The August 1994 conference emphasized the deformation of many of the newer, more complex ceramics, attempting to access what was previously learned from simple ceramic systems and extend that fundamental knowledge to the new systems. International authorities gave keynote lectures followed by presentations of invited individual papers. Sessions were devoted to general plasticity, indentation testing, superplasticity, general creep, creep in structural ceramics, creep in composites, fatigue and fracture, and thin films and irradiation effects.
