about

“What a box of tricks! This full-throttle thriller, dark and driving, rivals Agatha Christie for sheer ingenuity and James Patterson for flat-out speed. Swift, sharp, and relentless.”  — A. J. Finn, #1 New York Times bestselling author of The Woman in the Window

A brilliant, edgy thriller about four strangers, a blizzard, a kidnapped child, and a determined young woman desperate to unmask and outwit a vicious psychopath.

A kidnapped little girl locked in a stranger’s van. No help for miles. What would you do?

On her way to Utah to see her dying mother, college student Darby Thorne gets caught in a fierce blizzard in the mountains of Colorado. With the roads impassable, she’s forced to wait out the storm at a remote highway rest stop. Inside are some vending machines, a coffee maker, and four complete strangers.

Desperate to find a signal to call home, Darby goes back out into the storm . . . and makes a horrifying discovery. In the back of the van parked next to her car, a little girl is locked in an animal crate.

Who is the child? Why has she been taken? And how can Darby save her?

There is no cell phone reception, no telephone, and no way out. One of her fellow travelers is a kidnapper. But which one?

Trapped in an increasingly dangerous situation, with a child’s life and her own on the line, Darby must find a way to break the girl out of the van and escape.

But who can she trust?

With exquisitely controlled pacing, Taylor Adams diabolically ratchets up the tension with every page. Full of terrifying twists and hairpin turns, No Exit will have you on the edge of your seat and leave you breathless.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from WHAT.A.BOOK. I have no idea why it took me so long to read that book, but it was amazing from beginning to end. If you’re going to read this book forget everything you know about psychological thrillers because this book through all of it out the window. From the third chapter I knew this was going to be one hell of a story. And it was!!! I Highly recommend!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from You Cannot STOP Reading This Once You Start HOLY HANNAH THIS BOOK! I had heard amazing reviews of it, and so I knew I needed to pick it up ASAP to see what all the hype was about. I will say, I read ALOT of thrillers, but I don't remember the last one that had THIS MANY twists and turns that left me guessing, reeling and flat out shocked. I loved every single page. 100 percent be ready to read this one in one sitting once you pick it up. Taylor Adams did remarkable work making this a fast read, while never sacrificing the detail and the plot. I spent the entire night reading this one feeling as though I was just as trapped at the rest stop as the characters were. Heart pounding and insanely tense - literally the exact recipe you want for a thriller! I also appreciated that these were characters with some depth - flawed and human characters, and a wonderfully evil villain playing a cat and mouse game that has you rooting for them to survive the night.....but totally unsure if they really will. I won't say anything else, because every reader needs to be able to devour this one on their own terms. But rest assured this one deserves all the praise its getting!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not Worth The Money This book did not hold my attention since the story dragged on and on! Yawn! Yawn! I actually hated this book. Zero stars for this novel!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Grisly Wild Ride Relentlessly paced, I blew through NO EXIT in less than 48 hours. One twist after the other, Taylor Adams is clearly the sort of author who enjoys making things as challenging as possible for his characters, and it made for an edge-of-my-seat reading experience. I stayed up way late in order to finish, because there just wasn't anywhere to put it down and oh my do I LOVE books like that. Much darker than I would've expected, the last hundred pages or so had cringeworthy violence, as in violence that I felt throughout my entire body and therefore needed to cringe. Visceral, terrifying events, for sure, and and ending that held no punches. Maybe more like 4.5 stars instead of five, but I'm rounding up because forcing me to stay up late in order to finish a book deserves five stars (even if occasionally Darby caught a few too many lucky breaks).

Editorial Reviews

“One of the year’s most unforgettable reads. . . . Adams does for highway rest stops what Stephen King did for shuttered resort hotels, psychotic nurses and clowns under bridges.”
