Rated 5 out of 5 by from My First Brontë I was completely unfamiliar with the story of Jane Eyre and found it immediately captivating from the first chapter. Although the narrative does slow down a bit and tends to be a little preachy during her years at Lowood, it is a wonderful book overall. It's fascinating how relatable Jane's inner monologue is 150+ years later, and to see that people in the Victorian ages were just as anxious and complicated as we are today. Also, these Penguin English Library versions are adorably designed and dangerously collectable.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great read - not a light one though! As an avid Austen fan it took me a little while to start reading Bronte but I'm glad I did! I daresay the writing is actually a little easier to sift through and she writes a very compelling and intensely detailed story. Definitely a must-add to your classics shelf.
