about

Born in a prison and removed from his drug-dependent mother, rejection is all that 7-year-old Alex knows. When Cathy is asked to foster little Alex, aged 7, her immediate reaction is: Why can't he stay with his present carers for the last month? He's already had many moves since coming into care as a toddler and he'll only be with her a short while before he goes to live with his permanent adoptive family. But the present carers are expecting a baby and the foster mother isn't coping, so Alex goes to live with Cathy. He settles easily and is very much looking forward to having a forever family of his own. Cathy has been a foster carer for over 25 years, during which time she has looked after more than 100 children, of all ages and backgrounds. She has three teenage children of her own; one of whom was adopted after a long-term foster placement. The name Cathy Glass is a pseudonym.Cathy has written 16 books, including bestselling memoirs...

Reviews

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Heartbreaking but such a wonderful book. This was my very first Cathy Glass book. By the end of the first chapter I was hooked. I stayed up all night reading it.. wanting to know everything that happened and how it all ended. I cried. I laughed. I felt the heartache both Cathy and Alex must have felt. Knowing this was based on true events made it all that more sad. I want to say more but do not want to spoil the book for anyone considering reading. If you like true stories that will touch your heart..this is a book for you to read.
