about

Now a major motion picture, written and directed by Aaron Sorkin and starring Jessica Chastain, Idris Elba, Kevin Costner, and Michael Cera—the true story of "Hollywood’s poker princess" who gambled everything, won big, then lost it all.

When Molly Bloom was a little girl in a small Colorado town, she dreamed of a life without rules and limits, a life where she didn’t have to measure up to anyone or anything—where she could become whatever she wanted.

She ultimately got more than she could have ever bargained for.

In Molly’s Game, she takes you through her adventures running an exclusive high-stakes private poker game catering to such clients as Hollywood royalty like Leonardo DiCaprio and Ben Affleck, athletes, billionaires, politicians, and financial titans. With rich detail, Molly describes a world of glamour, privilege, and secrecy in which she made millions, lived the high life, and fearlessly took on the Russian and Italian mobs—until she met the one adversary she could not outsmart: the United States government.

It’s the story of how a determined woman gained—and then lost—her place at the table, and of everything she learned about poker, love, and life in the process.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from You go girl!! This is a great book, even if you saw the movie you should read this book because the book and the movie are different and have different details. It's a very easy read and extremely entertaining. I don't think this is the last we will hear from Molly Bloom! Tobey McGuire should hide his face in shame, what a greedy, seedy, sorry excuse for a person he turned out to be, I hope that through the book and movie he sees himself for the horrible person he is and turns his life around.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A fast paced and electric read! I had seen a few TV interviews and I loved the movie; not my usual order before reading a book. Well written and captivating. I highly recommend it. It’s refreshing to have such a well rounded strong female to read about.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Surprised Like! A friend of mine bought me this book for my birthday. I was a little hesitant at first because I had seen the movie and it wasn't amazing. She assured me the book was 10X better. Low and behold....Loved it!! A must read!! Doesn't even compare to the movie.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Loved this I enjoyed this book. I watched the movie first which I normally don't do because it ruins the book. However it was well written and kept me hooked through to the end.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A DELICIOUS Read Things I've Learned As A Reader: Sometimes the book IS as good as the movie. I vaguely remember this story when it was in the headlines, but the movie trailer caught my eye, and I actually really loved the film. Which of course, meant I needed to backtrack and read the book. Which - HELL YES - I'm glad I did. First, major kudos to Aaron Sorkin for staying true to the source material and making an awesome movie. I almost NEVER like a movie based off of a book, but this is a rare occasion where I not only loved both, but they ended up being the perfect compliment to each other. Second, Molly Bloom has done an amazing job with writing her story - it feels like having the most delicious gossip session with your best girlfriend. Which brings me to a double recommendation for you today - if you want to see a great movie, check this one out. And if you want an absolutely delicious memoir read, that gives you all the salacious details and names (some of) the big, juicy names, THIS is your book. This deserves 5 HOT stars - grab a glass of wine and jump on this rollercoaster ride.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Just OK It was a quick, interesting and easy read. I found she went into a lot of detail about her time in LA but when it came to her time in NYC (which is how trouble seemed to find her) she glossed over it and never fully explained how exactly she came to be charged. I feel like she left out a lot of important details in this book. I enjoyed the story but didn't feel like I got a good handle on exactly what led to her downfall.
