about

The #1 New York Times bestselling sequel to Words of Radiance, from epic fantasy author Brandon Sanderson at the top of his game.

In Oathbringer, the third volume of the New York Times bestselling Stormlight Archive, humanity faces a new Desolation with the return of the Voidbringers, a foe with numbers as great as their thirst for vengeance.

Dalinar Kholin's Alethi armies won a fleeting victory at a terrible cost: The enemy Parshendi summoned the violent Everstorm, which now sweeps the world with destruction, and in its passing awakens the once peaceful and subservient parshmen to the horror of their millennia-long enslavement by humans. While on a desperate flight to warn his family of the threat, Kaladin Stormblessed must come to grips with the fact that the newly kindled anger of the parshmen may be wholly justified.

Nestled in the mountains high above the storms, in the tower city of Urithiru, Shallan Davar investigates the wonders of the ancient stronghold of the Knights Radiant and unearths dark secrets lurking in its depths. And Dalinar realizes that his holy mission to unite his homeland of Alethkar was too narrow in scope. Unless all the nations of Roshar can put aside Dalinar's blood-soaked past and stand together-and unless Dalinar himself can confront that past-even the restoration of the Knights Radiant will not prevent the end of civilization.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Meh I really loved "The Way of Kings", and "Words of Radiance" a lot. This one, however, did not live up to the expectations nor the hype. It was long and dragged. The characters weren't plotted nicely and just irritated me. The famous "Brandon avalanche" was dull as well. I'm still gonna continue reading the books, which hopefully get better, but this one was disappointing. #plumreview

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Brandon Sanderson does it again! Very good follow up to Words of Radiance. It is a very big book and some park drag a little but all in all a good read.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A worthy successor to Words of Radiance Oathbringer is a dauntingly long novel with a high bar to live up to after Words of Radiance. Sanderson has done an admirable job of of tying the world together and advancing the story of The Stormlight Archive forward, with plenty of twists, turns, and character growth along the way. While I do not think Oathbringer quite reaches the lofty heights of The Way of Kings, and especially Words of Radiance, it is excellent ride and promises great things for book 4. Let us hope we won't have to wait too long!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This book is very good! This book is yet another amazing book in the Stormlight Archive. Sanderson is an amazing author and he has written an awesome book. This book is a very good book. I would recommend this book to a friend because it is a book that will make you want to read more. This book ends with a cliffhanger which also makes it very good. I think that everyone must read it because it is a very good book. This book is a book that continues Sanderson's streak of very good books. This book will make you feel like you are in the world of Roshar.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sanderson Never Disappoints The Stormlight Archive is a wonder of world-building, characterization, and storytelling at it's best. Oathbringer is the best book of the series so far in my opinion, but they are all superb. I highly recommend reading them.

Editorial Reviews

Praise for Brandon Sanderson"Sanderson is an evil genius. There is simply no other way to describe what he's managed to pull off in this transcendent final volume of his Mistborn trilogy." -RT Book Reviews (Gold Medal, Top Pick!) on The Hero of Ages"It's rare for a fiction writer to have much understanding of how leadership works and how love really takes root in the human heart. Sanderson is astonishingly wise." -Orson Scott Card"Sanderson is crafting an extremely well-thought out saga with Mistborn, one that looks to stand above the pack of his literary peers. The magic system is perfectly detailed, the world, though not completely revealed, has a great sense of natural logic to it, and the characters are a reflection of both." -SFF World"Intrigue, politics, and conspiracies mesh complexly in a world Sanderson realizes in satisfying depth and peoples with impressive characters." -Booklist on Mistborn"Highly recommended to anyone hungry for a good read." -Robin Hobb on Mistborn"Enjoyable, adventurous read." -Locus on Mistborn
