Rated 5 out of 5 by from Loved this book!! *TRIGGER WARNING* DOES INVOLVE RAPE I personally loved this book! The story line was amazing, the way Nora Roberts has written the story gave me chills and every time a paranormal event occurred actually made me scared to continue reading. BUT in the beginning of the book there is a rape part, so if you are triggered by this please DO NOT read it. Overall, this book is amazing and I wasn't able to put it down. Would defiantly read again!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great story & Great location - New Orleans my obsession! I loved this story! Vengeful ghosts from the past, two very independant, slightly dented people in the present, a decrepit antebellum mansion, and other assorted complications all add up to a book I couldn't put down! This book had a setting - New Orleans - that is irresistible to me and will always draw me in. I'm unapologetically obsessed with New Orleans, and love everything about it - the people, the lifestyle, the drama - absolutely everything about it! Nora Roberts must have spent some time there, because she captures the charm, style and wonderful uniqueness of this wonderful city in every aspect of this book. The city really is almost an additional character in the story, and that just made the book even more wonderful for me to experience. Although this is technically a romance novel, that aspect did not not come across as the main focus for me at all. There are the requisite love scenes between the main characters that appear in most of Roberts' books, but they are not overly explicit and they are not that frequent - more of a sprinkling as part of the story, not the main story. Nora Roberts is a wonderful writer, and her books are always multi-faceted, with strong, realistic likeable characters and multiple facets to the the plot-lines. This was a well-rounded story with lots going on and plenty to keep your interest. This is a fast and easy read, and I really enjoyed it. If you enjoy paranormal fiction with some romance in it, you may like this one.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from very disapointing This story had a lot of promise but somewhere in the last quarter of the book it took a sharp wrong turn. If you read a lot of Nora Roberts you know that usually she has an interesting twist at the end, however this time this was a very convoluted twist. That twist made it impossible for me to relate to the characters anymore and made the book really the worst I have ever read from her collection. I highly recommend skipping it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The One That Got Me Hooked This is the first book I ever read by Nora Roberts and it's the one that made me keep buying them. It was several years ago now and I continue buying anything with her name on it. There are others that I like better than this one, but because it was the first, it will always be one of my favourites. "Midnight Bayou" is great, fun read. You'll be afraid to turn off your lights at night, though.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing This is Roberts at her best. Scared me to where I didn't want to turn the lights out. Great story, greater sex, just amazing. A must for any fan and a must for first timers.
