Journey now to Fort Bliss in West Texas of 1874, where...
A Battle Is About to be Waged Between Two Hearts.
Fashion artist Priscilla Hutchens has a grudge against the army that has ruined her family and taken the people she holds most dear. When her twin niece and nephew are left orphaned at Fort Bliss, Texas, she swoops down on Fort Bliss to gain custody of them immediately.

There is just one thing standing in the way-Post surgeon Major Elliot Ryder, who is also the twins uncle, also claims the children and thinks he knows what is best for them.

Priscilla and Elliot will cross swords, but each will have to lay down arms if they are to find a lasting peace on which to form the family both are longing for.  Who will win the battle? Or will a truce be called for the sake of love and family?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Humour, Grit and Sweet Romance Vetsch delivers humour and grit along with sweet romance in her latest novel. I found the fort setting absolutely fascinating and this author does her research so there are tons of interesting details that bring the story to life. From the fort routines to the doctor's surgery; Indian relations to the plight of women in these lonely outposts -- all contributed to my frantic page-turning. Priscilla is a force to be reckoned with -- so determined to hate everything about the military. Her intention is to 'rescue' the children and bring them back to civilization but their equally determined uncle stands in her way. . There's no doubt that Elliott loves the twins even though he's giving them an unorthodox upbringing. But he's not about to renege on the promise he made to his dying sister and there's no way some fancy city lady is going to take away his niece and nephew. Their clash of wills is stupendously fun to read -- especially when the undercurrents of attraction threaten to break to the surface. Love the brilliant way the author knits their lives together until it's impossible to imagine either without the other. But goodness, does she ever make them work for that happily ever after! A stupendously thrilling story rich in history, steeped in faith and filled with love.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exceptional coverage of time period Monday, March 6, 2017 My Heart Belongs in Fort Bliss, Texas: Priscilla's Reveille by Erica Vetsch, © 2017 My Review: Join in this visit to a frontier fort in the Territory of West Texas in 1874. Priscilla Hutchens is on her way from her home in Cincinnati, Ohio, to the sun-drenched desert of vast open space. Traveling with a bride-to-be, she is just in time for the wedding celebration. The festivities liven up the arrival of an unpromised young woman with hopeful anticipation to be the fortunate soldier to win her hand. Priscilla believes she is going to retrieve her older brother's orphaned twins, unaware that his brother-in-law is very active and settled at Fort Bliss. Major Elliot Ryder is the post surgeon. He does not know the twins have another relative and is surprised by Priscilla's arrival and intent. Timothy and his sister, Tessa, enhance the story, especially with their love of riding their ponies, helping out at the civilian shops building on the fort property ~ the saddler, blacksmith, and bakery... Herbs and flowers used in the infirmary ~ especially the description of the Mexican Poppy plants poking through the cracked dirt. The author has brought to life the daily life in and around the fort. The story is very well-written and I enjoyed reading about this time. ***I received a complimentary copy of this book from Barbour Publishing and was under no obligation to post a review. Editorial Reviews

The first story in this new series is a charming inspirational with a tender romance. The main and secondary characters are well-developed and interesting, and the descriptions of the Fort Bliss military camp ring true. Readers will enjoy watching how the two main characters fall in love when they start off at such opposing odds. The story drives home how what we might think is best for ourselves isn't always what God thinks is best.
