In Tally's world, your 16th birthday brings an operation that turns you from a repellant Ugly into a stunningly attractive Pretty, and catapults you into a high-tech paradise where your only job is having a really good time. Just before her birthday, Tally discovered that turning Pretty comes with a terrible price. She vowed to accept the operation, but with the understanding that her friends on the outside would rescue her, and let her be the guinea pig for the experimental and highly dangerous cure they're developing.

But in the second book of the Uglies series, Tally's Pretty. And everything's changed. The new, Pretty Tally is totally happy right where she is. She doesn't think she needs any kind of cure at all. When someone from her Ugly life shows up with a message, Tally has a hard time listening. Did she really promise to give all this up? Is she bound by a promise she made when she was a different person? If there is anything left of the old Tally, how will she fight her way out to keep her word and help her friends?
Scott Westerfeld‘s other teen books include the Midnighters series, Peeps, So Yesterday, and The Last Days. He divides his summers between Sydney, Australia, and New York City.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Thought-provoking An extremely fascinating look in on a dystopian future of a world obsessed with perfection and physical beauty.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Really great The series got better with the second book for sure
Date published: 2017-08-04
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Enjoyed this book Bought it immediately after finishing the first book, easy and fun read. Some parts became repetitive like the first book but it didn't stop me from buying the next book.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pretties The sequel to uglies, it’s action packed, and as far as the characters, the ladies definitely outshine the guys here. #plumreview

Rated 4 out of 5 by from still love it I loved this series. Read it not long after it was released. I would definitely recommend this series. Its a dystopian novel which is something that I love in a novel.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It was okay. I really liked the first three books of this series, however the last book of the bunch just ruined all of them for me... This book was good though.
Date published: 2017-04-09
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good This book was good, but it wasn't as good as the first, and out of the first 3 I would say it's my least favourite. But it is definitely still worth the read, at least to read the next book, Specials.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good second book This book was also enjoyable :)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great book! A nice second book in the series that progresses the storyline. A fun read.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good God Ya'll SO yah... All that I can say is be prepared for a wild ride. This is a mildly heart wrenching book (if you know the series)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great series! Not quite as good as the first book but still a great read. Definitely recommended towards preteens/teenagers and those that like to read books geared toward that age group.
Date published: 2017-02-21
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Decent Not as good as the first, but still pretty good.
Date published: 2017-02-06
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Okay For me, this was the point where I started losing interest in the series. It just felt like it was missing something. This wasn't a series for me in the long run.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from the story continues Great read! couldn't put it down!
Date published: 2017-01-24
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pretties (Uglies #2) so the writing is still a little off but If you can get though the Tally-wa, Shay-la, Zane-la, bubbly and pretty-making comments it's a very good dystopia series.
Date published: 2017-01-12
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fun and heartbreaking In the second installment, we discover new ways to revolt and extend the universe we were introduced to in the first. It is difficult and heartbreaking, but also fun and so exciting.
Date published: 2017-01-03
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good! Not as good as Uglies, but pretty good as far as sequels go. Tally's problems get deeper after she has her pretty operation. Hopefully she'll be able to continue the fight.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Meh... I read Uglies and it brought me back to the love of reading, so as you can imagine i was eager to read more! As i picked up this book and started to read, i was intrigued, but not for long. Tally's character lost some great qualities and i will not be reading anymore of Scott's work.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the book I think this book is the best in the series.
Date published: 2016-11-14
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not as good as Uglies I love this series so far but I felt that it was kind of a step down from Uglies. The plot was pretty much the same as the first book with more twists which I thought worked pretty well. The language was a bit too much that i thought it was so not bubbly and more dizzy-making but it was necessary to show how much they have changed and not like their real selves.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pretties I liked it alot because i thought that the author had really done a great job making tallys personaity pretty after being ugly, and it still sounded like the old tally even though there were some new aspect mentally and definetly physically.
Date published: 2015-08-08
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing! The book was amazing! I have read it three times and I still freakin' love it! It is really worth reading.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Can't wait I heard the rights to the story has been sold and will become TV series✴
Date published: 2014-06-14
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Can't wait This series is captivating in its exploration of a society where physical beauty is no longer a marker of wealth and sucess. It helps young readers see beyond the shallow judgements that can be made about looks. They can begin to explore the things that really matter in society, like who is in charge and why.
Date published: 2014-02-15
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Can't wait This was my favorite book of the series. It was more light hearted then the others and added humor when they were "bubbleheads". I also enjoyed the added romance factor, this part of the series had something for everyone. Their society was a bit strange and the way they refer to us as "rusties" was interesting. The author was not shy to show her opinions of what our society is doing wrong and offering some very creative ways to fix our "rusty" problems. Although I considered a light fun read it also made you think of the way our society is run and how it will evolve in the future.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great :) The book was quite interesting, and enthralling. It was extremely hard to put down. :)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I can't help it I feel like this book could of been something more... It has a great storyline the characters I enjoy, but I feel it has been dumbed down a lot. Not necessarily a bad thing but I don't feel it's great either. Would be a good introduction to dystopian novels which have become a recent favourite of mine.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from As Good as Uglies This was the sequel to the Uglies. It was a good read, very interesting and kept me wondering what would happen next. If you enjoyed the first book, you'll enjoy this one too. It was a bit distracting that they pulled another love triangle like all popular books of today! I think the love triangle scenario is getting a bit old; Hunger Games, Twilight, etc. But all in all, it was a good read and it defiantly makes me want to read the next book and find out what kind of trouble she can get herself into next.
Date published: 2013-06-26
Rated 2 out of 5 by from It was OK This book was just OK for me and seemed to be more filler rather than something that added to the story/series. Maybe it will make sense when I continue reading the series?
