about

Welcome to the astounding world of Mortal Engines, soon to be a major motion picture!

London is hunting again. Emerging from its hiding place in the hills, the great Traction City is chasing a terrified little town across the wastelands. Soon, London will feed.

In the attack, Tom Natsworthy is flung from the speeding city with a murderous scar-faced girl. They must run for their lives through the wreckage--and face a terrifying new weapon that threatens the future of the world.

Beloved storyteller Philip Reeve creates a brilliant new world in the Mortal Engines series, called "phenomenal...violent and romantic, action-packed and contemplative, funny and frightening" by The Sunday Times.

The major motion picture based on the book will be coming from MRC and Universal in 2018.

Philip Reeve is the bestselling author of the Mortal Engines quartet, the highly acclaimed Here Lies Arthur, No Such Thing as Dragons, Fever Crumb, and A Web of Air. He lives in Dartmoor, England, with his wife and son. Visit him online at www.philip-reeve.com.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Original, thoughtful and well written I saw the movie trailer for this book and since most books end up being much better than their film counterparts, I decided to pick it up. And I was not disappointed! Philip paints a well rounded, and original viewpoint of the future of the world, one in which provides a warning of consumption. Hester’s character is well developed and real. I wish her character in the movie matched her more closely. 100% would recommend!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I am wavering I can't decide if this book is 3.5 or 4 stars. I liked this book, I am not a frequent reader of the adventure genre but I wanted to read this book and I did like. Though I did think there was a lot going on but I think that is what an adventure book is. I did liked how the book jumped to different people and places and not only focus of the main characters, we got to see points of view from other characters. Overall not a bad book.
