Formerly titled: Dog Days of Summer

Iraq veteran and motorcycle shop owner Jeremiah “Dog” Sheppard is looking forward to the annual Veterans Ride benefit for local vets, but this year he might be rewarded with more than the usual satisfaction of doing a good deed. When he asks the stunning single mother of one of his employees to help with the charity event, he finds himself facing a greater challenge than expected.

Joci James is happy to use her graphic design and marketing savvy to help a good cause but charity might not be her only motivator. She cannot deny a mutual attraction but her bruised heart is closed for business, even to her son’s good-looking boss. Fortunately, the tenacious Jeremiah never gives up without a fight.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very hot romance with mature characters Jeremiah (Dog) Sheppard built his motorcycle shop, Rolling Thunder Motorcycles while raising his twin sons alone. His sons now work for him and life is good for all of them. Dog is a veteran so he wants to help other veterans which he does with an annual Veterans Ride. Joci also raised her grown son, Gunnar, alone. Gunnar works at Rolling Thunder Motorcycles. Since Joci has a graphic design business, she agrees to help organize the annual ride. She was immediately attracted to Jeremiah but after being cheated on by two men, she doesn't want a relationship so keeps turning him down when he asks her out. Dog is not taking no for an answer so keeps pursuing Joci. I really liked that this wasn't a typical motorcycle romance. There was a lot of hot sex but no motorcycle club. Everyone rode motorcycles and worked on them though. I liked the mature age of Josi (44) and Dog/Jeremiah (45) and that they had grown children. It was so well written that I could feel the love between this couple. It was easy to see that they had strong feelings for each other. Dog has a strong personality and is used to getting what he wants but he's also kind and thoughtful. While Josi is a smart, successful woman, her fear of relationships is extreme and tiresome. Their sons are terrific, especially Gunnar. He's very caring and protective of his mother. I love Dog's family. They all added a lot to the story. This is a wonderful romance that made me envious of the couple. If you like hot romances with mature characters, you'll like this book.
