Otto of the Silver Hand is a children's novel by Howard Pyle. The story is set in the Dark Ages and revolves around Otto, Baron Conrad’s son. His life began with a great misfortune - his mother died on labour, when she saw her husband’s battle wounds. She made Conrad promise to raise their son in monastery. But when Otto reached the age of eleven, his father took him back to his castle. A now young boy had to learn the ways of German lords and barons, for one he will inherit the title and land of his father.
