This book presents various boundary element foundations, implementations and results of linear and geometrically nonlinear problems of thin plates loaded in their own plane. It serves as a detailed introduction to the subject as well as a survey and exploration of the various up-to-date techniques in the field. Although some knowledge of the boundary elements would be useful, the first four chapters of the book contain a presentation of the basic principles of the method as well as a detailed description of plate stability theory. Studies of accuracy versus computer requirements, applications of dual-reciprocity techniques based on Fourier series and incremÄBental, analyses of the nonlinear problem are of particular interest where comparison is made to experimental and finite element results. The book is intended at the graduate and research levels and can be used by individual researchers and students.
