about

The bestselling author of The Simple Wild and Keep Her Safe and “master of steamy romance” (Kirkus Reviews) delivers a sizzling novel about an ambitious and high-powered executive who reconnects with her first love: the boy who broke her heart.

Life is a mixed bag for Piper Calloway.

On the one hand, she’s a twenty-nine-year-old VP at her dad’s multibillion-dollar real estate development firm, and living the high single life with her two best friends in a swanky downtown penthouse. On the other hand, she’s considered a pair of sexy legs in a male-dominated world and constantly has to prove her worth. Plus she’s stuck seeing her narcissistic ex-fiancé—a fellow VP—on the other side of her glass office wall every day.

Things get exponentially more complicated for Piper when she runs into Kyle Miller—the handsome new security guard at Calloway Group, and coincidentally the first love of her life.

The guy she hasn’t seen or heard from since they were summer camp counselors together. The guy from the wrong side of the tracks. The guy who apparently doesn’t even remember her name.

Piper may be a high-powered businesswoman now, but she soon realizes that her schoolgirl crush is still alive and strong, and crippling her concentration. What’s more, despite Kyle’s distant attitude, she’s convinced their reunion isn’t at all coincidental, and that his feelings for her still run deep. And she’s determined to make him admit to them, no matter the consequences.

Reviews

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Perfect Novel for Summer I didn't have any expectations when I went into reading this novel but if I did, my reading experience and enjoyment for this novel would have surpassed them all. When it comes to the summer, I find that there's always this feeling of nostalgia that surrounds the season. That's half of the reason why I love to read books set in summer because there's something that is just so enchanting and charming about stories set in that season. It's a reminder of youth and all of the adventures that happened then but at the same time, reminds me to reflect and appreciate small (and big) moments in summer now. This novel captured all of those feelings and all of that nostalgia fully but again, at the same time brought the reader forward to how things can change over time. Without a doubt, this may be my favourite read for the summer. If not a sole favourite, definitely a contender. I know I will be recommending this book all around. There's something about a romance and summer that just fits. Add on the trope of a 'first love' and I am set! Some may possibly argue about the logistics or the reality of this story but I definitely was not one to nitpick through the details. It was a story about young love and whether it be realistic or not, I loved it. After reading this, I want to go out and do a binge shop of K.A. Tucker's other novels. This was my first read of hers and I know it will leave a lasting impression. I'm looking forward to reading more from her and am restraining myself so I can make her novels last. ***Thank you to the publisher for supplying me with a copy of this book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review***

Editorial Reviews

"This nostalgic cross-class romance will hook readers from start to finish. . . . Tucker builds a gripping emotional arc, capturing all the heartwarming pleasure of first love while hinting at a tragic event that eventually separates the young lovers. Tucker skillfully builds both romantic tension and suspense, and delivers an immensely satisfying conclusion in this stellar page-turner."
