The romance novel that lets you pick your path, follow your heart, and find happily ever after

You are the plucky but penniless heroine in the center of eighteenth-century society, courtship season has begun, and your future is at hand. Will you flip forward fetchingly to find love with the bantering baronet Sir Benedict Granville? Or turn the page to true love with the hardworking, horse-loving highlander Captain Angus McTaggart? Or perhaps race through the chapters chasing a good (and arousing) man gone mad, bad, and scandalous to know, Lord Garraway Craven? Or read on recklessly and take to the continent as the “traveling companion” of the spirited and adventuresome Lady Evangeline? Or yet some other intriguing fate?

Unexpected and multiple intertwining storylines make this novel a daring delight to read again and again, with beguiling illustrations bringing all the lust and love to life.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My Lady's Choosing This book was such a fun read! I loved choosing the "adventure" and not knowing what was going to happen next.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolutely loved MY LADY'S CHOOSING! It's fun, fresh, & extremely entertaining! I went through MY LADY'S CHOOSING and tried out three different versions of the story, and I absolutely loved every single one! I've always been a fan of "Choose Your Own Adventure" stories, and I love, love, LOVE romance, so this was right up my alley! I loved that it didn't take itself seriously and that the authors had so much fun with the genre and with various tropes/stories that they were inspired by. It was a blast to read and you could tell they had a lot of fun putting it all together! Now I'll tell a bit about each of the versions that I tried out. :) The first time I chose Captain Angus "Mac" McTaggart: the rugged, philanthropic red-headed Scot...who also happens to share many similarities with a well beloved character some people know as Jamie Alexander Malcolm Mackenzie Fraser...or Jamie Fraser if you've never read Outlander. Mac was definitely similar to Jamie in some ways, but he was also still uniquely Mac! He was wonderful and constantly had me swooning, and the story was super sweet! It also had a bit of mystery going on which was a lot of fun! The second time I chose Sir Benedict Granville, the Mr. Darcy character of the bunch! He was a bit of a broody butthead when the story started, but I won him over with my....assets. We partook in some witty banter and hung out in some secluded alcoves. This version had some mystery, too, and quite a few of those alcoves/dark corners that I spoke of. I had a lot of fun with this one and I loved that this version of the story had a ball, card games, and witty banter...all the fixings of some of my favourite Austen novels! And the third and final time that I ran through MY LADY'S CHOOSING, I chose Lord Craven, who was the Mr. Rochester of the bunch. This one was definitely the most ridiculous and outlandish out of all of the storylines that I chose, but it was super amusing! I also loved the commentary on my choices from the authors...even though they did call me a hussy. :P This one also had some mystery, but it mostly just went full on gothic and it gave me serious Northanger Abbey, Jane Eyre, and Wuthering Heights vibes. I loved it! In addition to the three storylines that I tried out, there's also a storyline where you can choose to be a companion to your female friend in case anyone is looking to try out a same-sex relationship. The companion and Lord Craven storylines pop up during the Sir Benedict and Mac storylines, so if you're looking to play out either of them, make sure to keep your eyes peeled! :) Overall, I had a blast reading through the various storylines of MY LADY'S CHOOSING. I loved that each one pulled inspiration from classics and popular stories, but that they still managed to be unique so that you were still left with surprises. I really enjoyed all of the storylines, but I have to admit that Mac's was definitely my favourite! :D

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My Lady's OOZING! My Lady’s Choosing let’s you eat your cake and EAT YOUR CAKE. It’s euphemism mysticism, making foreplay and wordplay equally satisfying. My favourite line? “You feel the firmness of his body’s dictations.” Buy this laugh-out-loud, eye-widening romp that has someone-actually, many, MANY someones-for everyone. (Personally, I’ve gone Stark Craven Mad.) Get ready to put your greedy little fingers to work betwixt the folds of this HILARIOUS interactive adventure.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Most ridiculous fun I've had with a romance novel ever!!! Ok, I guess it's more comedy than romance... I think. My friend and I saw this book at a local Cole's and flipped through it while lollygagging at the store, right? Then I open the book somewhere in the middle and started reading out loud. We were gagging at how ridiculous the writing was and it was so funny how it's low-key a parody of those harlequin novels your mom hides in her dresser. It's great fun because you start out as this young impoverished lady's maid and then you get to choose whatever adventure you like. And you basically have 4 different lovers you end up with--one's a lesbian one (oooOOOOOooohhh!!!)-- depending on your as a lady's taste. You can even read all the different alternate timelines of your life (you own the damn book, might as well see where else you could end up!) and see what adventures your life could have had! Wanna hook up with some Mr. Darcy-like snob-but-is-actually-a-real-gentleman-who-challenges-your-mind type of charming chap? Or is your taste drooling for the very rogue-ishly handsome Scottish hottie with a super duper heart of gold? Or how about awakening the emo(?) side in you and get jiggy with a broodingly dark, mysterious, and sexy (not at all like Edward Cullen type of character haha whatt??? but if you're into that, yeah it's basically like that) sexyman? OOOORRR how about letting your heart, mind, and body be wooed to adventure with a lady socialite who's more than meets the eye? And oh honeyyyyyyy!!! Hoooonnneyyy!!!!! Will you have LOTS of fun. Passion-wise. I'm serious. This book is great.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Review on GR! Mini review: DNF GR Ultimate Summer Reading Challenge-Childhood Reboot. Part of this book was also reading during Jude the epic readers read-a-thon. I just wasn’t a fan of this. While I did find some parts humorous, the rest I found to be really awkward. And it sort of made me uncomfortable. Overall this wasn’t for me. I think you have to acquire a certain taste for these types of books. So I’ll leave it up to you.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great book! When I was a kid, lots of my classmates loved choose your own adventure stories. But I didn’t. I wanted a complete story to read, and I didn’t want anything to change from the original. However, I thought I would give this one a try since I love Victorian romances. And I loved it! There are three directions your story could go. You could choose the brooding Sir Benedict Granville, who is like Mr. Darcy from Pride and Prejudice. You could choose Captain Angus McTaggart, who is like Jamie from Outlander. Or you could choose to go on an adventure with the socialite Lady Evangeline. For my review, I followed the path with Angus MacTaggart, also known as Mac. The story was so entertaining! It had everything from a spy, a faked death, orphans, and a burned down mansion, all of which are aspects that make a great Victorian novel. I loved this story and I was satisfied with the ending. The great thing about this book is that you can read it over and over, following different paths, and end up with different endings. I will definitely be reading this book again! I received a copy of this book from the publisher on NetGalley.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great concept I liked the concept of the book, choosing your own path. However, the writing itself somewhat annoyed me while reading.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A fun read from the beginning From the very start this book was fun. The writing was fantastic and entertaining. Even when some parts got corny it was still hot and hilarious. I couldn't put it down, nor did I want to.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from FUN! FUN! FUN! Must read for fans of romance. This book is a very funny, tongue in cheek homage to romance and it's many sub-genres, with nods to Rebecca, Jane Eyre, Pride and Prejudice, Mysteries of Udolpho, Ode to a Grecian Urn, and so many others.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fun, Hilarious, Must-Try! I've never read an interactive story before so it was really refreshing to try to picture myself as the main character in a book. My Lady's Choosing is a hilarious love story with no shortage of swoons and eye rolls. The book starts off introducing you to yourself and a couple other leading figures. Maybe because of my love for historical settings I found I was able to comfortably settle myself into the role. The instructions were easy to follow and even humourous to read. I liked that you never know which path your choices could lead you. Until that find THE END everything was fair game. I’ve gone through a couple different scenarios and each one made me laugh. They were creative for sure but some were just plain ridiculous. It was impossible not to let lose a chuckle at some of word choices. The dramatic descriptions and witty dialogues were spot on. While some storylines may have been a tad far-fetched, others made sense and fitted well with the choices. The stories also weren't very long so I had some time to play through a couple different scenarios. There were times when I wasn't sure if I should be taking myself seriously. Especially in a situation where I'm suppose to "...wipe some of the dirt and blood from Benedict's firm pectorals, biting your lip at the sight of his deeply masculine chest." (p. 148). Isn't that just every lady's fantasy come true ;) All in all, My Lady's Choosing was a well-thought-out hoot of an interactive read. If you're a reader and fancy taking center stage for once pick this book up. You might just find yourself in the embrace of a strapping lad galloping atop his handsome steed towards a most dazzling sunrise~

Read from the Book

"Move that leg, girl!” the dowager Lady Craven hisses as she prods you with her cane. The two of you are sitting in the back of her rather shabby carriage on the way to your first social event since you started working as her lady’s companion more than a year ago. Sadly, this behavior is far from extraordinary, so you merely sigh and squeeze yourself into an even tinier part of the seat. At this point, one more prod and you would be making love to the carriage door.     “Such a miserable occasion. I can’t think why Evangeline is making us attend,” Lady Craven mutters.     “Well, it is for the widows and orphans of the war—” you venture to say politely, before being cut off with a glare that could strip paint.     “Did I sound like I wanted your opinion?” You know what’s good for you and stop talking immediately. Lady Craven continues on her tirade. “Truly, you are just as woolheaded as your grandfather was. Odious man! I have no idea what your grandmother was thinking when she married him—and with no fortune to recommend him, either! I daresay your late father was just the same, seeing as he didn’t see fit to provide for you after his death . . .”     Spending most of your time with Lady Craven has made you a master at biting your tongue, yet her cruel words about your beloved papa cut you to your core. Still, you depend upon the old dragon for your entire livelihood, so you have no choice but to grit your teeth and clench your fists into the worn fabric of your dress. An old castoff from Lady Craven, the frock is at least twenty years out of date, and you highly suspect that she chose it for you because the mustard-yellow color clashes horribly with your complexion.     “If it wasn’t for the affection I still hold for your late mother, I should have cast you out into the street! And what would you have done then, eh?”     You brood silently yet demurely.     “Probably try to find yourself a protector, no doubt!” she continues. “Just as you have shamelessly set your cap at Sir Charles Burley-Fanshaw. Though I doubt anyone would want to have anything to do with such a silly little chit!”     Your fists grip even tighter around the fabric of your skirts. The repellent Sir Charles is old enough to be your grandpapa and has indeed been sniffing around your person, looking no doubt for a pretty, compliant, and much younger bride. Still, would life in a loveless marriage be any worse than the one you live now?     The carriage arrives at your destination, and you are shaken from your gloomy thoughts—if only for a moment. Perhaps tonight will be the night when everything changes? Do you accompany your tyrannical employer to the fundraising ball for the Society for the Protection of Widows and Orphans of the War? The company may be atrocious, but balls are fun! If so, turn to page 67.Or do you run away from Lady Craven, only to find yourself with no other means of survival than to sell your young body into the cold, cruel night? If so, do not go to any other place in this book, for you will be utterly doomed and dead from syphilis within a year. Sorry. This may be a choosable-path adventure, but as a penniless young unmarried woman at the start of the nineteenth century, your options are somewhat limited. They will get better, though! Turn to page 67.
