You can run from the grave, but you can't hide . . .

Half-vampire Cat Crawfield is now Special Agent Cat Crawfield, working for the government to rid the world of the rogue undead. She's still using everything Bones, her sexy and dangerous ex, taught her, but when Cat is targeted for assassination, the only man who can help her is the vampire she left behind.

Being around him awakens all her emotions, from the adrenaline kick of slaying vamps side by side to the reckless passion that consumed them. But a price on her head—wanted: dead or half-alive—means her survival depends on teaming up with Bones. And no matter how hard she tries to keep things professional between them, she'll find that desire lasts forever . . . and that Bones won't let her get away again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Even Better Than The First The second installment of Jeaniene Frost’s Night Huntress Series was even better than the first. I loved the addition of Cat’s team; Dave, Juan, Cooper, and Tate. I think Spade will be a cool character too. I’m waiting to see some sort of show-down between Justina (Cat’s mom), Max (Cat’s father), and Cat. I think there is more to the story and I think Cat’s mom may not be the victim she’s lead Cat to believe she is. I enjoyed this book so much I’m going to jump right into the next one.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Even better than the first Given the amount of press this series has gotten and the fact that it still seems to be going strong I was hopeful that book two would be better than the series opener. It was. We get more of that wonderful Cat and Bones chemistry and I loved the new characters. Cat's role in a super secret supernatural hit squad was great. I liked the interaction between Cat and her team and I really began to feel invested in the people (?). I pretty much just read straight through and the ending had me perched on the edge of my seat. I liked the resolution - a little predictable but it did have a twist that kept me interested till the very last page. Moving on to book three.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just Keeps Getting Better Frost was definitely on a role with the second instalment of the Night Huntress Series. The super independent and wonderfully powerful in her own right, Mac, joined the Special Forces unit created to hunt down murdering vampires after leaving Bones high and dry at the end of the first book. Four years later she still hasn’t gotten over him and she’s made quite a name for herself as the Red Reaper. When she gets called to a murder scene back in her home town that took place in her old farm house she wonders if she’ll run into her first and only love. She gets more than she bargains for when she finds pieces of rock from Bones cave in the house. Is Bones trying to lure her out by killing innocent humans or has someone else discovered her? After all, he did tell her he would never stop looking for her. But with a list of vampires as long as her arm after her it’s hard to say, and if/when he does find her will he be ticked or happy to see her? Come on…it’s Bones! He told her he’d always protect her. The two of them kicking butt together when Bones comes back in the picture to help Cat find out who’s trying to kill her brings back the wonderful dynamic we saw in the first book. The chemistry between Mac and Bones is wonderful. Erotic and intense doesn’t even begin to explain how they are in this instalment of the Night Huntress Series. Frost is amazingly witty with the bantering between her characters. Let’s hope she can keep it up throughout the series. I’m looking forward to finding out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cat's no damsel! I love this series, Cat and Bones are the best fictional couple in a paranormal EVER! I love that she is such a strong female, and can go toe to toe with Bones, she doesn't need to be rescued by her man. I'm even hard pressed to label this series a paranormal romance, because even though the chemistry between Cat and Bones is smoking hot, the romance is just a bonus because the action and the storyline are so well written. This series only gets better as it goes and Frost really stamps her signature on the genre. I cannot recommend this series enough, even if you haven't tried a paranormal romance before!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from DON'T FEAR THE RED REAPER Gah... This was just all kinds of ways good, the question here is why did I leave the delicious and uber sexy Bones sitting on my TBR shelf for so long? I mean I knew this was going to be great, I figured Cat was going to kick some major butt and I'd already heard all the rumours about the infamous chapter 32 So why the wait?? I just don't have an answer. Anyways I loved this second part in the Night Huntress series. So where to begin? How about awesome, exciting, erotic, hilarious, bloody, sigh-worthy, movie-worthy, clever, romantic, thrilling, passionate, vengeful, intense, emotional, surprising, freakin fantastic and ultimately addictive. One Foot In The Grave gave me everything I could possibly want in a paranormal romance and then some. Half Vampire Cat Crawfield is now working for an underground section of the government. She and her (awesome) team help rid the world of those bad rogue Vampires. You know the ones that use humans as hors d'oeuvres. When we begin Cat hasn't seen her beloved Bones in 4 years although she's still using everything he taught her, still quick with a dagger and still slaying readers with witty one-liners. One of the great parts of this book is the anticipation the reader feels waiting and wondering when and just how they're going to get back together. And I will admit I was surprised at seeing this softer broken side of Cat that still pined for Bones (who wouldn't) Ultimately their reunion is everything you'd hope for; violent, romantic, hilarious and very sexy. (It also left me craving a Gin) Bones is once more unwavering in his love for Cat, luscious to listen to and retains his title as my ultimate literary boyfriend. With Bones back in her life Cat now has some explaining to do. Like why is he still alive? There are more pressing issues to deal with though and with her team "merely" human the only one able to protect her from the master Vampire who's targeted her for assassination is Bones. All Cat's got to do is train and keep her team alive, deal with that pesky hit man, do full contact Pilates with Bone's ex and kill her father. All without losing Bones again in the process. So as you've guessed I loved this and although I'm not one for the tough action heroines Cat in a brawl with the bodies piling up is just too awesome and that last battle with the 7ft Grendel is something else. My only complaint here would have to be Cat's mother and her continued arguments with Bones which both annoyed and bored me. However we're given a bunch of fabulous new secondary characters to drool over, who I hope to continue getting to know as the series continues. In particular the newly transformed Dave (although I adored the entire team) and a couple of charming new Vamps. And I promise I won't keep Bones on the shelf for another year. Cheers

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Mmmmm Give A Dog A Bone!!!! The second book in the Night Huntress series is a winner. My second time reading this book, and it was just as awesome as ever. Cat and Bones are back in a big way, and this is a series not be missed. This book picks up where the first one left us without Bones, and Cat wallowing in all her self-pity, thus causing my Bones pain. Well he is back with his “Hallo, Kitten” and it gives tingles to the spine. Give a dog a bone already, because I am would pull out some serious doggy tricks. I would give him my paw, roll over, beg (a lot) just for the taste of some Bones. Seems Cat is now involved in an agency tracking down and killing evil vampires, and her job just got closer to home, I mean family issues and mixing work with pleasure. Everyone wants a piece of the elusive Red Reaper, and they are forking up the cash to see her head on a platter. Well this a$$-kicking lady won’t go down without a fight; I am talking silver blades in hearts, and decapitation just another day in paradise. Cat has to face some serious issues, when her intimate relationship with a vampire gets the third degree at work, but to hell with it, she is so not giving him up for a second time. To hell with what her boss says and her crazy ass mom (and I do mean crazy). This book has a lot of new characters, that instantly will become faves and others just piss you off *ahem* that Ahole Tate. Its like dude get over it and move on because “ Once you go dead, no one else is better in bed” pay attention Tate. The action is quite solid, it moves with wicked fluidity and it is quite hilarious. Cat at times might piss me off but, she is a kick-a$$ female who can handle anything, she just need to smarten up a bit. Bones is there anything bad about him, he is pure awesomeness, has and English accent, and he is one of the sexist characters in a PNR. This series is wicked fun, and if there is any reason to read this series, chapter 32 is that reason. Just pure fun and sexy as hell, I’m a shut up now! 2010-052

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Blood sugar sex magic! Yeah, I know I stole that title from the Chili Peppers, but it really did just seem to suit how I feel about this book. Firstly, compared to her first book (Halfway to the Grave) you can really see how Frost has evolved as a writer. She has improved greatly and stayed well clear of all those little annoying things that beginners and plain old bad writers tend to gravitate towards. Secondly, her characters have evolved as well. There is a very obvious change in the main character from book one to two and yet it's still believable. There is a crassness and vulgarness to all of her characters that makes them seem that much more real. They swear, at themselves and at each other. They think and act like real people. I always feel sort of silly saying this about characters who are vampires or ghouls or whatever, but they didn't seem contrived. Some conversations sounded very much like some I've had with my best friend. It made it that much more believable. Thirdly, there are parts of this book you will want to be alone with. That and you'll want to go out and find yourself a vampire lover. I know I want one! The romance is sexellent. A word I reserve for just such description as nothing else will do it justice. I'm surprised this book didn't burst into flames the moment it was printed, it's just that hot.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Let the Hunt Begin! This novel was better than the first. Cat and Bones by the end of the first novel is separated due to Cat getting her new job and protecting Bones. I find this book one of my favorites in the series. In the first little bit you read about Cats new job and her team but Bones will hunt her down and he will find her. Remember he promised this in Halfway to the Grave…and when he does find her there will be trouble to pay.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not Bad This book starts out with Cat and Bones still seperated. It has been 4 year since they have last seen each other and Cat is now heading up her own vampire hunter team. Cat has been busy killing bad vampires and word has gotten out about the famous red reaper (she is called that because of her hair colour). Cat get sent out on a mission to kill a master vampir who has killed two humans. When Cat gets there she finds out that the vampire is Ian, the vamp who created Bones. Out of her love forBones Cat cannot kill Ian and lets him go. Only problem is that now Ian is infatuated with her, and will do anything to get her. Through all this Bones hears about where Cat is staying and comes to find her. Their relationship picks right back up where it left. This was a good follow up to Halfway to the Grave. I was happy to see Cat and Bones back together and i enjoyed the other members of Cats team, Cooper, Tate, David and Juan.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Purrrrre, Catnip! Wow, what a wild ride this installment of the Night Huntress series turned out to be. More characters, more gore, more heated exchanges between Cat & Bones….just altogether more!!! Forget the teen angst offered up by the likes of Meyers in favor of the totally adult romance put forth by Frost. Packed full of action from the first page to the very last, this book is absolutely irresistible & I would wager that you will not be able to pry yourself away from the story once you start.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from You can run, but you can't hide! One foot in the grave is the second book in the night huntress series by jeaniene frost. If possiable it is better than the first! This book takes place five years later and half vampire/half human cat crawfield is now a special agent working for a special government agency. One she is very good at! Cat is doing her usual routine of staking vampires but now she has a team to comand and assist her. Her life has changed so much and everyday she is pained over leaving bones, but in her mind it was the right decision to protect the one she loves. One night on a mission she is introduce to Ian, a master vampire and the one who created bones. Cat is very relieved to find out that bones is still alive, and so she doesn't kill ian(as a favour to bones)and sends him running with info only bones would understand. On the way back home cat almost runs over a stray cat(is it a sign) so she brings the cat to a vet. The owner noah is taken by her and asks her out on a date, but instead cat offers him her best friend denise, they agree to all meet for dinner. When denise finds out she tells cat to go for it since she has never seen a man with cat becides her team. (Yes denise know all about the operation and the existence of vamps) So now cat has a date she really doesn't want to go on but ends up liking noah and continues to see him, even though in her mind and heart no one will ever compare to bones. A couple of weeks go by and Denise tells cat she is getting married, to a guy she has only known for a short time, so wedding plans on! The day of the wedding arrives and cat is a little nervous because there is a presence in the air that she can't quite place, until she walks up the isle and see's bones standing next to the groom! (what the hell!!) Cat doesn't know what to do, run up to him or again run away from him,but this is her best friends special day so she plays it cool. Once the cermony is over, cat hightails in to the washroom and in minutes bones is there looking hot as ever! What to do ,her mother is in the next room and her date noah too, but she can't fight what she feels for him so as days go bye they slowly start to rekindle the passionate love. New problems on the agenda now, someone wants cat dead and knows who she is,so bones signs up for duty so he can protect her! Bones doesn't like the team and their boss don because he is hiding alot of secrets from them so he decides to let the (cat out of the bag) The reason don wanted cat on the job in the first place is because he is related to the vampire who raped her mother all those years ago.(***SPOILER***) Max, cats father is out to get her. So now the chase in on to catch him, so bones gets some of his friends to help with the setup including one of his former flames annette and when cat see's her the claws come out! Annette tries to come between them by telling cat some lovely stories of their past(and boy are they hot!) Can cat cope with bones now that she knows about his past?,will she actually be strong enough to kill the man she hates the most? Has she had enough of her mom and everyone else pushing all her buttons? Well i'm not going to tell you! If you have read the first book then you should know how juicey these books are a I don't want to spoil it for you. I give this book a 4 on the mcsteamy meter because chapter 32 will blow your mind!!! :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wickedly Enjoyable I can't get enough of Cat & Bones!!!! This series is a great addition for all of us adult Twilight Saga fans. Starting this series I thought is was going to be strictly romance; but it turned out not to be your typical boy meets girl, boy looses girl, boy and girl find each other again story. In this series you have action and adventure. One moment your safe and then the next the underworld is after you. You'll eat this series up but hopefully your copy of the book will survive better than my copy of Halfway to the Grave (a page fell out - gast!!). Run, run as fast as you can and buy this series!!!!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Sequel! Frost once again pulls you into Cat's story. This time Cat is in some nasty trouble, and it appears the only way for her to live is to accept the help from her ex. Brilliant read, can't wait to get started on the third book: At Grave's End. :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What a ride! This is the 2nd book in the Night Huntress Novels. This book starts out 4 years later where Catherine Crawford “Cat” left the man she loves Bones (a vampire) to work for the FBI. Cat leads a special unit of people who track and kill vampires. Her skills have grown since and she is more trusted by the FBI. She is known to the supernatural world as “the Red Reaper”. On a mission Cat is about to kill a Master Vampire and realizes he was the one who turned Bones. Because of the love for him she set Ian free. Cat is trying to adjust to a life without Bones the man she loves, she even attempts to date. But at the same time, Cat has some assassination attempts made at her life and realizes that the vamp community have price on her head. Ian the vamp she took pity on wants her as well, he’s a collector for rare things, and Cat being half-breed is very rare. Bones comes back into her life and they work together to stop the assassinations and also work at their relationship. This book was a very good read as book 1. I was unable to stop reading. I love the relationship between Cat and Bones as well as the new characters in this book.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fantastic Follow-up Ok, this series is winning me over big time. The story just keeps getting better and better. and i LOVE Cat and Bones. The humour and action in this book is fantastic, and as a reader you cannot get enough of those two. (FIRST BOOK SPOILERS IN THIS PARAGRAPH/SECTION - TO PROPERLY DO A REVIEW I HAD TO POINT A COUPLE OF THINGS OUT FROM THE FIRST NOVEL - SKIP IF NECESSARY - SORRY) This book is placed 4 years after the first book, one that ended on a more sad note as Cat believed that to protect Bones, herself and her mother, she was forced to relocate, leave Bones, and take on a job as the lead of a new FBI Paranormal Fighting team that essentially allows her to do what she does best - kill the bad vamps. At the beginning of this book, you can tell that the absense of Bones is still weighing heavily on her. She tries not to think of him, but it is obvious that she longs to see him again. She clearly still excels at killing the bad vamps, and although she misses Bones, clearly enjoys her new government role with her fighting team of Don (chief who doesn't actually fight), Tate, Dave, Juan, and Cooper who are a great addition to the story. Obviously for this book to succeed we need to see Bones come back into the fold. And boy does he ever. It seems that Cat is now the target of assassination in the vampire world, and through an event that has her encounter Bones' maker Ian, she actually needs Bones to help her out. Of course both of them are still hardcore in love, and although Cat wants to keep Bones as secret from her team and her mother (who is still as AWFUL as ever) initiatlly/kinda, and attempts to slowly start the relationship back up, it naturally back fires quickly, but in a way where Bones and Cat are finally and openly together, and Bones has been reluctantly brought forth to help out the team (Team's reaction is good). On a side note there is a whole chapter that has quite an amazing and scandelous sex scene - look out for that one!!!! hehe In this novel we learn a lot more about Cat and Bone's past, that proves really interesting for the reader. We also learn more about how vampire lineages work - which is crucial for this particular tale, and Cat's biological/DNA makeup! As mentioned, Cat`s mom is awful, and in my personal opinion, the worst part of this book. Without her, the story would be just as good if not better. The one good part about Cat's mother being in the book, is Bone's way with words with her - absoluteley hilarious!!! Anyways, if you liked the first one, you will really enjoy or dare i say love this one! I'm definitely hooked on the series now!!! Enjoy!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Even better than the first... Forced to work for the government as a federal agent, Cat still gets to kill vampires, but this time she gets to hunt more powerful and more dangerous ones. The previous book leads off to Cat making the ultimate sacrifice and leaving Bones in order to save his life. This time around, she is forced to face her demons, face the love she left five years ago and ask for his help on a particularly tough case. But this time...He won't let her go.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Action Pact, Sexy and Funny! I Loved this book! It was an amazing sequel to the last one. The main characters have gotten funnier, sexier, and we got to know them a lot better in this one. And the new characters were fabulous! I hope Jeaniene Frost keeps on writing, whether it be with this main character(Cat Crawfield) or makes a new one continuing on with the same characters and adding to an incredible series. This book was action pact, sexy and funny. Couldn’t have a better combination.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Reunion Ever! I read the book and was on pins and needles waiting for Kat and Bones reunion. Found myself yelling at the book. But when it happeed it was very hot. A great sequel to Halfway To The Grave. I will say however the ending was kind of flat in this one, but it was still a great read. I just wish I didn't have to wait for the next book in the series to come out. Can't wait to see what will happen now that certain secrets are out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Another Hit! I'm always a little nervous when I read a sequel to a book that I loved because I'm afraid I will be disappointed. But that sure wasn't the case with this book!! If anything it was BETTER then the first. Anyone who likes their paranormal romance to pack a serious punch HAS to check this author out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simply Stunning Once again I fell in love with Cat and Bones. THe two characters blend so well together and the plot moved at a fair pace. The much anticipated release of this book (well at least for me) was well worth the wait. A perefect reunion between Cat and Bones and the new characters that have been added only add to the overall plot.
