It’s hard to find a soul who hasn’t at least heard of Pride and Prejudice. It endures until this day in popular culture with adaptions for the screen and stage and reinterpretations being written all the time. Its endurance is well deserved. Originally written for the masses that craved genteel romances at the time, Jane Austen’s talent took what was meant to be a simple work popular with her audience and transformed it into a clever satire now observed as one of the greatest novels in English literature.

Pride and Prejudice takes place in Hertfordshire village, a remote setting in the country faraway from the urban environments of 19th century England. Mr. Bennet, a country gentleman with only a small wealth, has the seemingly insurmountable task of finding suitable husbands for his five animated daughters. The difficult task centers on his stubborn second daughter, Elizabeth, and her noble suitor, Fitzwilliam Darcy. Frequently butting heads with one another, it will take overcoming their pride and prejudices for their relationship to work.
