Rated 3 out of 5 by from Dang this book was creepy The author did a really good job coming up with the details to the story. Some scenes seriously creeped me out, and the entire book was thrilling. Some parts were slightly boring though, and I found myself skimming through them. But the murder itself is rather...creative. Let's leave it at that.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome This book is definitely a thriller! It has an excellent hook and keeps you on the edge of yourself until the end. The author does an excellent job of developing an endearing protagonist. I finished this captivating book in two days and it kept my heart racing. One of my students is reading it now and she can't put it down either. The content is mature and it is probably most suitable for grade 9 and up depending on the maturity level of the reader. I look forward to reading more books from this author!!

After reading it, I don't regret buying! No One Else Can Have You is my ultimate favourite book!! I love the main character's personality. It was different from what I was used to read.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A quick enjoyable read Even though the plot was great, the writing was iffy in some parts. I felt myself falling out of the story now and then, but a good story that I would definitely recommend to anyone.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Quirky I have to say this book has been getting a lot of hype thus far and I was excited to be able to download this for review from Edelweiss. I have to admit that the hype is warranted for many reasons. I really liked the main character Kippy a lot. She is reeling from the murder of her best friend Ruth. She wants to try to find out who exactly is responsible for this brutal act. While she is on the hunt she gets herself into the most ridiculous situations. So while this book is about something dark and twisted, it is also quite funny. Kippy says exactly what is on her mind at all times. She is quirky and I loved everything about her. I have to admit that there were some things that made this book a 3.5/5 for me rather than a 5. I felt like some of the things that happened in this novel are a little far fetched which made things a little less believable. That being said the shenanigans are what make this book funny. I also think that the mystery part of this novel is slightly obvious. I had the murderer figured out within the first few chapters. I think this may have something to do with the fact that I often read adult mystery novels which tend to be a little more complex. Let's for a minute look at the cover appeal of this book. I love the sweater with the hanging moose. It fits the book so well and I think that many will pick up this book on cover appeal alone. It's gorgeous and I know that I may have first been attracted to this book based on the cover. Overall this is a well written book with a fun and unique character that I loved. It is definitely worth a read.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Could Have Been Better To be honest, I rounded up the original rating of 2.5 to 3 for obvious reasons-- you can't do half a star on this website. This book is not "amazing!" but it is a fair read. It took me nearly a month to finish though, rather than the usual day or two it takes me to finish a book. I thought this book would be one of my favourites; jam-packed with action, twists and turns, and awesome characters. But it isn't. There are a few scenes that makes my heart beat a wee bit faster but the plot is agonizingly slow. You have the main character, Kippy: a very child-like teenager that seemed to have never grown past the age of ten. Her best friend, Ruth, is this cool, popular, gorgeous person; the complete opposite of Kippy. Honestly, I would've preferred Ruth as the main character but oh well. Beggars can't be choosers. The defining part of the book might've been the pages of Ruth's diary that was incorporated into the story telling. It may have even been my favourite parts of the book when I was actually paying attention to what I was reading. If it wasn't for that major plot twist that appeared 97% into the book, I would've cried and begged for my money back. Man, that plot twist. I never would've guessed. Of course, I had my suspicions. I mean, who else could've it been? But damn, I was caught off guard. It definitely made up for the disappointment from reading the pages before this twist. All in all, unless you're in it for the long haul, this book is not for you. Looking for romance? I don't think this book is for you. The romance between the main character and another character (he shall remain nameless) is pretty far-fetched. I didn't believe it for a second. Looking for action? Meh, this book has some mild action. Looking for just a little excitement because your heart condition can't take a beating from an actually-amazingly-written-heart-pounding book? Ding ding! This book is for you.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Don't Listen to the Negative Reviews! THIS COVER IS BEAUTIFUL, there, I said it. The stellar cover is one of the reasons I picked up this book, not gonna lie. As soon as I began the novel, I was addicted, it was like a drug. From the first chapter, the author digs you into the book. The whole time I was reading it, I felt like I was living in the novel. It was so detailed and I didn't even get distracted by the largest things, I didn't know that time was passing. I love how this takes place in an unknown small town. There won't be a large amount of press and the whole murder investigation wasn't airing all over America, that would change the book completely.  At first, I thought that it would be some hillbilly redneck book with weird language use and strange references, thank goodness the author got past that. *phew* The writing was amazing. I was stuck with this book until it was over, and when you read it, make sure you have time for one whole sitting with this baby. Kippy, the main character, was strange. At some points I liked her, and at others, I wondered why she was so attached to the whole investigation and why Ruth meant so much to her even though she treated her like a piece of rubbish. (See what I did there? :p) This book has so much to do with psychology, I'm not going to lie. There are characters featured with tough lives and who were currently going through some sort of disorder. That's what made the book even better, because you never know what could be going through someone's mind at the moment. There were so many suspects that I had in mind for the real killer, but by the end, the author definitely shocked me with the outstanding outcome. Murder mysteries don't usually end like this but this amazing author really did something special here.  I need more from this author as soon as possible, but I sure am happy that she is not turning this into some kind of murder mystery series or trilogy, it's over and done with. A definite 5/5 star rating for this book, it was beautiful. <3

Editorial Reviews

“Hale’s story is pure fiction. It’s also extremely funny. As the protagonist, Kippy Bushman, attempts to unravel the mystery of who killed her best friend, the reader is introduced to a cast of bizarre characters that turn what could be a grisly mystery into a darkly hilarious madcap romp.”
