Reviews

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent writing, engaging characters, and gripping story The Night Lords trilogy is definitely my favorite series in the entire Black library collection. I have been reading 40k novels for roughly 15 years and this series has inspired me like none other. I even based my 40K miniature army off the Night Lords after reading the novels. This Omnibus is a collection of 3 main novels plus a couple of short stories that take place between each main novel. It follows an Apothecary named Talos Valcoran who is the leader of 10th Claw in a Night Lord warband under the rule of "The Exalted." The entire series is written extremely well and covers a very rarely explored character dynamic between each of the legionnaires. Each of the Night Lords seems to hate each other, and they are constantly criticising each others flaws, yet are forced to work as a group out of necessity. It dives deep into the struggling legion and its shame at being so mismanaged and constantly at war with itself. The novels also place the characters in unique and interesting settings. They are forced to team up with other Chaos Legions, as well as some of the major characters commanding them. This series also does an amazing job of humanizing the Night Lords. At certain points you start to feel bad for them and kind of relate to them...... and then 3 pages later they skin someone alive and hang them up for everyone to see. Even if the Night Lords aren't your preferred legion, give this Omnibus a chance. I was a hardcore Word Bearers and Iron Warriors follower and was 99% going to make them the colour scheme for my army. After reading this series its 100% Night Lords all the way. Ave Dominus Nox! (Read the novels and you'll understand)
