about

A timeless gothic thriller for fans of supernatrual fiction

Seventeen-year-old Rayne can't wait to start her summer job at a remote country mansion, far from the crowded, noisy London and jealous boyfriend she so desperately wants to escape. But as soon as she arrives, the retreat turns into a nightmare-the mansion is creepy, the legends of ghosts keep Rayne up at night, and she doesn't feel safe anywhere.

Can Rayne figure out why she's so freaked-before she gets caught in a real-life ghost story?

Kate Cann lives in England with her husband, daughter, son, and dog. She worked as an editor for many years before writing several books for teens, including Possessed, Spanish Holiday, and Grecian Holiday.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Okay. What the author says this book is about, is not actually in the book. Um, Kate Cann said that there is some presence who does not want her to leave when actually, the place is just haunted and pays Rayne no mind. There are a few suspensful parts in the story *SPOILER* like when she is sleeping and then there is "someone" outside her door, but it ends up just being a fox. I didn't mind reading this book, but I just dont like authors that lie. (And im not sure why this book is called "Possessed" because there is no human-ghost contact at all and nobody gets possessed or even close to it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The Moody Teenager blogspot review 16 year old Rayne feels trapped in her little apartment she shares with her mom and little brother, her boyfriend, basicaly her lfe. She escapes to take a job in the country at Morton's keep where she quickly becomes friends wth the leader of the clique St.John. Rayne begins to avoid her boyfriend and everything that reminds her of home. Rayne has set up a new life for herself but there is always somehing about it that's...off. She begins to sense an evil, but she can't tell f t's coming from the manor or her new friends. This book didn't really have a conflict once Rayne was all set up at Morton's keep, though I kept reading because enjoyed the writing. Up until the end you really can't tell what's going to happen because Rayne has been living in so much bliss and there really isn't a conflict until that last batch of 100 pages. The book was simple, and kind of freaky (I read it during the middle of he night when I couldn't sleep...bad idea). It had a great plot and overall, I enjoyed it. "[A] spooky mystery." - Publishers Weekly

"Deftly striking just the right balance between the horror of the supernatural and the reality of human nature gone awry, Possessed will keep readers turning the pages... A highly readable and wonderfully frightening tale." - School Library Journal
