Rated 4 out of 5 by from New POV! Most of this story was told from Danaus's POV, which I didn't see coming but didn't mind because he's a very cool character. I liked really seeing his thoughts and feelings on Mira, especially as she loses control and he battles his own literal demons. A very intense (and sexy) story with great world building, it had me to the end and might be my favourite in the series!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great Story So here we are seeing events unfold through the eyes of Danaus the vampire hunter. He seeks out Mia the Firestarter in Savannah, and discovers that she is slowly losing her mind and that there is a demonic Bori on the loose. With the Naturi free, and the Bori fighting to be free of their cage, what is a flame wielding vampire and a half-bori hunter to do? A little bit disappointed in Mia's character in this one. She seems very weak here. I wonder if its an attempt to make her seem more sympathetic and human? Don't like it. I loved Danaus' character in this one, as well as the relationship development between him and Mia. Interested to see where Drake takes the characters next.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Another great story from Drake! Ever since I picked up Nightwalker, the first book in the Dark Days series, I have been enthrawled with the world that Drake has created. She has brought to life a dark, seductive reality where vampires rule the night. One marked difference between this edition and its predecessors is the point of view. Previously, Mira, the fire starter vampire has been telling the story; this time around, it is Danaus, her vampire hunter companion, is the voice telling this story. It is a refreshing change of pace, and provides enlightenment as to his feelings and motives. Drake brilliantly moves from the one point of view to the other, with little disjointedness. Discovering how Danaus sees Mira is a peek into their relationship. The story opens several months after the stand off at Machu Picchu against the naturi, when the naturi queen Aurora was released from her prison into the world. Now, as the naturi fight among each other for control of their race, Danaus returns to Savannah at the behest of Ryan, the powerful warlock he works for. He and Mira are to investigate the murder of the daughter of a Senator that could bring to light the existance of "others" in the world. they must discover why the girl was murdered, and by whom, in an attempt to protect the secret world they live in. But Mira has been trying to gain more power in order to defeat the naturi when they do try to destroy mankind, humans and vampires both. But her efforts are having negative side effects, and Danaus must now also protect her from the insanity that is very slowly gripping her mind. The cast of characters are still familiar. New to the stage is Lily, a young teen girl who witnessed the murder, and who gives Mira and Danaus a long-forgotten breath of humanity. Despite the challenges, Danaus and Mira's relationship also progresses, as Danaus realizes that he has come to care for a creature he once swore he would kill. Another fabulous installment in this series, with an ending that left me (literally) scrambling to grab the next book, Wait for Dusk.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Different Point of View When I first started this book I wasn't really sure as the narrator is Danaus this time around. It wasn't my favorite, however I did find that it was a good insight into how Danaus perceived Mira, which I think I needed. The sexual tension between these 2 has always been there, but from his side it is even more so!! I enjoyed the book, but found it was a bit long winded at times. I am eager to see where the story leads and curious who we will be riding along with next time :)
