Comedian Gabbie Hanna brings levity to the twists and turns of modern adulthood in this exhilarating debut collection of illustrated poetry.

In poems ranging from the singsong rhythms of children’s verses to a sophisticated confessional style, Gabbie explores what it means to feel like a kid and an adult all at once, revealing her own longings, obsessions, and insecurities along the way. Adultolescence announces the arrival of a brilliant new voice with a magical ability to connect through alienation, cut to the profound with internet slang, and detonate wickedly funny jokes between moments of existential dread. You’ll turn to the last page because you get her, and you’ll return to the first because she gets you.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not the best. I love Gabbie and some of the content in this book was great but overall it wasn't as good as I wanted it to be. I would read it again and I would recommend it, especially since it is very quick to read.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Um.. You have no idea how much i really wanted to like this book. I would pass it in stores for months, picking it up every time, but never actually buying it, telling myself I would come back for it. I watch her on YouTube and I saw how excited and proud she was about writing it and it made me excited to finally read it. I went into it thinking "okay its good" but the more I read it turned to "okay this is bad" she makes typos in poems and instead of correcting them she creates another "poem" simply stating that she acknowledged it and never will make a typo in a poem again, but then does for the humorous effect. There is one poem where she states that a lot of the poems she wrote in here were rushed because she needed to fill the pages before her close deadline. You could tell.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Just a way to make money for publishers honestly Don't get me wrong I really like Gabbie but this book is kind of a joke. It's just an example of a company using a popular person so people will buy the product. I'm sure they didnt care much about the quality of the text

Rated 4 out of 5 by from glad i read it! Reading this book was a journey! I felt like it started off sad, then happy, and then sad again, and then happy! Like a really insane roller coaster ride! Anyway, I loved the art style, and I loved the topics that were brushed on, Hanna gives the reader a good balance of heartache and laughter. Definitely recommend!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pleasantly suprised This is Gabbie' first book. She does not have any prior experience in writing (not that I know of), so ther are a few clichés considering themes like anxiety, depression, heartbreak and such are very common among our generation. Yet, you can tell she poured her heart and soul into it and I really enjoyed my read. A fan of hers will feel right at home with this book.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A masterpiece of the mind Gabbie was able to write her life experiences in such a way that made her relatable to everyone. Maybe not the exact situation, but she made each broad enough so that you could join her on the journey she illustrates.
