New York Times bestselling author Barbara Hambly returns to the Star Wars(r) universe to tell a breathtaking tale of a mysterious world where the battle between the New Republic and the Empire takes a shocking new twist....

Nam Chorios is a barren backwater world--once a dreaded prison colony, now home to a fanatic religious cult. It is here that Princess Leia has been taken captive by a ruthless and charismatic warlord bent on destroying the New Republic. Meanwhile, Luke lands on a mysterious planet in search of his lost love, Callista, only to discover the Force is his own worst enemy. But worst of all, as Han, Chewie, and Lando leave Coruscant on a desperate rescue mission, a strange life-form, unlike any the galaxy has ever seen, awakens...a life-form so malevolent it will destroy everything--both Empire and New Republic--on its path to domination.

Features a bonus section following the novel that includes a primer on the Star Wars expanded universe, and over half a dozen excerpts from some of the most popular Star Wars books of the last thirty years!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I had no choice I had no choice to rate this. If I could have, I would not even have put a rating. But no. Mrs. Hambly must retire before angry mobs attack her at her house. I might even lead one of them. I read the first four chapters and, quite literaly, threw the book across the room. Calista is baaaaaaaaack! NO! Go back into that ship where you belong! Luke is taken by Mara Jade! Leave him alone! Mrs. Hambry is rewritting alll the characters, making them all so consuing that it's not so much as a read as it is a roller coaster ride that's hopped off the rails. Completly awful, do not read, please, spare yourselves.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Awful Another awful book by Barbara Hambly. Im not even going to finish it. I've been skipping chapters only to see what happens to Leia. After the first Star Wars she tried to write was a bomb why was she even allowd to try again? I urge you to skip this one. Waste of money and your time. Incredibly boring and doesnt do any of the characters justice.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from What a difference. If any of you reading this have read my review of Children of the Jedi, you know that I was far from impressed with Ms. Hambley's first attempt to delve into the Star Wars universe. But this is not the case for this book. I thought Planet of Twilight was an excellent book. It had a very interesting plot and unlike Children of the Jedi was very well-written and a good addition to the Star Wars Universe. Ms. Hambley truly redeemed herself with Planet of Twilight. I urge readers not to pass this book up just because of Hambley's poor entrance into George Lucas's world.
