"If three characters were good in Big Little Lies, nine are even better in Nine Perfect Strangers." -Lisa Scottoline, The New York Times Book Review

From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of Big Little Lies

Could ten days at a health resort really change you forever? In Liane Moriarty's latest page-turner, nine perfect strangers are about to find out...

Nine people gather at a remote health resort. Some are here to lose weight, some are here to get a reboot on life, some are here for reasons they can't even admit to themselves. Amidst all of the luxury and pampering, the mindfulness and meditation, they know these ten days might involve some real work. But none of them could imagine just how challenging the next ten days are going to be.

Frances Welty, the formerly best-selling romantic novelist, arrives at Tranquillum House nursing a bad back, a broken heart, and an exquisitely painful paper cut. She's immediately intrigued by her fellow guests. Most of them don't look to be in need of a health resort at all. But the person that intrigues her most is the strange and charismatic owner/director of Tranquillum House. Could this person really have the answers Frances didn't even know she was seeking? Should Frances put aside her doubts and immerse herself in everything Tranquillum House has to offer - or should she run while she still can?

It's not long before every guest at Tranquillum House is asking exactly the same question.

Combining all of the hallmarks that have made her writing a go-to for anyone looking for wickedly smart, page-turning fiction that will make you laugh and gasp, Liane Moriarty's Nine Perfect Strangers once again shows why she is a master of her craft.

Liane Moriarty is the author of the #1 New York Times bestsellers Big Little Lies, The Husband's Secret, and Truly Madly Guilty, the New York Times bestsellers What Alice Forgot and The Last Anniversary, and The Hypnotist's Love Story and Three Wishes. She lives in Sydney, Australia, with her husband and two children.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not what you're expecting I've read a few Liane Morairty stories and generally enjoy them. This one took a bit for me to get into ..and it definitely was not what I was expecting. It's not that the plot is outrageous or unbelievable, it's just that it went to places I didn't think it would go. It's worth the read, but be prepared to be surprised.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This book will freak you out!! Nine perfect strangers sign up for a health retreat, unbeknownst to any of them, a mad woman is running the center. They are given LSD, magic mushrooms and ecstasy in their smoothies without their consent or knowledge. After their night of tripping out on the drugs, the next morning they wake up to find that they are all locked in the room together. They now have to solve a puzzle to figure out how to get out of there. Then they must go on "death row" and defend the person they are assigned to and argue why that person deserves to live. This book had me biting my finger nails and flipping pages like crazy. I myself have wanted to go to a health and awakening retreat,so putting myself in the characters position, I felt like I was there. This book will freak you out!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from A Tale if Two Halves The first half of this book was tremendous. Great characters, interesting and Intriguing content. I would even say I was inspired. I kept hoping that the book would continue down the path of some kind of inspirational fiction novel. Then came the second half and it crashed right into a wall of predictable, corny fromage. It was still entertaining but I was disappointed with how strong the novel came out of the gate and was hoping it would have not fallen off the ledge as it did.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Enjoyable I tend to like Liane Moriarty's books and this one was no exception. I was worried about it being told from so many perspectives but she eases you into the different characters so that you don't feel overwhelmed. It kept me engaged and the last few chapters were really interesting.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not what I expected! This is a wild ride with plot points I didn’t see coming. Definitely not what I thought was going to happen. A very entertaining read and quite difficult to put down. I always enjoy her books and this one did not disappoint!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Adequate This was an improvement over Truly, Madly, Guilty and had so many great elements - the setting, the characters and their backstories, the follow ups with the characters after the experience they share at Tranquillum House - however, I thought the satire surrounding the wellness industry went off the rails, and felt at odds with the story that had been unfolding. I still read it in a day, the story moves quickly and brings up important and uncomfortable issues - end of long-term relationships, self-perception, and death of a child among others - but the discussion around them was tainted because of how abrupt the tonal shift is with the inciting incident. It's fine, but I won't be shouting at anyone to run out and pick up a copy.
