Rated 5 out of 5 by from A fun mystery indeed! Starring the quirky, lovable Serena that readers have come to know and love in the first two "Serena Jones Mysteries", the latest novel from Sandra Orchard is a fun mystery that I greatly enjoyed! Filled with plenty of false leads and unexpected twists, these are the kinds of mysteries I love to devour - and I did so, in one sitting! Not only is Serena once again the star, but her Aunt Martha once again adds some zany hilarity as she disregards convention and does what needs to be done. The addition of several secondary characters had me guessing about 'who done it', and I enjoyed the journey of figuring out the truth of what occurred. Orchard has done a great job at fleshing out these characters, not only in this book, but throughout the series. And, of course, readers will finally get to find out who Serena ultimately falls for, with both her fellow FBI agent Tanner and her neighbour/building supervisor Nate flying to her side to support her through her mad capers around Martha's Vineyard. The romance is nothing too gushy (for us male readers) and quite honestly adds much to the story. By the middle of the book, I knew I was in for a long night because there was no way I was going to be walking away from the novel. The final chapters flew by in a frenzy of sleuthing by Sandra's side, and I turned the final pages of the book with only one regret - that I had finished the final book in the series. Humour, mystery, fabulous characters and a great plot - honestly, what more could you ask for? I am so proud to be able to have a fellow Canadian like Sandra penning such great books! I was thoroughly entertained by "Over Maya Dead Body", and I award it a very solid rating of 4.5 stars out of 5. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Deadly Vacation FBI Special Agent Serena Jones is finally getting a well-deserved vacation on Martha’s Vineyard to attend a family engagement celebration. However, it soon turns deadly when a body is found too close to home. Serena quickly becomes involved in the investigation. Things get even more interesting when the two men vying for her attention show up and become entangled in the mess as well. Just who is being targeted? Serena’s feelings are torn between the two men. Just who will she pick in the end and is her life in danger the closer she gets to solving the case? Sandra Orchard has done it again with this cat and mouse cozy mystery. Over Maya Dead Body captures you from the beginning and holds you till the very end. This whodunit will keep you guessing like it did me. Just when you think you have it figured out, things take a different turn. Love that! Once again the characters came alive for me. I especially love Aunt Martha and Harold the cat. He even got to come on the vacation. Love it! Each character is well-rounded and jumps off the page to the reader. Well done. Vivid imagery throughout helps the reader picture everything on Martha’s Vineyard. It was clear the author did their homework when writing this novel. I won’t spoil the ending on whether or not Serena went with Team Nate or Team Tanner, but the author keeps you guessing right till the very end. Both were great choices, but one had to win, right?! The plot was well written and kept you turning the pages. Just when you thought it was going one way, the author surprised you by changing direction. I’m sad to see this series end as it’s been a fun ride! I give Over Maya Dead Body five sea shells. It’s one vacation you’ll want to take. *I received this book from the publisher in exchange for my honest review.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Book, but Abrupt Ending to Series... 4.5 stars Heading out for a wedding of a family friend, Serena Jones and her family discover the friend dead. Believing foul play in action, Serena races to catch a possible antiquities smuggler/murderer before he/her silences Serena and others. There is much to like in this 3rd Serena Jones installment. First, though, let me say it is important to read the books in order to get the full effect. The love triangle between Nate, Serena, and Tanner continues and takes some surprising turns. Orchard employed an unusual tactic in this series. She allowed readers to vote which beau Serena should eventually end up with...and had to change her own story to make that happen!(This is why the novel did not receive 5 stars from me- it did not seem as balanced between rivals as usual.) What an exhausting vacation Serena has! She deals with death and pursuing possible murderers. She fends off her matchmaking mother and aunt. Both Tanner and Nate come to help, yet entangle her confused heart. Plus Aunt Martha brings extra excitement, duplicity, and her own love triangle. Great book, yet I felt like the series was shut down abruptly. Sad it could only be three books. So much more action could happen.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I Wish It Wasn't Over! (Guest Review by Hayley) I didn’t know for certain if the day would ever come.  But it has!  I have finally just finished reading the final installment of the “Serena Jones Mystery” series.  It was another breathless adventure full of questions waiting to be answered and untold dangers.  But more than that, readers will at last find the answer to the biggest mystery of the series:  Tanner or Nate? Sandra Orchard has once again penned a can’t-put-it-down mystery novel, made even better by humor that even a Royal Guardsman would have to crack a smile at.  I could not help but laugh out loud at many of the lines found in “Over Maya Dead Body”, and for those of you who have already read the book, I’m sure you will agree with me when I mention Serena’s revelation about the plant found in her apartment? Obviously, a huge part of the storyline in “Over Maya Dead Body” is Serena’s choice over her two possible romantic interests.  With that fact does come a bit of inappropriateness scattered throughout… perhaps to a slightly larger degree than we’ve seen in the previous two books.  Still, nothing is so terrible that I would discourage you from reading this book.  It’s redeeming qualities far outshine it’s faults. So now on to the big question… WHO did Serena choose?!  Well, are you sure you want me to tell you?  Alright then, she chose… nope, can’t do it!  You will simply have to read the book and find out for yourself.  But I will say this: she chose right.  I just wish that this wasn’t yet goodbye.  If only we could read more about Serena, Aunt Martha, Tanner, Nate and the rest of the quirky clan from Zoe to Malgucci - but I suppose all good things must come to an end… even the “Serena Jones Mystery” series. I received this book courtesy of Revell Books, in participation with the Revell Reads Blog Tour for “Over Maya Dead Body”.  All opinions expressed in this review are my own.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Martha's Vineyard Just finished the third book in this series, and it sure didn’t disappoint, and can be read by its self, but you don’t want to miss the other two! Of course, bodies seem to follow our FBI agent Serena around, and going to Martha’s Vineyard is not exception for her, and this is sad for her family at the same time. You will be changing your mind as to who is involved from page to page, and just when you think you know for sure, guess what! There is a lot of action too, firebombs, break line cuts, gunshots, etc., better duck. Our girl ends up with both of the guys who have their eye on her, they come to be of help, but will she ever choose just one? They actually both sound perfect! Of course, darling Aunt Martha is here, and who does she not know? She is one amazing woman, and we are about to learn more about her, and she seems to have access to all kinds of help. I adored the epilogue at the end of the book, and maybe there will be another novel in the offing, we can hope! I received this book through Revell Publishing Book Bloggers Program, and was not required to give a positive review.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Campy and quirky and soooooo much fun! Campy and quirky and sooooooo much fun. The author's devious plotting leads Serena and company on a merry chase around Martha's Vineyard as they work on solving a very personal murder mystery. Madcap mayhem guaranteed! Aunt Martha is in her element and even Harold the Cat gets to pack his bag and cone holidaying. The mystery is brilliant. I think I suspected nearly every secondary character at some point in my read. And I was all too gullible in places, willing to be reeled in by multiple red herrings. I might just have to turn in my armchair sleuth credentials after finishing this novel! This is the third and final book in the Serena Jones Mystery series and, honestly, I think it is best to read these books in order. That's because of the developing romantic entanglements that carry over from one book to the next. And, hallelujah, we finally find out who Serena will spend her happily ever after with! In fact the author did something rather outrageous and totally intriguing -- she let readers vote for who Serena would choose as her Mr. Right. Fans quickly divided into teams -- Nate vs Tanner -- and all bets were off. Even Sandra Orchard didn't know what the romance outcome would be as she was writing this third book. Talk about gutsy. But she pulls it off brilliantly. I have to admit to falling hard for both heroes -- wisecracking FBI agent Tanner and there's-more-than-meets-the-eye neighbour Nate. My heart feels rather pummeled now that I've watched it all play out to a stunning conclusion. And I loved every minute even though I'm not a fan of love triangles as a rule. Clever from the unique cover art to the tongue-in-cheek title to the compelling story within. I loved this book so much that I savored it over a period of three days! (I usually read a book in a day or day and a half.) But I didn't want this one to end even though I wanted to know how everything turned out. So I doled out my reading time in short installments and then giddily created my own spin offs scene by scene before picking up with the story once again. Reading Over Maya Dead Body was such a blast! I'll admit to feeling a bit melancholy now that it's all over. Book provided courtesy of the author and Revell Publishing

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fast-paced and fun This is a fast-paced mystery filled with banter, twists and turns, and pages that practically turn themselves. Aunt Martha is a hoot as she tries to help with the investigation. The evidence suggests that family friend, "Uncle Jack," fell, but what happens next convinces Serena otherwise. Unless she’s too obsessed by her job and these incidents are truly accidents like the local police say. Serena, her parents, and her incorrigible Aunt Martha are joined by Nate (Serena’s apartment superintendent, who’s more than he seems) and Tanner (her FBI boss) to help untangle the clues. Aunt Martha brings a few of her contacts into play, as well. It looks like Jack was killed to keep him from talking about an antiquities smuggling ring. Then, there’s his missing nephew. And rumours of drugs. In the middle of trying to solve the mystery, Serena can’t stop comparing her feelings for Nate and Tanner and wondering how she can be attracted to them both. Many fans of the series have already voted on which guy Serena will choose, and it’s been a source of some contention. They’re both fine men, and my one hesitation about reading this book was that I didn’t want to see either of them sad at the end. Author Sandra Orchard has that covered, though, with an epilogue that forecasts happiness in the future for the man who lost out. Over Maya Dead Body is book 3 in the Serena Jones Mystery series. I heartily recommend starting with book 1, A Fool and His Monet, and reading all three books. [Review copy provided by the publisher.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Happy Ever After with a twist A great wrap up to the trilogy of Serena Jones FBI agent in the Art Recovery Unit. A vacation to Martha's Vineyard to celebrate a friend's engagement finds Serena in the middle of two murders and two suitors rushing to her assistance. The mysterious Nate and the work boss/partner Tanner can't seen to get Serena to figure out their feeling for her much less make a decision about a romantic entanglement. Aunt Martha steals the show and I would love to see a series of Aunt Martha flashbacks to her younger days. I know it might spoil this series somewhat but at the same time those who have read Serena Jones will love it and those who haven't yet will have the advantage of advanced knowledge about Aunt Martha that they'll be waiting to see revealed. The final chapter wraps up this happy ever after series. Join a FB group Sandra Orchard has for those who have read the series to discuss Tanner vs Nate further too. Definitely a fun cosy read FREE of violence, sex and foul language.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Third in a Very Entertaining Series What cozy mystery would be without its eccentric, little old lady, amateur sleuth? The Serena Jones mystery series has its in the form of Aunt Martha, Serena’s aunt. While Serena is an FBI special agent in the art crimes division, her aunt becomes actively involved in all of her cases. Not only is she involved in solving crime, she is actively involved as Serena’s matchmaker as well. In this third installment of the Serena Jones series, Serena is once again torn between putting aside romantic ideas and her interest in both her partner, Tanner, and her apartment superintendent, Nate, who has many and varied talents. I must admit to mentally yelling at her about halfway through this book, “Just choose already!” Serena had thought that a short vacation at Martha’s Vineyard with her aunt and parents would be a relaxing time away. When no one showed up to pick them up from the Ferry’s dock, the family took a taxi to the home of Serena’s father’s best friend whose engagement party they had come to attend only to find that he had died in a suspicious fall. Was it an accident? Was it related to a call he had placed to the FBI over antiquities smuggling, or was it related to the changes he was making to his will? Serena dove into solving the mystery as a way of dealing with her grief. Through unexpected circumstances, both Tanner and Nate ended up joining Serena and her investigation, both vying for her attention when she most needed to focus on the case at hand, and then there is always the “helpful” Aunt Martha. If you are looking for a lighthearted summer read, you have found your book! Over Maya Dead Body is a great travel read. I finished it at home in two days. I thank NetGalley and Revell Publishing for providing me a copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion. I received no monetary compensation.
