Rated 5 out of 5 by from AMAZING I loved this book, i found i connected with it so much. It opened my heart and mind to think of things in ways i never thought of them before.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Grab a copy ASAP! I heard so much about this book before reading it but I never expected it to be so good! It brings out so many different emotions all at once. Definitely buy this book!
Date published: 2018-02-15
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Worth every penny. Definitely worth it. I was hesitant in spending the money as I am not into poetry. But this makes you think. I connected with her words.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from OMG!! I never thought it was going to be this graphic. The poems are real, full of emotion and may even open up a few wounds you rather have left closed. Its a very raw book but I did like it. One of those higher in the bookshelf books. #plumreview

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Every woman should have a copy! The cover is what initially caught my attention, I spent a few minutes going through the pages of the book and had to buy it. Im sure any woman can read this, and relate to some of the poetry; from heartache, pain and suffering to healing and finding love again. This book stays by my bedside and I go back to it over and over. For those of you who are unsure about the content, borrow it from a girlfriend or pop into an Indigo location, find a spot and see if you'll love it like I did!

I have read this book about three times since Christmas and I know that its not all that impressive but I have taken my time and reflected on each passage in the book! I strongly recommend that you read each passage and reflect on it because it brings everything inito perspective!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful, Thought-provoking poems I really loved this collection of poems. I thought they were beautiful and thought-provoking, I often put down the pages to reflect on the poem I just read. Really loved it!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not what I expected I bought the book because it was so hyped and I personally enjoy spoken word. It wasn't what I was expecting at all. A bit too expressive for my liking.
Date published: 2018-02-05
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Like the Title says, it really is Milk and Honey I've heard about this book for a while but I never brought myself to actually buy it. A friend lent it to me and I was overblown by the power in this woman's words. I am completely sold, I love what she writes about and as a woman of colour seeing another woman of colour being a successful writer, I am so happy to enjoy and support her work. Highly recommend, the book touches the soul.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love this The poems are great, so much power and emotion in just a few lines
Date published: 2018-02-04
Rated 4 out of 5 by from a great poetic book Bought it because I've been wanting to have a copy of this. Then by the time I flipped the very first page, I couldn't even put it down. It was too late for me to notice that i actually finished the whole book within a short amount of time since other parts are too short. I even marked the pages that I mostly liked and definitely touched me! 4 stars because some parts are kinda unclear to me. But yeah, it is still one of the great poetic book i've ever read.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Meh I have nothing against the messages the book gives--I fully support it. However, I'm not sure how this is poetry. Maybe I just don't get it, or maybe poetry is not about rhyme schemes or stanzas or haiku structures... Whatever it is i certainly don't think it qualifies as poetry no i do not

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Definitely Recommend Love love love this book. I had heard about her poems and saw them floating around the internet so sat down and read the book...in one sitting. I have since read it again. The imagery created through her writing is incredible, I laughed and cried.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Could not put it down! After seeing many of Rupi Kaur's poems floating on the internet, I had to see what the fuss was about. I could not put this book down! The imagery her words create is incredible! Definitely would recommend to anyone!
Date published: 2018-02-02
Rated 4 out of 5 by from I loved this book! The book is very easy to read, yet the words themselves deliver a strong message.
Date published: 2018-01-31
Rated 3 out of 5 by from way to over hyped this books was nice but I wouldn't say it's amazing. There was just to much hype around it
Date published: 2018-01-31
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Meh Some poems are really strong and make you feel some type of way, but others are just a sentence broken up into parts...kind of a waste of space
Date published: 2018-01-30
Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love rupi kaur Her poems are very easy to read, but still contain substance
Date published: 2018-01-29
Rated 3 out of 5 by from I'd recommend the Audio I strongly believe reading this along with the audio made me enjoy it more than I otherwise would have. There's something about the performance that drew me in more than the words themselves. That said, I didn't have any particularly strong feelings towards this collection either way. There were a few poems I loved, but on the whole, I don't feel particularly moved by the collection.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One of the Best Purchases I've Ever Made This is the most relatable book I have ever read. When I first got it I flipped to a random page (140-141), and had tears rolling down my cheeks while reading it aloud to my mom. I'm a 19 year old girl who has gone through SO much pain and though this book makes me cry from me relating to it so much, it has now become my favourite book to read and has inspired me to start writing poetry again. I love it so much that I bought the hardcover copy after purchasing the paperback. If you're a girl who has gone through so much pain in your life, this is definitely a book you need to buy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Loved this! I could definitely relate to the poems written in this book. Was a pleasure to read!
Date published: 2018-01-29
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Commendable topics, bland style I found the topics that Kaur writes about in her poetry, as well as the reflection on personal struggles, to be commendable. However, the poetry didn't flow as well as I would have liked and the style was too bland for my taste.
Date published: 2018-01-28
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Dissapointed While it is a quick and easy read, I gained nothing from it. Overhyped, might be something for teens.
Date published: 2018-01-27
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very good #plumreview A very good book, but content between poems is not very different.
Date published: 2018-01-27

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I don't see the overhype... I have a tremendous amount of respect for all authors, especially my fellow Canadian writers. However I don't see the over hype for this book or any of the other book . I became interested in this book through the power of social media, when I see people posting pictures and quotes on their timeline about how relatable some of the stuff that's being said in the book is. I shortly afterwards discovered the author and was so excited to purchase this book and all of the other ones she has written. I was more than disappointed once the books arrived and I skimmed through and saw what was on there. This is given 4 stars because someone did work hard on this book and it's not their fault that society has over-hyped this book for disappointment.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from easy read The book was ok and has an easy flow to it. finished it within a day. my only complaint is that some of the wording was either cut off from the edges or by the binding which made it difficult to read the full poem having to guess some of the words.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What a powerful book! This whole book talks about some pretty big topics but I think the author did it in a really good way. The poems were quick and easy to read while also being full of heavy material. It was interesting to read such a short book while also feeling like it was really long. I'm looking forward to reading her other work!
Date published: 2018-01-14
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not too bad of a read This book was just ok. Not what I expected. The second book by this author is much better. But others may like this book a lot more than I did.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from SO TOUCHING :') "love will come and when love comes love will hold you love will call your name and you will melt sometimes though love will hurt you but love will never mean to love will play no games cause love knows life has been hard enough already" *this was my favourite poem* This was my first poetry book, so I read it twice. It was an inspirational and so touching book :') I guess everyone struggles with something in their life, but as Rupi Kaur said "there is sweetness everywhere if you are just willing to look"

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not what I was expecting - but still great I follow Rupi Kaur on Instagram, and I regularly saw posts of pages in this book, as well as ones shared by others. I wasn't expecting some of these poems in the book to be so vulgar and graphic, but I still loved the book. I wouldn't suggest this for anyone under 16, to be honest. Still beautifully written.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Heartbreakingly beautiful I had originally borrowed the audiobook from my local library and loved it so much, I had to own the physical book. I re-read it again as soon as the order arrived. There are so many poems in this book that I personally related to and connected with. Rupi's poetry is brutally honest and haunting.

Date published: 2018-01-01
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Very Good Book This was a thoroughly enjoyable book. Her poetry definitely resonates with many people and some of it also did with me. So much of what she's illustrated here are things that I've went through and understand--much more than I ever wanted to honestly. So though this collection may not be for everyone, it is an incredibly good collection. And her second book is just as good. She has such a strong, clear voice. Some of the poems are incredibly poignant and despite the length of them (many are on the shorter side of things) they create these visceral images.
Date published: 2018-01-01
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Re-Readable One of the few books I can read over and over again, since it is so short, captivating, and relatable. If you are a woman, immigrant/child of immigrants, PoC, heartbroken/healing, this book will mean a lot to you. Lines from this book still resonate with me over a year after I read this.
Date published: 2017-12-31
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Disappointed I feel like this book was very hyped up and when I finally read it, I was disappointed. There was a section that I enjoyed but when I was done with the book, I felt deflated. The person I borrowed it from felt disappointed as well. I would probably recommend it because everyone relates to different things, but I would caution that it may not be as earth shattering as some think. As far as Rupi Kaur's other book goes, so far I am enjoying it much more.

This book moved me, made me cry, made me wish I could have saved Rupi from her past. This is without a doubt my favorite poetry book. It's so real and I love it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good connections I feel as though poetry should speak to people and this somewhat spoke to me but it may appeal more to others based on their situations.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Loved it This book inclusively touches on various aspects of emotional being. It speaks to you through whatever troubles you are going through, and acts as a comfort knowing that someone else is also going through, or has went through, that same hardship or feeling. Great poetry.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Expected More Was not as blown away by this collection as I thought I would be, perhaps because it's been built up so much all around me. Definitely some bits that resonated with me and some beautiful and powerful words but I found the bulk of it to be quite ordinary. 4 stars cause I did dig a lot of the art.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from You will NOT be let down *trigger warning* This book was worth all the hype it was recognized for and more. Yes, it focuses on raw and real issues women and men go through everyday, behind closed doors. The reason I loved this piece of work is because it was nothing lke i had ever read before. It was REAL, and I could feel every word of it. Everyone should give t his a try, and if not for yourself, for the relation of all the other struggling, growing individuals that go through this every year.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Did not live up to the hype. For all the love this compilation is getting, it does not live up to the hype. There are better poets, with more complex language, and more depth to their messages. While the accompanying drawings are charming and gorgeous, they do not save the poetry. Common thoughts written down are not groundbreaking- they're just relate-able. And if you're looking for something to relate to, this is your book. But if you're looking for something to change the way you think about yourself and others, something more universal, I suggest The Madness Vase by Andrea Gibson

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poetry? These are literally instagram captions. It's clear the author was TRYING to be deep but ended up making tumblr girls shed a couple tears. Not poetry.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Aesthetically very nice; OK poems So much of it was on Instagram that by the time I got to the actual book, I had already read so many of the poems and the power of words were a little lost. I think it's a beautiful book, but I didn't particularly feel a groundbreaking shift in worldview that most people who had read the book reviewed. I think Rupi Kaur is a very interesting and intelligent human, this book is OK.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great read! Milk and Honey by Rupi Kaur was written in four parts: The Hurting, The Loving, The Breaking and The Healing. High school students requested this book for reading and since I catalogued it, the book was signed out several times, and continues to be on hold for other pupils in our school. I would recommend this section to anyone going through a tough time

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good debut. At times, I loved Kaur's poetry for its simplicity, and then at other times I was put off by it. I'm curious to compare this first collection to The Sun and her Flowers.

Rupi Kaur’s writing echoes of artistry and wisdom which is seen in the work of those that have been writing for years. (Samira Sawlani, Media Diversified)
