about

Janelle Wagoner kept a lot of secrets for her husband, but the one she tried hardest to protect was her own. She never suspected he knew or that he would choose to reveal it in such a dramatic way. Now that he's gone, leaving behind her and two children, Janelle is left to pick up the pieces and try to put her life back together before it's too late. Nathan Harris has only ever loved one woman, despite the fact that she was married to someone else. After learning that she has been hiding something from him, he's faced with a tough decision: With everything at stake, will he walk away from her for good, or will he lay it all on the line to win her back?

Reviews

Rated 3 out of 5 by from A very realistic view of a flawed couple After being married for ten years to an abusive husband, a psychopath really, Janelle is finally rid of him, however even in death Richard Wagoner still haunts her. Nathan has always loved Janelle, they have known each other a long time, and unfortunately she made the wrong choice. Early on in her marriage, Nathan had noticed that something wasn’t right, but he couldn’t help Janelle as much as he wanted. It’s a long and very bumpy road to romance for Janelle Wagoner and Detective Nathan Harris. Both Nathan and Janelle have made mistakes, and the repercussions are dramatic. Ms. Ascher has created very complex characters in Janelle and Nathan. Janelle is a rather insecure woman who means well but doesn’t quite go about it the right way, whereas Nathan is very much self-assured but doesn’t always act on his certainty. The secondary characters are also very interesting, mostly Janelle’s younger sister, Kelsey, whom I liked a lot. ON THE LINE is a very well written book, evenly paced, where plot twists abound. Janelle and Nathan are flawed people, and at times I must say I wanted to slap Janelle, and this probably the book’s greatest quality: it offers a very realistic portrait of the people involved in this story. A most satisfying read! I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
