In his New York Times bestselling memoir, A Work in Progress, Connor Franta shared his journey from small-town Midwestern boy to full-fledged Internet sensation. Exploring his past with humor and astounding insight, Connor reminded his fans of why they first fell in love with him on YouTube—and revealed to newcomers how he relates to his millions of dedicated followers.

Now, two years later, Connor is ready to bring to light a side of himself he’s rarely shown on or off camera. In this diary-like look at his life since A Work in Progress, Connor talks about his battles with clinical depression, social anxiety, self-love, and acceptance; his desire to maintain an authentic self in a world that values shares and likes over true connections; his struggles with love and loss; and his renewed efforts to be in the moment—with others and himself.

Told through short essays, letters to his past and future selves, poetry, and original photography, Note to Self is a raw, in-the-moment look at the fascinating interior life of a young creator turning inward in order to move forward.

I'm so proud of Connor for being so open and vulnerable in this book because that's what makes it so memorable and creates such an intimate experience. Also I can't finish this review without mentioning the beautiful pictures taken all taken by Connor himself. Even if you're not a fan of Connor Franta I still recommend this book because it truly was a special experience.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Alright. I was drawn in by the book cover walking past in a store, so I read the back, opened it up and read a few pages, realizing it seemed similar to the style and words as the Lang Leav, Rupi Kaur type books so I decided to purchase. I began reading late that night and finished it for the most part within a half hour. While I mostly enjoyed the book, I did find there was a lot of pages where it just went on more random story like instead of poem/excerpt/powerful feeling word blips and found a lot of those to just not quite jive with the rest of it and really took you out of the "zone" you can get in reading those kinds of books, and my expectations I had from first glance were a little shattered, so I found it to be a bit disappointing in that aspect and ended up just skipping past most of those after the first few, figuring I would go back and read them at a later time and then I never did want to, so I was especially glad I got it for 40% off or I actually probably would have returned it, honestly.

Then the poems and little stories Connor adds in are so deep and insightful, alongside the very creative and artistic photos Connor has added. Reading this book for the first time and going to his book tour in Toronto a few months back were some amazing experiences I would like to relive over and over again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very artistic book While the poetry in this book isn't my style, I still fell in love with the artistic way the book was conceived and executed. It was clearly the result of hard and thoughtful work. Everything in this book is worth it. Even the poetry was touching in a simplistic yet meaningful way. I loved this book inside and out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Definite Buy This is how I honestly wish most self-bios were like. Connor writes honestly and openly and Note To Self indeed does read like his journal where he wrote down what he was thinking or feeling at the time. Mixing prose, photography, and poetry makes for a lovely read that doesn't feel too strenuous despite what the weight of the book makes you think. Instead the weight comes from the emotions and experiences written down in the chapters; in his first couple of chapters Connor writes that emotions really are the level playing field in which we all are players of the same team, and I couldn't agree more. I'd reccommend this book, not because it's written well, or by a well-known youtuber, but because I think so many people (myself included) will feel the need to go back and re-read it over and over again. So to me, the $30 is absolutely worth the money. #plumreview

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Authentic and Raw I found A Work In Progress to be very relatable. At this one, as excited I was to read, when I finally got it, I was skeptical this could not have been up to my expectations. While he says this book is for him, which is true, he has taken on the bravery of doing this for himself and then having the courage to share with the world. I was aware that Note to Self is different from his previous memoir, yet the same style as before, the beautiful photography and even lines of prose, were evident and also enhanced him as a person. This book contains real honesty about what may appear as though is personal to Connor. In some sense, there are similar traits that others will connect on. That, is what I found, the purpose of this book. As a writer myself, I know that it's important to first write for yourself. Only then, do I believe, someone will then love the piece just as much as the author. I am one of them and have labelled this a favourite. His attempt to creatively express himself through words, and then having the heart to let this out into the world is going to be helpful to many people, and again, one of them was me. And I'm sure it can have the same effect on someone else as it will remind everyone that we are not all alone. There are times when I read where I believed this was not relevant to me, and it may not be for others. The point though, as he mentioned in his introduction, is to read this from start to finish. If there is a person who is in need of a good read of anything, this is one to have of a voice who is as young as I am, literally the same.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Engaging Experience! It is a unique multi-media book combining well-written prose, captivating poetry and stunning images. The amalgamation of these three forms of art combined with the emotionally engaging content made the book relatable and an unusual page-turner. It is an easy read and I highly recommend it!
