Not your average poetry book. Some really stand out Poems. Overall this poetry book has a very clear aesthetic making it easy to read. While some Poems are true standouts, I would argue that this book is a Little overrated.

A story that needed to be told
I was never much a reader of poetry until I heard about Rupi Kaur and came across her short pieces on social media. I decided to purchase this and was in love immediately. It was refreshing to see these stories being told and in such an accessible way. Not to mention, this book is absolutely beautiful. The cloth bound version is just so pretty!

Milk and honey for your soul
This book was a delightful read. I love reading poems, and Rupi Kaur executes them well.
She'll strike you with short and concise passages, or instill detailed imagery in your head with her longer pieces.
All in all, this was a very enjoyable read and I recommend it. Truly milk and honey for your soul!

Great book for young women
I received this as a gift from a friend. Beautiful poetry about being a woman and all the complications and emotions that go along with that. I recommend to anyone going through a difficult time or to those learning to be on their own. The illustrations in addition are very poignant. It is something you will always remember and go back to. When reading Milk and Honey I felt like I wasn't alone and that there are others out there who feel the same way I do.

Great, but..
I truly did enjoy this book of poetry, it was well written and thought provoking. However, there were was something lacking, in my opinion. I feel that focused too much on the personal, rather than its relationship to the world. That doesn't mean the book isn't great, because it is. I hope her newest book does what this one doesn't. Still lovely nonetheless.

AMAZING!
I got this book after seeing everyone talking about it on Instagram. After researching a little bit, found out the author was from Toronto. It urged me to buy the book to check it out for myself. And I am so glad I did. It was amazing, I read it in like half an hour. I know they are just a collection of poems but somehow Rupi ties them all together that when you finish reading all the poems, it feels as if you've finished reading a novel. I absolutely adored them all as I could relate to them all. But it is definitely worth reading and you will not regret it! I promise!

Poetry Lives On
This is not the canonical literature pored over by most undergrads, but that is what is so important about it. Female authors of colour are so often ignored, and I'm so glad that this is getting so much attention and praise. The work is accessible and simple, while being stunning, and powerful. Kaur's poetry is evocative and beautiful and resonated deeply for me.

Not exemplary, but not bad
I don't mind poems like these, but I find them far less eloquent than some of the more classic works of prose. Frankly I don't find them as touching or well-phrased as I expected from a book this popular.

Although Rupi Kaurs writing style isn't for everyone, I really enjoyed the illustrations and layout of each page. I bought this novel in hopes of finding some sort of relief from my anxiety, and I'm happy to say I found comfort in the words she wrote. I'd recommend this novel for anyone dealing with any type of mental illness or inner turmoil as it can be extremely healing.

Mixed feelings about this book
I'm not sure how I feel about this book. I do agree with a lot of other reviews here that most of the "poems" just look like some Tumblr style quotes with random enters in the middle of the sentence. I was let down
I had high expectation for this book, as it has one of my favourite pieces in it
i want to apologize to all the women
i have called pretty.
before i’ve called them intelligent or brave.
i am sorry i made it sound as though
something as simple as what you’re born with
is the most you have to be proud of
when your spirit has crushed mountains
from now on i will say things like, you are resilient
or, you are extraordinary.
not because i don’t think you’re pretty.
but because you are so much more than that"
I was unimpressed my reoccurring themes, and although I do use Tumblr, I found the overuse of "Cliche" topics and heartbreak common and...not innovative. I will give her upcoming book a try, but I do not currently hold high expectations for it.

I read a few of her poems on instagram and Tumblr. There's an open dispute going on with her copying Nayyirah Waheed's works. Kaur copied Waheed's style and themes from Waheed's book "Salt" which was released a year earlier than "Milk and Honey". I would not support Kaur given the situation.

loved it!
So at first I saw this book going wild everywhere(online etc.), and saw quotes and I know I don't relate to the things in the book, but I do relate from stories of others and the way my mind thinks( sounds weird but i promise its not lol) and then I was in english class ( young, yes. anyway moving on..) and I had finished my work and asked the teacher if I could read a book from her poetry cabinet and she asked what I'm like. I told her not sure, modern? and she said I would most likely enjoy this book, and she was right, I bought it the next week to finish it. And even got more people I know, to love it. I don't think I've come across a reader(or/and poetry) who doesn't like this book in anyway. :) Thank you, rupi kaur! <3

Beautifully done!
A friend of mine showed me Rupi Kaur's Instagram, which shows you a glimpse of the book itself. Everything about this book is so tasteful, and this book that is a very thoughtful gift for a female friend. Soul baring, and deep.

Underwhelming
I have to be honest, I was underwhelmed by this one. I've been really wanting to read more modern poetry, because in collections I've read (such as Chasers of the Light by Tyler Knott Gregson) there were lines that have made my heart sing. I want to find more beautiful poetry that will strike me with its mastery of language and warm my heart. Despite the hype, Milk and Honey fell short of the mark for me. I think there were four poems that stood out to me, but not in any profound way.
This poetry collection was divided into a few different parts and in her poems Kaur discusses topics like abuse, rape, falling in love, and having a relationship fall apart. Although these issues are very touching, I found that she didn't really do anything different with them. I feel I would have been more impressed if she used more interesting language or thought of unique metaphors. I don't want to sound like a poetry snob (especially because I have read very little poetry), but for a lot of the poems, I felt she was simply writing prose and hitting the "Enter" key a lot.
That being said, I did find three or four of the poems that I thought were particularly striking. But only three or four out of the whole book doesn't seem like a success to me. Even though I wasn't a fan, I know that so many people are. You may want to give this one a try, especially if you can relate more to the issues she has dealt with. Personally, I think this one is a bit overhyped! Hopefully, I will be a little more successful on my next poetry adventure.

Not excellent but really good!
This was my first poetry book, I most say that I really enjoyed it, beautiful words. You can feel the pain in the verses. The book is structured in different stages and the illustrations are really cool.

Despite finding so many quotes that resonated with me, I couldn't connect with the work as a whole, which is why I rated it three stars.
Milk and Honey is an interesting collection of poems about hurt, healing, and feminism. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to connect to the message as fully as I'd wanted to.
Rapu Kaur is a beautiful writer. Her verse is so poetically beautiful I found myself highlighting many sections that spoke to me. Some were powerful:
"Bloom beautifully
Dangerously
Loudly
Bloom softly
However you need just bloom"
Some reminded me of my own relationship:
"Nothing is safer than the sound of you reading out loud to me"
And some were empowering:
"When you are broken and he has left you do not question whether you were enough the power was you were so enough he was not able to carry it"
Despite finding so many quotes that resonated with me, I couldn't connect with the work as a whole, which is why I rated it three stars. I bought my copy for my Kobo and I had issue after issue. The file would constantly freeze and the poems were broken up where they shouldn't have been. This may have contributed to my inability to connect. If I find a cheap physical copy, I'll reread it and probably change my review.
