Dear Reader,

Have you ever wanted to know what it's like to be immortal? To journey through the night stalking the evil that preys on humans? To have unlimited wealth, unlimited power? That is my existence, and it is dark and dangerous. I play hero to thousands, but am known to none. And I love every minutes of it.

Or so I thought until one night when I woke up handcuffed to my worst nightmare: a conservative woman in a button-down shirt. Or in Amanda's case, one buttoned all the way up to her chin. She's smart, sexy, witty, and wants nothing to do with the paranormal--in other words, me.

My attraction to Amanda Devereaux goes against everything I stand for. Not to mention the last time I fell in love it cost me not only my human life, but also my very soul. Yet every time I look at her, I find myself wanting to try again. Wanting to believe that love and loyalty do exist.

Even more disturbing, I find myself wondering if there's any way a woman like Amanda can love a man whose battle scars run deep, and whose heart was damaged by a betrayal so savage that he's not sure it will ever beat again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I would wake up next to Kyrian anytime! Kyrian wakes up handcuffed to Amanda. A damion is using innocent Amanda to force Kyrian into playing his game with the loser giving up his life. With an innocent in the game Kyrian does all he can to get separated from Amanada to keep her safe. While each find themselves drawn to the other, each has had their hearts hurt, and they are polar opposites; it will never work. When the damion Desiderius burns down Amanda’s home and threatens her family. Kyrian vows to protect her at all costs. While in his home the couple find themselves more and more attracted to each other, and the thought of the inevitable separate unbearable. Kyrian is a Dark Hunter and immortal it would never work out. Kyrian became a Dark Hunter as his wife’s ultimate betrayal thousands of years ago. To survive the damion both must learn to get over they’re past and trust each other. If they can do so they will survive and the future is open to all possibilities. Book two in the Dark Hunter series was great. We are getting more of the over all back story about the Dark Hunters. The relationship that develops between Kyrian and Amanda is a great realistic pace. I devoured this book and am on to the third in the series. ***SPOILER*** I thought it was great how Amanda was able to fulfill the test and get Kyrian’s soul back, but on her own terms.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from More Like Nightmares Night Pleasures is the first book in Kenyon's popular Dark Hunter series and takes place in the same 'universe' as her previous book Fantasy Lover. I guess Fantasy Lover was kind of like a prequel because it introduced characters that are seen again in this book. I quite enjoyed Fantasy Lover and so was looking forward to this one. Too bad it wasn't all that great. Amanda Devereaux likes to think of herself as the normal one in a family of psychics. Her twin sister hunts down vampires, another reads tarot, and everyone else has some type of psychic ability. Amanda prides herself on being ordinary and deliberately develops a low-key life as an accountant with a dull fiancé. Things are going swell until she can no longer put off letting Cliff, her fiancé, meet her family. Of course her family is more that Cliff can handle and so he breaks off their engagement. To add insult to injury, Amanda is then very suddenly pulled into her sister's vampire world when she is accidentally kidnapped and awakens to find herself handcuffed to a sexy, leather-clad man. Kyrian of Thrace, the leather-clad man in question, is a dark hunter. He is also conveniently the best-friend of Julian from Fantasy Lover. Small world, huh? The first half of this book, deals primarily with Amanda and Kyrian's developing relationship, or rather, mutual lust. I found their 'love story' was both unbelievable (their immediate and complete absorption with each other was inexplicable) and unbelievably tedious. If they aren't lusting for each other at inappropriate moments - during car chases and knife fights - then there is the endless angst over why they can never be together. Things pick up slightly in the second half but not by much, and there are a lot of things about the story that are just sort of suddenly wrapped up with explanations that had me shaking my head. Both main characters fall flat. Kyrian, with his innate distrust of women, is flippant and the stereotype of the guy who uses humour to hide his real feelings. Amanda, is emotionless, taking everything in stride. Her fiancé dumps her, she's kidnapped, her house is burnt down and there is a soul sucking vampire stalking her and all she cares about is what's in Kyrian's leather pants. And don't get me started on how some things were just down right cheesy. The villain especially had me rolling my eyes. His one liners were stupid and I didn't understand what made him such a formidable foe for all his bumbling around. Of course since Kyrian just walks right into his trap, he really didn't have to try that hard. Because this is the first book in the series, Kenyon has to impart alot of background information on the Dark Hunters. The rules of Kenyon's world are fairly complex, and so numerous that characters have to spend paragraphs of clunky exposition explaining to Amanda (and thus, to the reader) how the paranormal creatures operate. Kyrian is a vampire, but he's not really an ordinary vampire. He's a Dark-Hunter. Many of the normal vampire restrictions are different for him. And there are other Hunter creations out there to take out evil in the four dimensions: time, space, earth, and dreams. One assumes they all have their own rules and characteristics as well. These creatures are all spawned from the gods of ancient Greek mythology, which adds another layer of confusion for the reader to sort out. The only shining light in the whole mess is Nick, Kyrian's squire. Unlike the two main characters, Nick was surprisingly mult-dimensional and added a bit of fun. Hopefully we will see more of him in future installments. I started this book with rather low expectations - assuming that like Fantasy Lover, it would be a nice, afternoon diversion, a bit of romantic fluff. While I wouldn't say I hated the book, it really didn't have much entertainment value. 2010-078

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Oh Gods........He's H.O.T.!! Night pleasures is the 2nd book in the dark hunters series by sherrilyn kenyon, and it was quite a joy ride! Recently single Amanda Devereaux is an accountant who tries to have a normal life, it's a hard thing to do since her family is anything but normal. Her mother is all see ing her sister Selena(who you run into in the first book) is a fortune teller/match maker and her twin sister tabitha is a vampire slayer so like I said not so normal. One night she is on her way to let tabitha's dog out when amanda see's something in the coroner of the house, and it's moving and then everything goes dark and her world as she know's it is about to change. Amanda wakes up in a room in an underground tunnel but to her surprise she isn't alone, there is a man handcuffed to her a very hot sexy man. When the man wakes up the two of them stop short when they hear the creapy voice of their captor and he simply tells them that the hunt is on. Well amanda has no idea what's going on but the man chained to her is alert and aware. He explains who the captor was and then introduces himself as hunter (no last name) and tells her that he is a dark hunter and he is a protecter of the human race, amanda still doesn't get what's going on but together they leave the tunnels via ambulance because hunter can't be in the sunlight. Once they are at the hospital hunter explain's that there was a mistake of idenity and the crazy guy was really after her twin tabitha and that she still may be in danger, and then things get a little spicey and they start to explore each other. After the hot bathroom scene amanda calls her friend Julian Alexander(who you know as hot sex slave from fanasty lover) since he may know how to help with the special godly cuffs. when they get there Julian and Hunter are in shock as they look at each other because these two were the best of friends back when they were souliders and each thought the other to be dead. There is a great back story to this that I won't get into but it's really good. When it's time for hunter to leave he asks julian to watch over amanda while he goes parolling for daimons(vampires of sorts) and while hunter is gone amanda ask julian about hunter and what she finds out shocks her. Hunter aka Kyrian of thrace was a prince back then and was betrayed by his wife and torchured the worst way possiable. When amanda hears all of the story she falls harder for him but wonders if Kyrian/hunter could ever love or trust another again. This book was great! It was fast paced filled with action, romance adverture, you name it, it's there. If you are a fan of the black dagger brotherhood series then I really recommend the dark hunter series to you. The passion between Kyrian and amanda was truely something to read and make you really believe in love. 2010-005

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Ms. Keyon has done it again! Ms. Keyon has done it again! Kyrian is HOT HOT HOT HOT HOT! I'd give just about anything to wake up handcuffed to a mane like him! Whew! (**fans self vigorously). He was a Dark Hunter, and she was an uninitiated human. The two were not to mix…. When Amanda Deveraux, a self proclaimed "Boring and as straight-laced as they come" accountant went to her sisters home to let the dog out, she had no idea the adventure in store for her! After entering her sister’s home, Amanda finds that she is not alone. Someone is there! Before she can finish the thought, Amanda is hit over the head and kidnapped by Desiderius, an evil soul sucking vampire, or Daimon, who we later find out is after Amanda's deeply buried supernatural powers. Hours later, Amanda awakens to find herself handcuffed to a yummy "Macho Babe Boy"! Kyrian of Thrace, formerly a prince and renowned Spartan General from ancient Greece, never new what was in store when he woke up cuffed to "sexy, witty, and smart" Amanda Deveraux. After the ultimate betrayal by his wife over 2000 years ago, Kyrian was given one chance at vengeance in return for an eternity of service to Artemis (Greek Goddess) as a Dark Hunter - A vampire, who is sworn to protect humans from the Daimons. And it’s as a Dark Hunter that Kyrian must follow his duty and protect Amanda at any cost. But, what if that protection comes at the cost of his broken heart? With twists and turns that kept this reader turning the page for more, Night Pleasures is a thoroughly entertaining and sensual read! You will not be disappointed! Fav Comical Quote, Page 26: “What is a Dark Hunter?” she asked. “Is it like Buffy the Vampire Slayer?” He laughed at that. “Yes, I’m a small, emaciated teenage girl who struts around fighting vampires in earrings they would rip out of my ears and shove up my ----“ Fav Emotion Filled Passage, Page 206: Since the day Theonen betrayed him, he had been suspicious pf anyone who came near him. He had given his wife everything he had, and still it hadn’t been enough. If he couldn’t win her love, then he could win no one else’s. He knew it. Over the centuries, Kyrian had convinced himself that it didn’t matter. The he needed no one at all. Until Amanda. She had breached his defenses and now he felt naked before her. She, alone, had opened his heart and touched him deep inside it. He wanted her. Mind. Body, Soul. There was no part of her he didn’t want to claim. Interesting Tidbit: I’ve seen the term “agapeemenee” used in both Fantasy Lover and Night Pleasure, so of course, I became curious! “Agapeemene” -- a term of endearment, equivalent to 'dear', 'beloved', etc. Origin, Ancient Greek

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I liked it! In book number two of the Dark Hunter series, we have Kyrian of Thrace, our Dark Hunter and hero, and Amanda Devereaux, the youngest of the Devereaux sisters and quite possibly the most normal of the girls as our heroine. Both are opposites and have no intention of crossing paths until they both wake up in a warehouse handcuffed to one another. And the fun begins… Forced to really get to know one another, considering their predicament, our two leads initially start off not huge fans of one another. Amanda has been working so hard to repress the paranormal that being forced to face it does not make her happy in the least. Kyrian is just trying to get his job done – killing the evil daimon Desiderius – without the interference of a conservative and frustrating human female. But alas the fates have other plans for those two, and what do you know, the more time they spend together the more they have trouble leaving one another’s sight in general. With Dark Hunters, the thing about them is that they traded in their souls to the God Artemis for one last act of vengeance against whoever betrayed them during their mortal lives and then agreed to become immortal warriors in the fight against daimons. That being said, these Dark Hunters tend to have baggage like no other, like I’m talking huge issues, and Kyrian is no different! The man has been betrayed by whom he thought was the love of his life, Theone, and the way he dies as a human is shocking as he is put through intense torture by his mortal enemy. So when Amanda begins to fall for Kyrian, she quickly realizes that there are some deep seeded issues within him and that one of them is his inability to trust a woman with his heart if not just in general. She is going to have to work really hard to break down those barriers and have him trust her completely if they are to have a chance at survival (as a couple and independently). And that’s not all, because Dark Hunters are not meant to have relationships. When becoming Hunters, they agree to a life of solitude away from emotion and feelings as it becomes distracting and they can’t do their job properly. It also puts the other person in danger. To give these books an HEA there has to be an out clause for the Hunter to regain his soul and be with the woman he loves. These books are stories of how these Hunters go about achieving this. With Kyrian and Amanda it’s a fun yet sad journey. While there are some excellent fight sequences, my favourite parts are when Amanda helps Kyrian overcome his personal demons to be able to take down the real ones. Kenyon brings forth two great characters who end up very well matched and have great chemistry. I really enjoyed this book and it once again encourages me to continue reading the series! 10*3

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fascinatingly Fantastic! After reading Fantasy Lover, the first in the Dark Hunter series, I was seriously wondering where Kenyon was going, I had no idea what to expect. Then after reading Night Pleasures, I realized two things: that the first book was all about setting the premise of the series, and that I was really, really going to enjoy reading about all of these ancient warriors. Night Pleasures was definitely an action packed book, with a great story line, plot, and interesting characters. It was perfect for someone who’s semi-obsessed with the paranormal and completely obsessed with history and mythology. Having half-way fallen in love with Kyrian of Thrace in Fantasy Lover, I thoroughly enjoyed learning all about him in Night Pleasures. I can’t say enough good things about this book, it was interesting, sad, funny, entertaining, sweet, and so much more. I’m really excited to read the rest of the series, and I’m positive each of the subsequent novels will be as fascinating as Kyrian’s was.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not Amazing (spoilers) I read Fantasy Lover before I read this book and I just want to say the basic story line seems very similar. In the beginning both main characters, Grace in Fantasy Lover and Amanda in Night Pleasures, meet the troubled man by accident. In both books the men are tourtured people in need of saving and in both books **Spoiler!** the men end up being saved by the main women and then marrying them and giving them their dream of having kids. Very typical and predictable. Still it was a great read and I would reccomend it to Sherrilyn Kenyon fans.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I Think I'm in Love... If this book doesn't captivate you, then you will love it because Kyrian - or some other Dark Hunter - will make you drool and want to read the series. I beleive this is one of the most creative works of paranormal romance I have ever come across. It's very different, because its a concept that no author has come up with. The entire Dark Hunter universe is it's own thing. I would suggest anyone who wants something extremely differen't to give this one a go. Or if you want to know what you're investing in, visit

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Just Too Cliché This brought back memories of all those trashy romance novels I read as a teenager. The book was fine, but followed very much in the same formula of typical harlequin novels. If I was still 15, the romance and vampire flair would have made this one a favorite.
