Most of my family memories revolve around food, especially family holidays, and everyone knows how important food and wine are in Italian culture. Here are the recipes passed down from my nonnas (grandmothers) that reflect the warm, rustic flavors of Friuli, Italy: rich frico, risotto, and savory polenta. I also love the lighter bites, perfect with a glass of wine: crostini with ricotta and honey, or a tramezzini, the Italian version of English high-tea sandwiches. And I didn’t forget the sweets—from the tiramisu I made with my mother when I was eight years old to the famous basil panna cotta I made to help win me the title of MasterChef.
I love to teach, and I’ll show you the fundamentals of fantastic Italian food, including homemade stock (I swear, it’s easy), pasta from scratch, and more. My Italian Kitchen is packed with the food that I love and that you and your family will love too. (Plus I’ll tell you some good behind-the-scenes stories from Season 4 of MasterChef!)
Grazie! And welcome to my kitchen.
Luca Manfé is the Season 4 winner of MasterChef. Originally from Friuli, Italy, he currently lives in New York.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I love this cook book, it's one of my favorites Luca Manfe; Season 4 winner of Master Chef. Luca is an inspiration to so many people; chefs, and people who like to cook for fun, and people who just love to eat. When I saw Luca win Master Chef last season it was a breathtaking sight. I always knew he had it in him, but I never knew how his promised cook book would turn out, all I knew was that the food would be delicious and Italian. I bought my copy recently and I enjoyed looking at the beautiful pictures and the forewords by Gordon Ramsay and Joe Bastianich, two amazing people in the culinary world and former judges of Luca's talent on Master Chef. I haven't cooked anything yet, but everything sounds and looks delicious in the book and nothing is too fancy or sprinkled with about a hundred different spices and herbs. It's good comfort Italian food. I'm excited to taste everything in the book and experiment a little, because I know Luca has great talent and his recipes are just really good. I think people should really buy it because if you love food (especially Italian) and you are comfortable with cooking semi-simple meals, then you're ready to go with this book. Because, Luca Manfe knows his way around the kitchen and he really has an amazing palette as well.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Interesting Book This is a first for me to buy a TV cookbook ; but after watching this young man on the show I thought I'd give it a look . The book is true to his on stage personality , chatty , family recipes from his grandmother, but includes some of his winning .. read complicated.. recipe, and some fancy plating . . It is laid out like a traditional Italian book ' with an addition I've not seen before " Tramezze " , or Sandwiches (not panini , just sandwiches) . The ingredient lists can be quite long. I'm not sure I'd buy it again, but if you loved him on the show you will like this book .
