One of the reasons Out of the Ashes was written was to cancel any misconceptions that the Bible is irrelevant in our day. Women in biblical times were not that different from us today; they had to deal with some of the same issues women face today. This book gives us a glimpse into the personal and private lives of a few of these biblical women. We see their passion, their pride, their pain, and the how God brought them through the ashes of loss to triumph and purpose.

Every abuse that you keep secret maintains its power over you. First you suffer from the initial effect of the abuse and then from the pain it perpetuates, by keeping it hidden. In Out of the Ashes, we take the stories of these ancient women out of the pages of the Bible and bring them to life, so that today’s woman can identify with them and not feel alone and abandoned in her own situation. These Biblical women expose their abuses to us and encourage us through their stories by revealing that there is hope and a future for us. It shows the high value that God places on people and reassures that there is no situation that is beyond His power to redeem and to turn into one of purpose.

All that we need to do is to take courage like these women and to speak up and receive the help that we so desperately need.
It is God who said “I know the plans I have for you, plans to give you a future and a hope” (Jeremiah 29:11), and He meant just that. He sent his Son Jesus in a time and in a culture when women were classed at the same level as dogs, and He gave them their identity and dignity back, restoring them to their rightful place in the kingdom of God; a place of wholeness and purpose. This story is my story, it is your story.
