Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great I didn't know what to expect before trying Pathfinder. I love it and I'm hooked. It's a great game to play with the same people regularly so that you can develop and strengthen your characters evenly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Introduction to the RPG for beginners Beginners Box is a well made product all around.Paizo didnt spare expensive. The focus is rightly on the 4 core classes: Fighter,Mage,Rogue and Priest. It takes you step by step in creating a player character. The combat rules highlight the most crucial rules. The transition book is a nice addition, guiding new players into their journey beyond 5th level and into the Core Rulebook.I would really suggest players new to roleplaying and those not familiar with the Pathfinder system to get their feet wet first in this boxed set.Jumping into the Core book and the supplementary books can be overwhelming. For a new GM you will find the GM's guide helpful in designing your first Adventures and Campaign. The same goes for new or inexperienced GMs.Start with this set first and then move to the Core book. This boxed set gives players and GM's enough to play the game without drowning them in details. The dice are okay. You can get higher quality dice, but you don't really need them. The Character and Monster pawns give a nice 2 dimensional flat stand effect.More than enough to start off.Don't lose the bases! You get enough detail about each character class, without the full load of the Core book.Try playing each class,to get a feel for what suits you.Be advised that the Priest is a much more complex class, especially as fully detailed in the Core book. There are many more classes in the game, but they all are derived in some form from the 4 core classes.Simpler is often better. If you don't feel sure about your ability to play a class:start with Fighter. For new GMs start with small one off adventures(players really appreciate the ones you design) and gradually move to linked adventures and then a full campaign.Sandpoint is a good starter base for the party. In later adventures you may want to expand it or create your own.The Wilderness area around can be fleshed out as needed. This is a well made and well thought out product that I would really recommend to novice or inexperienced players and GMs.Even experienced gamers can find this a useful preview to the Pathfinder system.
