Hope lives in Africa. Twenty years after the genocide that left Rwanda in ruins, Giller Prize-winning author Will Ferguson travels deep into the once-mysterious "Land of a Thousand Hills" with his friend and cohort Jean-Claude Munyezamu, a man who escaped Rwanda just months before the killings began.
From the legendary Source of the Nile to Dian Fossey's famed "gorillas in the mist," from innovative refugee camps along the Congolese border to the world's most escapable prison, from tragic genocide sites to open savannahs and a bridge to freedom, from schoolyard soccer pitches to a cunning plan to get rich on passion fruit, Ferguson and Munyezamu discover a country reborn.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Another great book by Will Ferguson I really enjoyed this book. It is sad how the African Countries take turns sliding into the abyss - Burundi is next. This book outlines the genocide very well but has a hopeful tone throughout and an optimistic outlook.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fabulous Read! Upon receiving this Book … "Road Trip Rwanda," I began reading that same night and found I just couldn't stop devouring the pages. It captured my attention from the very beginning, and from my many trips to Various Countries in Africa, Will Ferguson's words rang True. The accounts of His Incredible Journey clearly portrayed the historical state of affairs, along with current circumstances in Rwanda. His poignant and engaging story clawed at all my senses, causing fear to well up in my throat, and at times I could even smell the 'red dirt' of the Country's floor. I found myself in tears of sadness, laughter in his attempts at humor, anger, incredible fear, frustration and even relief. A most remarkable story of bravery, courage, resilience, and strength to endure. These two men embark on this arduous journey, and find themselves allured and woven into the very fabric of this Land! A Must Read!
