about

It’s the start of Jordan Sun’s junior year at the Kensington-Blaine Boarding School for the Performing Arts. Unfortunately, she’s an Alto 2, which—in the musical theatre world—is sort of like being a vulture in the wild: She has a spot in the ecosystem, but nobody’s falling over themselves to express their appreciation. So it’s no surprise when she gets shut out of the fall musical for the third year straight. But then the school gets a mass email: A spot has opened up in the Sharpshooters, Kensington’s elite a cappella octet. Worshiped . . . revered . . . all male. Desperate to prove herself, Jordan auditions in her most convincing drag, and it turns out that Jordan Sun, Tenor 1, is exactly what the Sharps are looking for.

Reviews

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I can't think of a single thing I dislike about Noteworthy. On the other hand, there are 101 things I can say I love about this book. Let's make a list, shall we: - She's the Man meets Pitch Perfect are the PERFECT comparisons - Relatable, witty main character, who I instantly took a liking to - Jordan is so reflective and thoughtful - I loved seeing her question everything and looking at things from someone else's POV. More people need to be like Jordan - Group of boys with an amazing dynamic, who I want to hang out with forever - Amazing bromances between the whole group and individuals - they aren't afraid to show their affection for each other which is SO refreshing to see -THE DIVERSITY OMG - it feels so organic and not simply ticking off boxes. I see so many different people everyday in my own life, so it was amazing to see this in a book. I LOVED IT - Every. single. character. is complex and has their strengths and weaknesses. There is a beautiful balance of simplicity and complexity - Side characters and villains are multifaceted too! - The romance is A+ and swoony - Cross dressing - The banter and jokes are hilarious - It makes you feel some serious feels - The technicalities of a capella - It's own voices I could probably keep going but I think it's fairly obvious how good this book is. Go read it.

Editorial Reviews

"Like her visual arts students at Kensington, Redgate crafts her characters with delicate lines and strong shadows within a phase of life that is anything but gentle."
