PLEASE do not go into this thinking that this is the next great read. Honestly, not even a good one. I'm giving two stars instead of one only because there weren't any obvious spelling/grammar mistakes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from SO Good I bought this book because I saw it on a bunch of book lists. And I'm a sucker for a love story. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Loveeeeeee Lou lives her life in the most simple way, working at a coffee shop, living at home with her parents, grandpa, older sister and nephew presents a challenge in their small home, but she's learned to make it work. When the coffee shop and works at ends up closing, she's stuck with being unemployed and finding a suitable job. That job is a caregiver to a paraplegic Will who loses function in almost all parts of his body except his arm and face. What starts off as an innocent job turns into one of love where life and death are literally at ends. I didn't know what to expect with this, all I knew was that it might be a sad book. Though I didn't cry, I did tear because most of all you were gunning for something other that brutal ending. I can understand why it was done but gosh, my heart is still broken :( I loved the characters. Here are all these wonderful flawed characters who are simply broken and finding each other just makes them better. I loved this romance. It's unlike any I've read because there's no instant love at all, just instant dislike. That for me presents more of a challenging romance and I always love how the Moyes weaves in problems at every turn. I liked Lou and her ability to be sunny and bright while Will is a true pessimist. Not like you can blame him for all the pain that he's in. I pretty much disliked Patrick so that would be interesting to see how Matthew Lewis would play him. Here's a book that will pull at your heart and then rip it to pieces at the end. People warned me so I was ready but still.. I wasn't ready for the onslaught of emotions..Jojo Moyes has the ability to make you care about her characters that they become so real and memorable. Loved this one..I'm still broken by that ending.. Why oh why do adult books need to be so realistic.. *sighs* Me Before You will have readers crying for more closure even if it's something we all knew at the get-go. This is one sad depressing read but it's so full of heart that you need to pick it up and see for yourself.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not your average love story I wanted to read the book before the movie comes out and I did not regret it. YOU NEED TO READ THAT BOOK. Its funny, its sad and heartwarming.. I loved it much more than I thought I would and already miss the characters. I can't wait for the sequel.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Read it on a dare...and loved it Ok, here's the deal with this book that I only read because I was challenged to "be less of a snob," as some people would put it. When chick-lit looking books start dealing with weighty ethical issues; AND have characters I already miss; AND cause some heartbreaking catches of your breath; AND force you, force you to stay up way past your bedtime reading and arrive at work physically and emotionally exhausted, AND end up being an excellent story all at the same time...then it's certainly worth many stars. And a sheepish admission that other people were right about it. Now excuse me while I go recuperate with some dusty Latin tome.
Date published: 2015-08-09
Rated 4 out of 5 by from More to You "Me Before You" is chick lit, yet it isn't and has tremendous depth to it; it was predictable, but it wasn't and only followed a reasonable chain of events; it was clichéd, although who are we kidding, assisted suicide, or appreciably the term 'dying with dignity', in a chick lit story is hardly a cliché. So everything you might think of "Me Before You" won't hold up – it's a thinking person's contemporary love story that, well, guarantees a few tears at least. Like all romantic tales, the story of Louisa and Will could have gone in only two directions: a happily-ever-after, or, not. Somehow, Jojo Moyes has managed to blend both to give a bittersweet narrative, one that I'm not sure I like yet know is the only logical way to put a full stop at the end of this arc. As with the next arc in this story, I'm unsure too of what to make of the upcoming sequel, After You, yet I know it's a necessary piece to fill in.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No spoliers. It is just simply a fascinating book that has realistic components that makes you understand their world better. It is very easy to read. Stayed up late for 2 nights trying to get what is next. It is definitely a 'reread' type of book.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from You'll Fall in Love I cried. It's a interesting story, that starts off vaguely like Beauty and the Beast to me. Young girl forced to work in a castle to help out a beastly (personality, not in looks) young man. It developed beyond that, and gravitated towards Lou's quirkiness and her own inner demons. This story took me by surprise, I thought I had the story pegged. You will thoroughly enjoy this book, but be prepared for some tears!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not your average chick-lit This is the first book I read by Jojo Moyes, but it won't be last! It was beautiful, and brought me to tears (which NEVER happens). We chose it for our book club because it's an easy read, but offers much to debate/discuss. Highly recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A favourite Love this story! The characters are so interesting and fun and ordinary but the journey is not ordinary. I laughed, cried, cheered, and was unable to set it down. Rated 4 out of 5 by from Makes you think and feel I loved the different perspectives in this book. The characters were quirky and real. I've thought about this book for months after I read it, the author was able to transport me into a different perspective that I had never thought about before and has changed the way I see people in their varying situations. This is one of the books I always recommend to others. It feels like the emotions and everything that's going on in this book are an example of what is happening to people in little tiny clusters all over the world. Me Before You gives different perspectives on how we each deal with pain, and disappointments, and love. It also brings up questions of our family; how we relate to our brothers and sisters and parents and shows how perspective can determine how we treat other people. Also I took away the thought that if we do make assumptions about people we are not necessarily actually seeing reality. I felt like this book caught me by surprise, I wasn't expecting it to have such an impact on my thinking Be careful though you could get hooked on Jojo...
