Not Dressed for the Occasion has no specific beginning or end but is a string of observations birthed out of my walk with God. It delves into the deeply personal failures of life and honest confession of sins, as well as explores the wonderful experiences and potential we have in God. Though the book exposes the present world view that contradicts the traditional six thousand years of proven moral lessons, it also deals with the daily experiences that challenge our faith and intimacy with God, the most common thread being God Himself and the incredible revelation we enjoy because of the life, death, and resurrection of His Son, Jesus Christ. In this sense, this book is a unique view of the world from a realist Christian perspective. I have endeavoured to throw light on situations that are sometimes personal, sometimes humorous, sometimes political, and sometimes church-centred, but all from a biblical world view. The question remains: Is there hope for a world gone crazy?

Editorial Reviews

Ron Harris’ writing is consistent with his character, as I have known him from long years of delightful “iron sharpens iron” friendship. His style is punchy but light of foot, challenging always, yet often with a welcome, underlying humour. In this excellent book, we are faced with a series of remarkable insights—sometimes gentle and sometimes startling. It is this consistent “spirit” insight that I find most appealing, demanding a pause for reflection after each chapter. Through this book I have been enriched and also sometimes a little shaken in the latent areas of my thinking. I commend it to everyone who is hungry for the truth.

—Jeff Steady,
Pastor, Malvern Hills Life Church, New Frontiers (ret.) & Transform Work,
U.K.

Ron and myself have been good friends and involved in various Christian ministries for more than forty-five years. I am very pleased he has taken the time to write Not Dressed for the Occasion—it is a gift to the church. He is a gifted leader and outstanding communicator. Over the past few years, he has written many short articles that many find instructional and inspiring. I have found his articles to be very applicable to my daily life. As a result, I am more sensitive to the Holy Spirit’s leading, have a better understanding of the secrets of the Kingdom, and experience improved interpersonal relationships with others. I am sure you will find this book a very easy read—easy to understand and very useful in small group meetings for discussion. I highly recommend it.

—Rev. Brian Devitt,
Pastoral Counsellor, The Embassy Church,
Oshawa, Ontario, Canada

It is an honour to commend to you this book written by my friend, Ron Harris. I can attest to the honesty and wisdom this work embodies. His desire to see people grow in a maturity that embraces both knowledge and practical applications of the Father’s love is evident in the words of this book. Having known Ron and his wonderful wife, Brenda, has made my life, as well as the lives of many others, richer. He is “a man after God’s own heart.”

—Dan Chappell,
Prophetic and Teaching Ministry, The Fellowship Christian Church,
US and Canada
