Pathways to Pregnancy is a collection of personal and powerful stories of real women who have overcome infertility, shared by a clinician who has also experienced the pain and joy of the fertility journey first-hand. An acupuncturist and practitioner of Traditional Chinese Medicine, author Mary Wong explains the central principles of a wide range of Western and Eastern fertility treatments, while describing what treatment really feels like through the candid accounts of her patients. Inspiring and instructional, the book shows women that they are not alone, and that there are many ways in which they can take charge of their own fertility and improve their chances of conceiving and delivering a healthy baby.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Such a wonderful and enlightening read! As a women in her 20's, it was great to learn more about fertility so I know all my options when the time comes to start a family. I especially enjoyed the chapter busting common myths regarding egg freezing as it is not as straight forward as people think. It is also lovely to know if something were to go wrong when trying to conceive, I'm not alone in the struggle. Thank you Mary for sharing your wisdom and personal story.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Lonelier for Reading This I thought that this book would help ease some of the loneliness and isolation I've felt in my infertility, and it did the exact opposite. I expected, as the description says, to read candid real-life stories to feel less alone in what I am experiencing. Instead I read repetitive chapter after chapter telling me to eat organic, go to lots of yoga classes/exercise, get acupuncture every single week and take herbs to relax and make for a hospitable body and mind. Only then will I have a "miracle baby". I found the "stories" really impersonal aside from the author's own, as the details were skimmed over every time with the focus always being what Traditional Chinese Medicine treatment they received instead. To summarize: find the finances to eat organic, take yoga classes multiple times a week, afford weekly acupuncture on top of all of the treatments you are paying for with your specialist, and then you will have a "miracle baby". And if you can't afford all of these things... well..You'll feel like I did after reading this book.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Yes yes yes, this book is amazing! Mary is the real deal and her book speaks volumes to the power of our choices and setting up our environment, inside and out, to welcome a baby. I have also been on the path of struggling with fertility due to PCOS and depended my understanding of extreme self-care, overall health (it's not about doing it 100% perfect) and what it means to surrender. I say it all the time...we are not defined by our circumstances or diagnoses and there is no one way. Mary your book resonates with me and is exactly why you were a great practitioner for me on my fertility journey. Thank you!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from FINALLY A BOOK AND WRITER WHO REALLY GETS THE IMPACT OF INFERTILITY!!! There's nothing like hearing it from the horse's mouth about the experience of "infertility" and the incredible shock and toll that this takes on a woman and man and couples. Mary is a skilful and compassionate guide sharing the most important message that any woman or couple needs to hear and to recontextual this seeming "disease" to one of a "journey". So needed! I highly recommend this as a MUST READ for Every Person who Wants/ Hopes/or is considering having children now or whenever in the future! So much important information on every page! Thanks Mary for writing this book! It is going to help so many people!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to read and very helpful Mary’s warm and balanced approach simply wraps you in a blanket of support and caring. Whether conceiving naturally or with extensive medical help, her insights share the wisdom of thousands of years of Traditional Chinese Medicine and save the reader both time and effort. Her honesty in sharing her own pathway to fertility is deeply inspiring. As a former Registered Midwife, I know how important it is to have a careprovider who understands the emotional roller coaster that fertility struggles entail. Pathways to Pregnancy is a tonic for the soul, a soothing broth for the bones and searchlight of hope for the heart.
