Reviews

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Measuring is a must to be a good baker The Queen of Bread is an avid, excellent baker and she supplies her Kingdom with delicious homemade bread daily. She so wants to teach her three daughters the skill of her breadmaking but they are lazy and selfish and avoid the opportunity to learn from their mother. One day the Queen finds herself very ill and takes to her bed. The girls are then forced to become bakers of bread or the citizens of the Kingdom will have none and starve. Their first attempt is a complete and utter disaster. They have no clue how to measure the ingredients so each loaf is doomed to failure. The girls simply make things up and toss it in a bowl. Oh my! The princesses, out of necessity, learn to study recipes and use accurate measurements that hone their breadmaking skills to perfection. With precision and brute determination they become excellent bakers just like their mother... who now is very, very proud of her clever girl's accomplishments. Kids reading this book will learn how to measure using kitchen tools such as cups, rulers, and scales. Basic math principals are embedded in the wonderful fairytale setting making the book both interesting and educational. The author has added workbook pages at the end and questions to ask while baking together. There is a wonderful magical bread recipe at the end to try. Every member of the family will benefit from this book and once the bread is prepared and baked everyone can sit down together and enjoy the fruits of their labour. I highly recommend this book.
