Children will chant the rhythmic words. They'll make the sounds the animals make. And they'll pretend to be the zoo animals featured in the book-- look at the last page!

Bill Martin Jr. and Eric Carle are two of the most respected names in children's education and children's illustrations. This collaboration, their first since the classic Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? (published more than thirty years ago and still a best-seller) shows two masters at their best.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My child's NO. 2 FAVOURITE! Buy it you won't regret it! We received this book as a gift when my baby was a just a new born. I was a new mom and unsure of what's popular or what my child will eventually like. At first glance I wasn't sure and wasn't crazy in love with the style of the illustration. However was I wrong! This is my child's No. 2 FAVOURITE BOOK! (No. 1 is Brown Bear Brown Bear by the same author/illustrator). She has a huge library of books but EVERYDAY she would find this book and ask me / daddy / nanny to read it to her. She love it so much we read and sing and make animal sounds repetitively. Buy it and you won't regret it! The joy this book brings to your child, and your family is endless.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Polar Bear, Polar Bear, What Do You Hear?(Bill Martin's Bears #2) by Bill Martin Jr., Eric Carle This book is exciting to read and while reading, you may find that the characters of the animals create a rhythmic sound. You could easily create a melody or make this book into your own sing-a-long that will engage the children into the characters and movement of these zoo animals. The words written on each page are catchy, easy to read and easy to remember for young children. Another thing is the bold colors and the different designs and shapes of these animals. Polar Bear, Polar Bear, What Do You Hear? Is a fabulous book for getting children used to rhythmic words. I have read this book lots of time to children and they always enjoy repeating the story with me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great! This has been my son's favorite book for the last 4 months. He's 8.5 months now. He loves the pictures and most of all he loves how we make the animal noises. Everyone does it now, mommy, daddy, grandma, papa, grandad. We're not the best animal sound makers but he doesn't seem to mind! He also absolutly loved chewing on this book :)
Date published: 2010-01-13
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Book My 9 month old son likes this book. It has the same great rhymes and artwork as Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? Given the choice between Brown Bear and Polar Bear, I'd have to go with Brown Bear. This book definately gets a thumbs up from us. :)
