With enchanting language and images, this literary mini collection explores what it’s like to be a young girl, with all of its challenges and triumphs. Grappling with loss, growing up, and new-found sexuality, each female voice evocatively narrates her story as images of a family Christmas dinner, a bleak snow-covered graveyard, a sexy, unreachable mother, and even a magic show come to life. Through moments of heartbreak and beauty, each character reveals her strength and finds her own truth.

Jan M. Leotti has published short stories in Peregrine, Primavera, and Vine Leaves Literary Journal. She wrote a ghost story called “The Headless Bartender” and her first novel titled CLOSE TO DARK. She rescued two cats, placed twenty-two orchids on her sunny front porch, and married an award-winning landscape painter named Paul Bachem. Jan lives with Paul in a sky-blue cottage in New York, where she eats enchanted mulberries every summer.
