Rated 5 out of 5 by from One of my favorites. The first time I read this book I couldn't put it down. This series has become one of my all time favorite reads but also but one of most read. I applaude the author for such an emotional story that left me wanting more.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Surprisingly great read Brittany is your typical high school queen bee on the outside. A blonde blue-eyed, popular cheerleader who lives on the wealthy side of town, but that’s as much as appearances go because what people don’t know is that she also helps her sister cope with her disabilities. Then there’s Alex, who is in a gang, rides a motorcycle, protects his little brothers and mother from harm and also ditches class every now and then. He lives on the poorer side of the town. None of that seems to matter until a new year arrives and in chemistry class Brittany and Alex are assigned seats beside each other making them partners. Slowly but surely they start to fall in love. With so many differences between them, will their love survive high school? Now I’m not one to read YA contemporary romance novels I enjoy paranormal romances and fantasy love triangles, but this one was a rather surprisingly great read. The premise of the story isn’t anything new, rich spoiled girl falls for the bad boy from the wrong side of the tracks. But this one was cute! Surprisingly witty and fun dialogues between the two main characters made it seem more realistic then love at first sight.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect chemistry A interesting take on a story that many will say has been done before. I honestly could not put the book down, the anticipation of what was going to happen kept me reading until the very end. You will absolutely love getting to know each character and getting to know the Fuentes brothers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Definitely Perfect Perfect Chemistry is an amazing book. The story grabs you from the start, and although you might think it's just your typical love story about a poor boy and a rich girl who fall in love, you're wrong. Its so much more then that. This book has so much truth to it, about everything; friendships, family life, dating, and overall, life. This truly was a perfect book, with characters who, yes, made mistakes, and could be a bit whiny, but I love a good book with characters that you can relate to, and Perfect Chemistry is one of those books. I felt that the secondary characters were definitely well-developed, along with the leads. I especially loved Paco and Alex's mom. Alex is an amazing character who just despreately wants to protect his family and wants to be something more. He's your badboy who has a emotional side, which, I have to say, I absolutely love. Even though I didn't love him from the start, by the end, I fell in love with him, no doubt about it. He may seem arogant, or full of himself, but hes real. That might sound weird and creepy, but its true. I find that I can only read books with real and relatable characters that I can picture in the real world. This was, 100%, one of those books. Brittany was also deep and had more to her then it seemed. Her family life was... Well, sad. But, for the book, it definitely fitted what Elkeles was trying to do: make Brittany a real character with normal issues while not pushing it over the top. I felt that Brittany was confusing at times, but I thiught that it onky added to her character, the perfect, confused teenage girl. The writing was fabolous. There were times that I laughed and smiled, and times that I cried, both from sadness, but also happiness. I certanly loved this book, and will definitely be reading it again. Elkeles did a fanstatic job of keeping this book pretty short, but long enough to make an impqct on readers and to make the story make sense, but not too long s it seems dragged out and boring. I could not put the book down, and was so mad when I had to. The ending was incredible, and it had everything I love in a romance novel. But this story was deeper, and more real. We saw life through two cmpletley different, but yet also the same, people, who I connected with very well. When reading this book, we get into the minds of Alex and Brittany, and feel all that they feel. I am excited to read the other two books in this series, and I love the fact that they're about Alex's brothers. Overall, Perfect Chemistry is... Perfect.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great YA read I admit it: I have a type. I like bad boys with kind hearts. Stories that feature these guys (and I’ve read a lot of them) fill in those ticky boxes faster than you can say smoldering eyes and tattoos. You’d think by now I’d be over it, but clearly not. I devoured Simone Elkeles YA novel Perfect Chemistry in one sitting. Brittany Ellis is eighteen and just beginning her senior year of high school in a Chicago suburb. She’s pretty and popular, captain of the cheerleading team, dating the hunky high school quarterback. She lives in a huge house on the right side of town. "Everyone knows I’m perfect. My life is perfect. My clothes are perfect. Even my family is perfect. And although it’s a complete lie, I’ve worked my butt off to keep up the appearance that I have it all. The truth, if it were to come out, would destroy my entire picture-perfect image." Alejandro “Alex” Fuentes is also eighteen and also in his senior year, but his life is vastly different from Brittany’s. For one thing, he comes from the wrong side of the tracks. For another, he’s a gang banger. "Senior year. I should be proud I’ll be the first family member in the Fuentes household to graduate high school. But after graduation, real life will start. College is just a dream. Senior year for me is like a retirement party for a sixty-five-year-old. You know you can do more, but everyone expects you to quit." The interesting thing about both of these characters is that what the reader sees on the surface is only part of their story. The alternating first person points of view allows us a glimpse into lives which are much more than what they initially appear. Brittany and Alex would have no reason to ever interact. In fact on the first morning of school, Brittany’s reaction at almost hitting Alex while trying to nab a parking spot pretty much says it all: "Alex takes a step toward my car. My instincts tell me to abandon my car and flee, as if I was stuck on railroad tracks with a train heading straight for me…." But Brittany is no shrinking violet and when, later that day, she’s paired with Alex for a year-long chemistry project, she gives as good as she gets. So, naturally, sparks fly. Perfect Chemistry is a love story, true, but it is also a story about making choices, standing up for what you believe in, and breaking down those stereotypes which often hold us prisoner. Brittany and Alex are well-written characters, believable and relateable. I really wanted things to work out for them. Back in the 70s there was a movie very similar to this book. It’s cheesy now because frankly, blue-eyed Robby Benson was never going to make a very convincing “Chicano”. Still, it has similar themes. Rated 4 out of 5 by from More than just a typical forbidden love story! Brittany Ellis and Alex Fuentes are from two completely different worlds. She’s a blonde cheerleader with the seemingly perfect life and he’s a bad boy who’s part of a Latino gang. They’re the most unlikely of pairs but when they’re forced to be lab partners in their chemistry class, the sparks start flying – whether they want to admit it or not. In a way, the story of Brittany and Alex and their forbidden love is not a new one. There have been countless stories told where two people who hate each other yet find their undeniable attraction hard to ignore. What makes this book different is Elkeles’ style in her storytelling. Switching back and forth between the POV of Alex and Brittany, she manages to keep the narrative moving while telling both sides of the story. She successfully captures two very distinct voices in Alex & Brittany, bringing the reader into the facade of a perfect life with Brittany’s family and the constant terror of walking in Alex’s shoes. The constant use of Mexican slang really drove home the difference between these two worlds, and to really set the environments apart from chapter to chapter. What set this book apart for me was that I genuinely had no idea how the story was going to end. Often with romance stories, you can see where it’s headed and can figure out the ending, but with hiccups and plot points along the way, it kept me speculating on whether there actually would be a happy ending or not. Without letting on which ending I was hoping for, I admittedly did give a big ol’ eye roll to the epilogue. I understood the point of it, but to me it painted an otherwise gritty romance with a taste of cheese. This, and other reviews can be found on my blog JustALilLost.com

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love, Love, Loved! I honestly didn't have very high expectations for this book. I had a feeling i would like it, and for 11 bucks at Chapters, hey why not!? I started this book actually quite enjoying it and the further I got the more dramatic it got, and the more I liked it. I loved many of the characters and I think the plot was just perfect, and set at a great even pace. I was never bored while reading this book, and I definitely recommend it. Cannot wait to read the next book in the series 'Rules Of Attraction'. I can already say, I'm a fan of Simone Elkeles. Great job!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfectly Awesome :) My expectations for this book were very low. I really wasn't expecting to like this book, but i was so pleasantly surprised! I REALLY liked this book! it was a beautify touching story about how love is the biggest distraction in life. I gave this book 5/5 stars. I typically don't read books like this but i am so glad that i did! the ending of the book will for sure put a smile on you face :)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Beautiful Love Story This book was sexy, cute and dramatic. But to be honest, I thought it was a little cliché. I mean, we start off with the captain of the cheerleading squad dating the captain of the football team... not so original. Then, it gets crazy. Stuff I never expected out of this book happened that was just insane... Overall, the beginning of the book was dry, cliché and dull, but the rest was AMAZING. I was hoping for a more detailed epilogue, but it was still very good !

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing. So Perfect Chemistry, it was a really good book. I didn't think that i'd be that into it but i was. My best friend [who never reads] reccommended it to me, and she was like "you've got to read it! The guys are sooo ahhh!!". So i read it and fell in love with the book. I'd have to say that Alex is my favorite, and i really like it. Some may think that it was cliche but i loved it, and it was a great read. I definatly recccomend it to anyone, and think ya'll shoudl read it. I loved that element of familia that Elkeles put into it , and loved the Spanish/English mixtures. The characters were put into real life situations like gangs, "being perfect" pressures, and prejudice-ness, and so forth. I highly reccommend this, and thought that it was a great introduction to the Fuentes familia, and i couldn't wait to read the next one RULES OF ATTRACTION. I finished PERFECT CHEMISTRY within 5 days. And devoured RULES OF ATTRATION in 6 days. And finished the last one CHAIN REACTION in about 10 days, but that's only because i've been busy with school. So, go out and but them they're amazing chicas! ;)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from http://frosybookreviews.blogspot.com/2011/01/perfect-chemistry-book-review.html I loved Perfect chemistry. It was so sweet! I don't really read YA contemporary romance since most of them are predictable but this one almost wasn't it. And what I mean about that? Well the ending. The author leads the story to an end most romance stories have but then something happens and you're not so sure. Even though it was a YA book there was a sex scene in it and the author managed to describe it very well without being graphic at all. It was really a sweet scene and to my surprise it was from Alex's point of view. The book changes between Alex's POV and Brittany's POV. This way we get to know both of them how they feel and think. I loved Alex. Such a nice guy even though he acted as a touch guy. Even though he is a gang member he had never actually done something pretty bad. And he tries to stay clean as possible. The only reason he's in it is to protect his family. Brittany is you normal girl that tries to act perfect. Her life though isn't perfect as it looks like. It's better than Alex's but still, her family has big problems. You get to see that no matter how much money you have, money can't buy happiness. I love how this couple completed each other. They are so different and similar at the same time. The writing was refreshing and I liked the voice of Alex the most. It's hard to capture a boy's voice when the author is woman but she managed well. Overall I loved it. I had heard so much good things about this book that my expectations were high when I grabbed it and it didn't disappoint. The only thing I didn't like and it's the reason why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is the ending. Not the final chapter but the conclusion in general. After a big event that changes both Alec and Brittany, the book felt rushed. I wish she could have taken it more slowly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Definitely on my 'favourite series' shelf Everything about this series is fantastic. Honestly, it is some of the best stuff I have come across in a while. It manages to be romantic while still being action-packed and it completely sucks you in while still seeming like it could be real. Yes, after you've read the first one, the other two are slightly predictable, yet each one is still just as good as the others if not better. The ending of each book provides exactly the right amount of closure while still leaving lots of room for you to imagine things the way you want them to be. The 'steaminess' of these books was also quite satisfactory ; it wasn't dumbed down but it wasn't anything uncomfortably explicit either. The only real downsides to these books is that there aren't more of them and that real life romances never play out the way these do.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from incredible - much, much better than it looks A modern Romeo & Juliet or Westside Story. I totally did not expect to love this book as much as I did. I found it surprisingly gritty and intense and sexy and moving, and could not stop thinking about it. I've re-read it several times. I highly, highly recommend it. How Simone Elkeles managed to make me fall in love with a fictional teenage gang member, I'll never know. But alas, Alex Fuentes has my heart. There are two similar follow-up volumes (Rules of Attraction and Chain Reaction), each about characters tied to the original story.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from No Chemistry. This one wasn't bad. It definitely had it's moments. I liked the whole gang and youth concept, it was something that really drew me to the book. I wish it was incorporated more and the "gang life" was explored more. I felt like it was just something on the back burner rather than the main focus. I guess I just wish it was more badass...it could have been taken a lot further. Overall the story ended up being predictable, which isn't always bad, but in this case it went from exciting and interesting to a predictable and boring ending. I wasn't feeling the chemistry. Random Thoughts: -I hate when characters are placed on the cover. It kills it. -The spanish was annoying. It didn't add anything to the story...it only confuses the idiots like me who don't even know the simple pharses.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Alex Fuentes is hot. And the rest was just awesomeness Whoa.....my blood was rising on this one, for more reasons than one. Grab this one and sit down for a couple of hours and enjoy the ride. Once you pick it up you will not want to put it down. I picked this up expecting it to be great...and it was. Elkeles sure knows how to hit one out of the park. This book was romantic, thrilling, and made me worry all at the same time. This books is not something I would recommend for people ages 9-17 as it says. More like 14-??? The content of this is not for young ones but for those who are older, who understand the meaning of a gang member and all the other sexual content mentioned in this book, and can actual appreciate its beauty. I didn't think Alex would be such a tough guy even though I knew he was in a gang, but there is no way Elkeles could step away around the fact that gang members and people who live that life are bada$$. There was a feeling of Romeo and Juliet in this novel but Romeo was not such a wimp and neither was Juliet. There was also a little feeling of Danny and Sandy from Grease in this novel which just made it even better. All and All I have already ordered the second book Rules of Attraction and plan on reading the third one as soon as it comes out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great! This book is amazing. It reminds me of 'The Outsiders'/ Romeo and Juliet. Its about a bad boy, and a good girl. This book is all about love, family and keeping there perfect image. Its nice because its from two peoples point of view. One chapter will be Brittany's point of view, while the next will be Alex's. I can't wait to read Rules of Attraction.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Well done (The Chapters-Indigo website has been deleting my ratings so: I gave this book 4 out of 5 stars/leaves.) This was a well written novel for teenagers and young adults, detailing the love story between two adolescents from very different backgrounds. In general, the author does a good job of making one care about these two characters, as well as making us understand how and why they have so much in common despite coming from such different worlds. In caring about them, the reader comes to care about what happens to them. In general, a touching and sweet story which I would recommend for older adolescents and young adults. Similar recommended titles (given here because of the weird problems I've been having with the Chapters/Indigo website and which they STILL haven't fixed): -The Disreputable History of Frankie Landau-Banks, by E. Lockhart -Twilight, by Stephenie Meyer -The Hunger Games, by Suzanne Collins

Rated 5 out of 5 by from i Couldn't put it down! This book was so great, i finished it in one day. The story is simple; a Poor gang member Falls in love with the rich popular girl. There is no supernatural of some sort, but boy, was it good. Alex (The main character) is muy sexy. I'm kinda sad that it's only a one book series, but there is another book Called Rules of Attraction that is kind of a follow of this book, as it's about alex's brother's story. I would deffinately read this book twice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Soo good! I read this book in one night it's such a page turner, you'll never want to put it down. It's the type of romance book that will give you butterflies. It's about two totally different people who really do have "perfect chemistry." i highly recommend you read this book.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Didn't see that coming Perfect Chemistry is about Brittany and Alex, two seniors in highschool who grew up on opposite sides of the track, to say the least. Brittany is a ruch, white girl who seems to have it all; looks, body, money (well her parents do) and intelligence. She's dating Colin, they are known as the golden couple. Alex is the opposite of Colin. He's intelligent and good looking, but hispanic and poor. Safe to say when Brittany and Alex get paired up in chemistry, neither is thrilled. But the chemistry between them doesn't only have to do with science. I really enjoyed this novel, more than I thought I would to be honest. The ending was a total surprise though, i'm sure some readers will see it coming, but I didn't. It seemed a bit far fetched, but stil good. I'd recommend the book to anyone.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Mozarella? From what I already knew about this book I was expecting it to be super cheesy. But it escaped, uncheesed. Alex Fuentes is the average gang guy from all the movies. He is in an unfortunate situation, is smart, good looking and looks out for his family blah blah blah. And Brittany is the cheer leading blond. She has the perfect life on the outside but on the inside she is a meltdown waiting to happen (Hmm...where have I seen that before?) but her parents' rocky relationship isn't the only misplaced hair on her perfect coiffure. She also has a mentally disabled sister, Shelly. So at least you know there is some character depth. And a bonus, every chapter has a different point of view, it goes back and forth from Brittany to Alex. Once these two cross paths their lives change forever. Alex gets Brittany to stand up to her parents and Brittany, gets Alex to reevaluate his situation in the gang. Alex is a smart guy who could really do a lot with his life but he is tied down to where he is by his gang. But everything in the book changes once they fall in love. Their love is actually kind of sincere, they have...passion! And you can't help but love Alex. Anyways, this book isn't too bad. I liked it. It was a cute romance with a little twist at the end and a lot of comedic relief. The second book comes out next year if I am not mistaken. Although the plot was cliche, the writing was not. Go on and read the book, it has a moody seal of approovement! DId you find this review to be helpful? If so then visit www.themoodyteenager.blogspot.com for more!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 3 Words - A-MAZ-ING This book has everything a should have. Romance, mystery, suspense. EVERYTHING! It's witty and fun without overdoing the life of a gang member. Basically in the book and the cheerleader captain falls of the biggest gangster in the school and they're trying to figure out how to make they're love work. While Alex is trying to solve the mystery of his fathers death, Alex and Brittany let down they're guards and let each other and find out, even though they are from completely different worlds, they have more in common with each than with anyone else. As you read on the you see how the characters change and grow up and how strong they actually become so they can be together. It's completely moving and you'll be hooked the minute you start it. I finished it in one night (last night) I could not put it down. Check it out. You definitely will not regret it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great young romance “Perfect Chemistry” is a great teen romance about young star-crossed lovers. Brittany Ellis lives on the north side of Fairfield. She is beautiful, rich, smart and popular. All she wants to be is the perfect image of the cookie cutter type popular girl. Alejandro (aka Alex) Fuentes lives on the south side of Fairfield, where the less fortunate live. They are mostly of Mexican descent. Alex is a strong and stubborn young man caught in a bad world, where he’s part of a gang to protect his mother and his two younger brothers. He seems very hopeless for a better future and just keeps himself thinking logically instead of spending time daydreaming about the future. Alex and Brittany, although they appear to be opposites, they might have the most in common than with any other people in their present lives. They both are putting on a face to the world, showing everyone what they’re expected to be. Fate intervenes with their whole” put on a face and please everyone in the whole world except for themselves” thing. Alex and Brittany get paired together as lab partners in their chemistry which neither are at all pleased about. I should mention separatism between the rich (mostly Caucasian) and the poor (mostly Mexican) is a major problem in their high school. “Birds of a feather flock to together” really applies in this world. Things begin to change when Alex makes an appalling bet with his friends to get something from Brittany. And Miss perfect Brittany begins to have feelings for Alex. Will their friends accept this? That’s the least of their worries. There are bigger matters at hand. Like losing your family, losing your life, losing everything that they’ve known up until now. However, they just can’t help how they feel. With no acceptance, Brittany and Alex start to spend more and more time together , both scared of what lies in the near future. They are forever in conflict wondering how they can ever have a future together. So, this might seem like your usual teenaged romance with the typical problems, but it is so addictive. And it really makes you feel everything a fresh romance should. Alex and Brittany have young, witty and funny dialogue, even if the rest of the writing is simple. It warmed my heart even at the impossible times. I have to admit I’m a sucker for young star crossed lover stories so that’s why I liked this one so much. If you love those, then this is the book for you.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Title! This book grabbed me from the beginning! It's a story of two people from two different world's are paired up in chemistry class who don't like each other, but slowly find out that they have more in common with each other than they thought, and that they are starting to have feelings for each other. They each take great risks to be together but at what cost. I was unable to put this book down, it was unbelievably great!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sweet and Tender-A love story for the ages When Brittany Ellis and Alex Fuentes are partnered for a chemistry project, both seem to think that the world has come to an end. Brittany is the coveted Golden Girl of their high school, with a hot football-playing boyfriend and great friends while Alex is the "loser" gang member who is destined to live a life of regret. Throughout the story, the readers are swept up in a story of love, hate and begin to understand why sometimes the simplest of things require alot of work. This novel was amazing! I loved everything about it! A story of how two different worlds may collide in unexpected ways grabbed my attention from the start and I couldn't put it down! This is a definite must-read for anyone who enjoys the whole "tale of two worlds" cliche.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from awesome read This is the last book I read, and it was great. I rushed it the first time I read it, because I was so captivated and needed to know what was gonna happen. When I was done I was a little sad that it was over and felt the need to read it again. So take my advice, and take your time. You will not be disappointed, or you can just read it twice...you still won't be disappointed I promise. The writing is great and the book flows at a nice speed just enough to keep you wanting more, but not so much that your over whelmed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LOVED IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wow, this book was amazing, the romance was breathtaking from beginning to end. The chemistry and the love between Brittany and Alex is just crazy...it was perfect!!!! I couldn't stop reading from the moment I started, the chemistry gets stronger and stronger, making the book harder to put down. Alex's character was definintly intense, which was interesting to read about, and him falling in love with his complete opposite was so different, but yet so perfect. This book keeps you reading until the end, and it is definintly the perfect romance novel.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This book is absolutely perfect! This book kept me hooked all the way to the end. the only problem i found with this book was that the end was kinda chessy but other then that it was perfect. it was one of the first books i read that switched between alex's p.o.v. and britnay's p.o.v every chapter and it made the book better. Alex and britnay are described so perfectly as is the locations, that you can picture everything like you were there. This book isn't really for younger teens since there's mild themes like sex (not fully described), drugs and gangsterism. Some jokes younger audience would not understand which ruins the funny parts in the book.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Perfect Chemistry is the Perfect Romance Novel I really enjoyed this book! Any teen girl will love this romance story that will make your heart swoon! It's about a rich girl name Brittany and a guy named Alex, who is apart of a gang. On the first day of chemistry class, the teacher pairs them up for the year as partners. Neither Brittany nor Alex can stand each other. Rude remarks are exchanged, pranks between the two are pulled and the chemistry teacher begins to become fed up with the two basically hating each other's guts. However, as the novel continues, they start to grow closer by noticing that they are more alike than they thought. Brittany is no longer seen as the spoiled rich good girl and Alex is no longer seen as the dangerous and criminal Latino. The two must overcome the sterotypes that divide the rich and the poor (as well as the Whites and Latinos) in order to cooperate so they can finish the chemistry project. As the novel continues, they soon find out that they have become attracted to one another through the pranks and the heated conversations between the two. However, Alex must keep a secret from Brittany or it will ruin their growing love for each other- a secret that could change everything. True love and the bond that Brittany and Alex shares is tested in the most crazy circumstances and is even frowned upon by the "rich and white" side of the town, even Brittany's parents are only concerned about keeping a positive image and obsessing about what everyone else thinks. The whole novel was great and I kept wanting to know what happens. The book is narrated both by Brittany and Alex in turn so you get to see both sides of the love story.... which I really enjoyed. However, there are quite a few spanish words and phrases that I could not understand, but besides that, this book really pulled at my heart strings. It teaches you that you might find someone totally obnoxious, but they could end up being the love of your life if you look deeper within them. The ending was amazing, the author really wrapped the book up nicely. This book will for sure make you surprised, laugh, sigh, tear up and even get angry over this romance story.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Chemistry = Perfect Book! This book is one of those hard to find books. Sometimes you have to go through a lot of others to find one like this. The balance between good girl and bad boy was fantastic in perfect chemistry. While the book is a great love story it also has lots of meaning in it too and deals with some scary problems that we still face today in OUR world. The book brings it's readers face to face with the character's happiness and love but also hate, violence, and loss. The book has more than one perspective but I still recommend it because even though this bothers me a lot of the time..I still loved it and wouldn't want it written any other way.
