Count all of the animals who come splishing, plunking, slooshing to the rescue in this counting board book! (ages 2 months-2years)

Can two fish, tails going swish, help? Will three moose, munching on spruce, be able to pull the unlucky duck out of the muck? Now perfectly sized for small hands, this counting rhyme is a feast of sounds and numbers that will have young listeners scrambling to join the slippy, sloppy fun!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Zing! Fun to Read! One Duck Stuck tells the story of a poor little duck stuck in the muck. He just can't get out. His cries for help are answered by a multitude of forest friends who all try to 'unstuck' the duck. With each try, more animals come to the rescue (it's a counting book afterall). You'll have fun with the repetitive nature of the book which leads to turn taking and helps early readers practice. Each rescue attempt comes with its own sound effect that makes it fun to read and what happens at the end cracks my kid up every time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One Duck Stuck is great fun for kids! One Duck Stuck shares incredible language and humour with young children. As the duck's friends try to help him out of the muck, kids love to chime in with numbers and words. The patterning of the language and the fun slimy, sloppy words is enough to make children of all ages smile. It also teaches young minds about cooperation and curtosy, because the duck is quick to say Thanks! All in all this is a great addition to any children's library.

From Our Editors

One duck is stuck in the muck down by the sleepy, slimy marsh. Who can help? What about those two fish with their tails splashing? Maybe the three moose munching on spruce over there? Or the four crickets chirping in the thickets? Can any of them help this duck out of the muck? Children are sure to love the bright and cheery illustrations in One Duck Stuck.

Editorial Reviews

Just as the title of this satisfying counting book says, there's one duck stuck (in the muck, as it turns out). Different groups of marshland creatures, from two fish to ten dragonflies, appear with an offer of help . . . [children will be] enchanted by Chapman's vibrant pictures and the immensely satisfying sounds and rhythms of Root's text.—Publishers WeeklyPerfect for reading aloud, this counting book not only contains bright bold illustrations but also has lots of 'clomp, clomp' and 'splish, splash,' as well as other sound effects that children will love to replicate... great fun and sure to become an instant favorite among the toddler crowd.—Booklist[A] merry counting book . . . Root's bouncy tale, aided by rousing watercolor illustrations, would be a delight even if the duck in question didn't eventually manage to fly free of 'the muggy, buggy marsh.'—Parenting
